Chapter 30 The White Phoenix
Chapter 30 The White Phoenix
The bird that stood before Lucas stretched its wings wearily, Lucas was impressed with its silver feathers that were ruffling and settling on its body. Its wings were a wonderful mixture of muted ash, speckled with white. Not only was its smile radiant, but its wings had the colours of the clouds.
The phoenix stood there looking down at Lucas and began to flap its wings in the air. It pushed against gravity and made the air swirl around Lucas.
"Wow, wow, wow!" Exclaimed Lucas in the face of this magical creature that was more than two meters tall.
Each of its wings was about one and a half meters long, which represented its power and grace.
The body, covered with ash and feathers, looked strong and heavy, and if you looked closely, you could see that its feathers were not only made of softness but were surrounded by heavy iron dust so that the bird could not be damaged.
"Gracious!" The old woman looked at him from a distance.
The bird flapped its wings in front of Lucas to show how dangerous it could be and to threaten him.
"Tell him to obey you!" She added.
Lucas crossed his arms in front of his face and backed away to protect it from the sharp wind that was just attacking his body.
"How am I supposed to do that?" He shouted. "Do I have to turn on the system, neaah!" An invisible but sharp throw of glass from the wind reached Lucas' face.
It gave him a small cut.
A small amount of blood came out of Lucas' skin.
The mana observation had already taken a lot out of his skin, and it was becoming sensitive. Even a small scratch or bruise made Lucas' skin burn.
The blood coming from the cut slid onto Lucas' cheek and fell through his skin onto his clothes.
The fluttering bird smelled the blood and immediately stopped moving its wings.
All three froze for a moment, not knowing what to do, and stood in complete silence for another time.
"It is time to make him obey you." Whispered the old woman in her cracked voice.
"How am I supposed to do that?" Lucas shook his head and asked her again in a low tone, "How?"
"Take the blood from your cheek and apply it to your hand while calling out, "The white phoenix, the protector of living souls, I command you to make a pact with me."
"Will this even work?" He doubted for a moment, "fuck it if I die, I die." He sighed.
Lucas slowly touched his left cheek with his hand, wiped the blood with his palm, and reached his hand forward, extending two fingers, and shouted, "The White Phoenix, the protector of living souls, I command you to make a pact with me!" He closed his eyes and waited for what would happen next.
But nothing happened.
It was so quiet that Lucas could hear his own breathing.
He opened his eyes to see what was going on and saw the bird sitting on the ground as if waiting for his orders.
The eyes had changed from an aggressive red colour to a large black pupil, he looked like a puppy waiting for its master "What is it?" Lucas' eyes widened in surprise.
"Unbelievable..." The old woman sounded shocked, "this bird is already in your orders." She added.
She got up from her chair and walked closer to Lucas and the bird standing in front of him. She walked carefully so as not to offend the creature.
"This is incredible!" She gasped, "it's actually in your order." She covered her mouth with her hands.
The bird was completely still, without a single movement it just stared at Lucas with its big eyes.
"Activate the system." The old woman stood behind Lucas to get a better view of the white phoenix.
"How?" Lucas leaned his head and shoulders back and whispered.
"Ask the system to show up."
"It will not show up, it will not listen to me."
"Just summon it!" She raised her voice a little.
"Sigh, here goes nothing again." Lucas was already tired after the trip to the city of elves, being tied up with a rope by Xina, after not even showering, after changing his personality, after a mana incantation, and now this "When will I ever rest?" A quick thought welcomed his mind.
He had dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep, and his clothes still smelled of the fight and sweating. His face still showed some unpleasant remnants of Toburo's blessing, it had been a bad day for him, and one incantation after another was eating away at his soul.
"System, show up."
*Clip*
[System activated]
[What do you want?]
It sounded with an attitude.
Lucas lowered his head and sighed, "See, I told you it would not listen to me." He turned back to the old woman.
"How strange..." She put her hand on her chin.
"Ask the system about the Phoenix's abilities." She murmured
Without saying anything back to the old lady, he turned to the system, "System, tell me the abilities of the white phoenix."

The system shut down.
"Renexa, that's the name of this bird?" Lucas took a deep breath and tilted his head to the side
"Unbelievable, you have gained an ability that no one here but Izek has mastered, we must teach you how to control Renexa." This woman was in more shock than Lucas.
"It will listen to me?" Lucas asked aloud, "and why is it stronger than Kali, Kali is a dragon." He hugged his shoulders to himself, a small shiver going through his skin at the thought of how powerful this being was before him.
"Izek was the only one who made this bird obey him, who are you?" She turned to Lucas and asked him the same question as everyone else did.
"My name is Lucas and I'm a human."
