Chapter 668: Chapter 668 - Abyss Devourer

?

Eastern Gate.

Goldrich and Jovina vs Countess Murmur.

Countess Murmur hovered just above the ground. Unlike most demons, she looked

surprisingly human. Without horns, she carried an air of nobility that seemed almost regal. Still, her presence was anything but subtle. The ornate armor she wore, the magic staff in her hand, and her grand, feathered wings left no doubt about her power.

[Countess Murmur - Void Feathered Seraphim Lv. 263]

[Named Demon - Ranking 54]

In front of her stood two challengers: an old mage and a summoner.

The mage gave a small, respectful bow. "Goldrich sends his regards to the renowned Countess Murmur."

"Pathetic worms," the demoness said.

"Not exactly the most gracious way to acknowledge a polite greeting, wouldn't you agree, Countess?"

"Show me if you can provide even a shred of entertainment before I truly lose my patience and end this war myself."

"You're rushing things," Goldrich remarked. "We still have plenty of troops on both sides who haven't even finished slaughtering each other yet."

"I could wipe them all out in moments if I wanted."

"I do enjoy such overconfidence," Goldrich said.

Stepping forward, Jovina jabbed a finger at the floating demoness. "Hey, bitch! You're in the wrong place to talk so big. I'll make sure today's the last day you take another breath!"

The Countess chuckled. "Oh, how delightful. Crushing arrogance like yours is one of my greatest pleasures."

The Countess let out a self-assured laugh, her voice echoing across the battlefield as she floated effortlessly in the air, weaving gracefully from side to side. With a wave of her magic staff, she conjured several magic circles behind her, ready to unleash devastation at her whim. "Now, tell me," she said with a mocking tone, "how exactly do you plan to fight me? I bet you can't even reach me."

Goldrich gave a faint smile. "You're not the only one here who can fly."

"Yeah. Let's show this bitch who we are."

Jovina responded with a faint smirk, stepping forward. Slowly, she summoned three massive magic circles around her-large enough to make it clear that whatever she was calling forth wouldn't be ordinary.

One by one, her summons emerged.

The first was a colossal, monstrous tarantula, its black-and-red body almost twice Jovina's height. Its legs were covered in thick armor. This was Arachlord. Let's simplify it to Tarantus.

The second was a humanoid creature with the distinct features of a bee. Its glossy wings glistened in the light, and its sleek, armored body resembled that of a masked hero. A powerful stinger tail curved behind it. This was Sky Snatcher, but let's call it Beeman.

The third summon appeared gracefully, its butterfly-like wings fluttering softly as it hovered above the ground. Its form combined the sleek body of an insect with the upper torso of a humanoid woman clad in elegant full-body armor. This was Umbraflyte. For simplicity, let's call it Nightwing.

The battlefield went silent for a moment as everyone, whether standing nearby or watching the live broadcast, stared in awe.

It was the first time Jovina had ever revealed these summons in front of an audience.

The Beeman and Nightwing hovered behind Jovina. Below them, the Tarantus crouched low.

"Now, I've brought my insect collection today, and trust me, they're hungry. They won't mind feasting on demon meat, you arrogant bitch."

With a sudden burst of speed, the Beeman launched forward, its wings beating so fast they became a blur.

The Nightwing followed, gliding elegantly through the air.

Meanwhile, Goldrich stood beside Jovina. He stepped forward-or rather, up. His foot landed on an invisible platform, then another, as he began to ascend into the air. It was a skill similar to one used by Melliandra, allowing the old mage to traverse the skies as though walking on a transparent staircase.

"Cover me from behind, Jovina."

"Sure, but no guarantees. And if you die in this battle, I swear I'll kill you myself."

Goldrich chuckled as he continued his ascent. "Fair enough."

The Beeman shot toward Countess Murmur with astounding speed, darting left and right in rapid bursts. Its movements were almost unpredictable as it closed the distance to its target.

Meanwhile, the Nightwing hovered gracefully behind, its butterfly-like wings scattering a shimmering dust-like energy into the air. The effect was immediate-Beeman's speed increased even further, its movements becoming sharper and faster as it pressed its assault. Countess Murmur, began to laugh maniacally. With a wave of her staff, she unleashed dozens of magic missiles from the glowing circles around her.

The Beeman darted through the air, slashing with its bladed arms as it skillfully dodged the incoming projectiles. Its movements were almost too fast for the missiles to track, leaving trails of afterimages as it closed in.

On the other side of the battlefield, Goldrich made his move. He wasn't merely flying-he was running through the air, as though the transparent platforms beneath him were solid ground.

With his magic staff spinning effortlessly in his hands, Goldrich conjured a barrage of magic missiles, sending them hurtling toward Countess Murmur with precise aim.

For a moment, the battlefield seemed surreal. The sheer flexibility and speed displayed by the old mage left everyone watching in stunned silence.

This wasn't just a display of power-it was a revelation. Goldrich, the seemingly frail and reserved elder, was revealing his true strength only for this kind of special moment.

The battlefield in the skies was a chaotic spectacle of explosions and relentless speed. Countess Murmur, weaving through the air while unleashing a relentless barrage of attacks from afar. Her magic missiles and bursts of energy hammered the Beeman, a close-range attacker that refused to back down.

Despite being struck repeatedly by the demoness's devastating blasts, the Beeman pressed on, its speed forcing Countess Murmur to stay on the defensive. Whenever the Beeman faltered, the Nightwing swooped in, scattering its shimmering energy and healing the humanoid bee instantly.

Goldrich, on the other hand, was also dealing with Countess Murmur's relentless attacks. Yet, the old man moved with surprising agility, leaping and soaring through the air with a faint,

confident smile.

Occasionally, he even flipped midair to dodge her explosive blasts.

When the blasts grew too large to evade, he let himself free-fall for a moment before conjuring another floating platform beneath him. He'd use it to dash forward, keeping his

momentum.

He didn't look anything like the typical mage with moves like these. All the while, as he darted through the air, he fired magic missiles in quick succession, matching Countess

Murmur's attacks blow for blow.

[Samuel_Monroe]: "A flying grandpa running in the air like he's on a treadmill... Goldrich is

GOATED. []"

[Justin_Joshuva]: "Countess Murmur's 'I'm too OP for this' energy really didn't age well. She's getting outplayed by a grandpa and a bug enthusiast."

On the ground, the Tarantus fired massive web projectiles that spiraled through the air. Each shot aimed to snare the demoness, its precision improving with every attempt.

Finally, a well-timed web attack struck its target, wrapping around Countess Murmur's wings

and slowing her movements.

Unnoticed amidst the chaos, Goldrich continued his advance, closing the distance with ease.

As he reached an ideal position, the old mage smiled faintly, raising his hand with a decisive

motion.

"Soulbind Prison!" he shouted.

In an instant, a glowing cube of golden energy materialized around Countess Murmur.

Goldrich's smirk widened as he spun his magic staff in a deliberate, fluid motion. The battlefield stilled for a heartbeat as a massive dark portal opened behind him, swirling with

ominous energy.

The air grew thick, and a deep, guttural roar rumbled from the depths of the portal, shaking

the ground beneath them.

Slowly, a monstrous head began to emerge. Its grotesque maw was lined with jagged, glowing green teeth, and shadowy mist coiled around its massive form like living smoke.

"Abyss Devourer!"

Countess Murmur's composure cracked as panic flashed across her face. She twisted and darted in the air, desperately trying to escape.

The monstrous creature let out another deafening roar. Its massive maw opened wide, releasing a cannon-like blast of green and shadowy energy. The beam surged forward, engulfing the Countess completely, swallowing her whole in its overwhelming power. [Laurence_Giles_9545]: "When Goldrich said 'Soulbind Prison' and then summoned the Abyss Devourer, I swear I heard the boss music start"

[JungleDan]: "Live Chat: 'Countess Murmur = mid-tier villain confirmed.' Bruh, don't jinx it,

we're not done yet! []<"

[Hunter581]: "Who needs Avengers when you have Grandpa Mage and Bug Lady absolutely

WORKING a demon?"

[Stephen_Blaine]: "Jovina's bugs = Pokémon, Goldrich = Final Fantasy, Countess Murmur =

Still downloading updates."
