Chapter 1090 - Forgot the Important Day...
Lu Lijun pulled out the set of pajamas from the wardrobe and brought it to Jiang Yuyan.
"Change it fast and sleep after that," he instructed.
Jiang Yuyan nodded slightly and accepted the clothes.
Lu Lijun left her room and went to his own. He kicked away his shoes and lay on the bed, not even changing his clothes.
He was happy and felt this relaxed after so long. He realized that since Jiang Yuyan returned from Paris, he didn’t fight with her even once, and they were at peace.
He remembered all the moments he spent with her since the previous night. How normally they talked and even argued nicely like in the past made him smile. She listened to whatever he said and did. When he took care of her, it felt good that he wished to continue like it.
"Why were we fighting all the time?" he mumbled, feeling surprised over how good they could be with each other.
Smiling, he closed his eyes and fell asleep soon. The previous night and the entire day, he could rest, so it didn’t take him to sleep.
--------
Two days left for the engagement when both families were busy preparing for the day. Lu Lijun was busy working as he didn’t want Jiang Yuyan to work much due to how weak she was a few days back.
Liwei came to the office to meet Jiang Yuyan before the office hours would finish. She didn’t go to Lu Lijun’s office, but straightaway went to Jiang Yuyan.
"How are you now?" Liwei asked.
Busy Jiang Yuyan kept her work aside and smiled at the young girl. "Much better."
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Lu Lijun entered the office with one file with him.
Seeing Liwei, he was surprised. "When did you come?"
"Just now. I’m here to visit the gorgeous lady, not you," said Liwei as she smiled teasingly.
’Gorgeous?’ Lu Lijun thought and looked at Jiang Yuyan as his mind agreed to it silently, ’Yes, she sure is.’
Liwei turned to Jiang Yuyan, "I wanted to visit earlier, but these past few days were busy, and mother wouldn’t let me out."
"It’s fine," said Jiang Yuyan.
Seeing her smiling and talking pleasantly to everyone, unlike how cold she was before, Lu Lijun could only think, ’Is there some issue with my eyes, or has she really changed?’
Lu Lijun gave Jiang Yuyan the file he brought. "It’s done. Tomorrow we can have a meeting with them."
Jiang Yuyan accepted the file.
Lu Lijun looked at Xiao Min and instructed, "Set our meeting with them for noon."
Jiang Yuyan looked at him and asked, "Tomorrow, you can have a day off."
"Why?" Lu Lijun asked.
"Are you planning to keep working and miss your engagement?"
’Tomorrow?’ he thought and looked at Liwei, who was equally surprised to see how he didn’t care about his engagement.
"Did you forget or what?" Liwei asked and commented, "You would be the first man who forgot his own engagement."
Others smiled, taking it as a joke, and Liwei spoke again, smiling teasingly, "I am scared this workaholic man would forget me even after we get married. Don’t turn me into a poor wife who would always wait for her husband."
Lu Lijun stayed silent as this sudden husband-wife talk was not getting down his throat.
"Don’t worry. He would be a good husband," Jiang Yuyan assured Liwei and added, "He is like his elder brother who would love his wife more than himself."
"Ah, then fine! I look forward to it," said Liwei.
Lu Lijun was still silent, and Jiang Yuyan turned to him. "Office hours are over. You should take Liwei home."
"It would be nice. I didn’t bring a car," Liwei informed.
"We still have work to finish. It will take you more time to finish alone," Lu Lijun talked to Jiang Yuyan.
"When you were not here, I did it alone too for all these years, so don’t worry about it," Jiang Yuyan countered. "Now go. Don’t keep her waiting."
Lu Lijun looked at Xiao Min, "Don’t let her work till late. I’ll finish it all later if it’s needed."
Xiao Min nodded, and Lu Lijun left.
Jiang Yuyan looked at Xiao Min, "Don’t forget who your boss is."
She knew Xiao Min would follow what Lu Lijun instructed him.
"These men and their overbearing and troublesome care," Jiang Yuyan mumbled and continued working while Xiao Min could only stand silently.
------
On the way to Wen’s residence, Liwei looked at Lu Lijun, who was focused on driving.
’How much I look at him can never be enough,’ she thought, smiling pleasantly.
Lu Lijun sensed the continuous stare at him and asked, "Why are you staring at me?"
"I was thinking something," Liwei replied.
"What?"
"I was thinking about the days when we would be married and you will take care of me the way you cared for Yuyan."
"She is my family. What’s so special about caring for your family member?" he commented coldly, still focussed on driving.
"That....you won’t understand. But trust me, all the women out there would be jealous of me seeing the way my husband cares for me."
Lu Lijun sighed, "Is it written somewhere that only husbands care like that? To me, it’s normal to care for someone... I... really care for."
Lu Lijun fumbled at the last words as if he changed what he would have said.
"You know, it’s something different between husband and wife from how you care for others. If you care for Yuyan that much, I wonder how much it would be for me?" Liwei added, smiling floating in her dreamland after the wedding.
Lu Lijun went silent and didn’t know what to say.
"If someone sees you like that with Yuyan, they will misunderstand you as her husband if they don’t know you two," Liwei commented.
