Chapter 606: Chapter 600: Provocation
As Jasmine Davis finished speaking, the spaceship’s door conveniently opened. She strode out without a backward glance. Finn Lewis, following behind, saw a crowd gathered outside. The moment Davis stepped out, the crowd fell silent.
“What are you looking at?” Davis barked, shooting them a fierce look. “Don’t you have something to do? Off you go!” With that, she hopped onto a strangely designed vehicle parked nearby and soared away, leaving the spaceship and the crowd behind.
Soon after Davis left, the crowd erupted in chatter. Many were pointing fingers and whispering among themselves. Finn Lewis knew exactly what type of men these mercenaries were. Showing fear would only fuel their confidence.
Without any hesitation, Finn followed Davis’s steps out of the spaceship. Dunn Monty and Thomas Calvin, who were trailing behind, exchanged worried glances.
They knew about Finn’s status back on Earth and naturally understood what he must have been through. However, in this place, Finn was devoid of the status he held on Earth. Any slightest miscalculation could invite trouble not just for him but for Monty and Calvin as well.
But Lewis’s real identity still needed to be contained. After all, the Silver Arrest Warrant against him hadn’t been revoked yet.
Jasmine Davis did not go far but kept an eye from the shadows. She knew well what sort of people her subordinates were and even though she was annoyed with Monty and Calvin, she didn’t intervene. Davis, a woman with a clarity about her likes and dislikes, didn’t mind lending a hand but that didn’t erase her dissatisfaction with the men.
As for Finn Lewis, who was the only surviving descendant of a nine-star royal family, Davis was certainly intrigued. The statement she had made about having her descents switching allegiance to other families wasn’t entirely accurate.
Would a member of the royal family ever abandon their lineage? That was nonsense! Even if the only nine-star royal family had fallen into hard times, they were still royal! The only existing royal family without privileges? Who would believe that?
At least, being a subordinate in another family would be more respectable. The reason why those people had switched to other families was that they lacked the family crest. The family crest was the only proof of one’s lineage. Without it, even if they were descendants, they wouldn’t be acknowledged as members of the family.
Davis had a general idea about this young man, Finn. The Silver Arrest Warrant was widespread across the entire galaxy, and everyone who was semi-aware knew about it.
Although civilians who didn’t accept the arrest warrant couldn’t see the details of the contents, they only knew about the general information. But with just that general information, Davis guessed that this young man was the one mentioned in the Silver Arrest Warrant.
He had no background and being the only heir, if the rival descendant didn’t make a move to kill him, that would be surprising. By getting rid of him, the rival descendant would have the legitimate right to inherit the only nine-star family lineage. Of course, killing him plainly and planning his death were two very different things.
In Davis’s view, Finn had already stepped out of the spaceship and was being cautiously watched by the crowd. When Monty and Calvin came out, someone from the crowd couldn’t hold back and yelled out, “Hey, isn’t it the famous Sky Wolf and Vulture? So, this is your chance to reclaim your honor? Haha, a native? Haha…”
The crowd immediately howled in laughter. “Sky Wolf, when did you guys become so desperate? Don’t tell me you think you have found a new noble and are expecting to stage a comeback with him?”
Finn understood what the man meant by a new noble. It was akin to something they had previously discussed about life genetic code similar to someone of royal lineage. Like Finn, any newcomer who had yet to be officially recognized by the family, could be considered a nascent noble.
To put it in simple terms, Finn was like the reincarnation of the Golden Cicada, and Monty and Calvin were like Guanyin. They found Monk Tang with the purpose of assisting him in obtaining holy scriptures and reinstating his status as the disciple Golden Cicada.
This was the most basic version, but now it was evidently the scientific one. Of course, only nobles had the privilege to back-up their life genetic code, common people could not.
However, Finn felt that the whole idea of backing up was nonsense. He knew that even though his so-called life genetic code matched with that of His Highness, he would not be able to recall any of his memories or experiences. This was utterly impossible, unless he got the information from a third party.
Since the Galactic Federation’s laws assert this sort of legal recognition, Finn wasn’t bothered. After all, who could really tell whether it was good or bad? But at least for now, it was beneficial to him, wasn’t it?
“Hey, lad, why don’t you tell us which noble family do you belong to? Ha, have you pissed your pants yet? Okay, let me guess, coming from such a backward planet, I bet your brain is still processing the situation. Ever seen anything like this?” A burly man whistled towards Finn, then laughed mockingly and yelled.
The crowd immediately burst into laughter. Finn gave him a glance and moved on, completely disregarding the man.
While Finn might have ignored the man, the man could not afford to ignore Finn. He felt insulted not to have Finn respond to him, and he stomped up to Finn, blocking his way and said angrily, “What are you looking at, boy? Didn’t you hear me when I was speaking to you?”
Finn gave him a glance, just a glance, and turned away to walk past him. He had no interest in engaging with him whatsoever. A wave of laughter erupted from the crowd, people began to tease, “Haha, Big Bird, you just got ignored. Haha, even a native dares to ignore you. Haha, you better go home and suck your milk.”
