Chapter 328: In Action
Chapter 328: In Action
'We're rich…' Shane and Lysandra thought of this at the same time as they realized that they had really managed to get on the Lord's good side.
The two of them knew that the six Healing Tokens that Shane had gifted were certainly not worth this much, even if they were converted to gold.
This means that Lord Kang Zhen really liked them and wanted to build a good relationship, not just for their business transactions.
Of course, Shane had no plans of declining this money. He knew that he also needed them since the items being sold in this Shelter could only be bought with these gold coins. Although he could use his Healing Tokens as payment, that was only possible if the transaction was done under Kang Zhen's administration.
As for the private shops or peddlers outside, it would be better to use gold coins.
"Thank you for your generous gift, Lord Kang Zhen."
Soon, Shane obtained 20,000 Zombie Cores after trading 100 Healing Tokens. Then, Shane also received 3,500 low-grade Spirit Stones for his other 100 Healing Tokens.
This transaction was certainly not possible for other survivors, even if they had Skill Infuser Talent. After all, triggering this Skill takes at least 50 Spirit Points, while the average Spirit Capacity of Survivors wasn't even at 400 yet. Furthermore, the recovery speed of Spirit Point wasn't that high to begin with.
You'd already be lucky to have 5 Spirit Points per hour like Shane.
"Awesome…"
Shane and Lysandra exchanged satisfied glances. They still have plenty of Healing Tokens that he plans to sell later, so they know that they will still get rich.
After this, Shane gave Lysandra 50 taels of gold to look around outside and buy anything she fancies. They could be a change of clothes, food, accessories, or anything that might catch her eye.
As she left, Shane was then guided to the Alchemy Warehouse to get all the ingredients he needed.
Shane followed the advisor through the winding corridors of the Shelter Lord's building until they reached a large, reinforced door.
'Mhmm… It's not just a simple iron door…' Shane thought to himself as his Otherworldly Mechanic Talent seemed to have been triggered and found various complicated mechanisms everywhere.
'It seems they're prepared not just against Zombies but also also Survivors.'
The advisor then unlocked it with a heavy key and Shane indeed heard various gears clicking before they were able to open it. Then, they finally stepped into the Alchemy Warehouse.
The warehouse was a vast, dimly lit space filled with rows upon rows of shelves, each laden with jars, vials, and containers of various sizes. The air was thick with the scent of herbs and potions, a heady mix of earthiness and medicinal aroma.
It was a place where mysterious Alchemy knowledge and modern necessity converged, creating a strange atmosphere.
"Welcome to the Alchemy Warehouse," the advisor said, gesturing around. "Feel free to look for the ingredients you need, and the servants will list them, and they'll be the ones to pack it up for you." As he said this, he glanced at the two servants following behind them.
Shane nodded, his eyes scanning the shelves.
Then, he pulled out his Blood Alchemy Book, flipping through the pages to the list of ingredients he needed. He hadn't memorized the ingredients for them after all.
The book was old and worn, but each page was still sturdy, like they were protected.
'Alright…' Shane nodded as he turned the pages.
He began his search, moving methodically through the aisles.
"First, I'll take the Ancient Oak Moss…"
The two servants followed closely, and soon as they heard him, they guided him to where the moss was located.
Shane found a jar labeled Ancient Oak Moss, its contents a deep green and slightly luminescent. There were a total of five jars of it, and four of them were carefully bagged by the servants to be give to Shane later..
Next, Shane found the ingredients for the Night Vision skill.
He found a container marked Bat Wing, where the dried appendages were neatly arranged inside. He added it to his growing collection. As he continued, he discovered jars of Ginseng Root of various ages, from fresh and vibrant to aged and potent. Each had its own unique properties, and Shane selected a few of each.
The shelves also held a variety of herbs, some familiar and others exotic. He picked up Mandrake Root, Lunarseed Oil, and Purplegait Flower, knowing their combined properties could be used to obtain Screamer Zombie's Skill, Wailing Howl.
"These are perfect," Shane muttered to himself as he completed another set of ingredients. Furthermore, with the amount he had taken, it wasn't a problem to make more than a dozen Wailing Howl Elixirs.
The advisor watched with interest. "You seem to know exactly what you're looking for."
Shane smiled. "I just know a few recipes. I still haven't tried to make one potion. That's why I need plenty of them to practice."
As he continued to explore, he obtained almost every piece of ingredient in their warehouse. The advisor even admitted that most of them weren't something they could use, but they knew that they were valuable because of the aura they were emitting.
After a few moments, Shane came across a section dedicated to rare treasures.
There were feathers from Mutated Vultures, ten horns from Horned Zombie, and even a small vial of Spitter Lord's zombie blood.
"Ahhh? Mutated Vultures? There's even Horned Zombie and Spitter Lord Zombie." Shane was quite surprised at what he had just seen.
"Kekeke… So it's your first time seeing these items, huh… For some reason, vultures weren't affected by the Zombie Virus. Even if they eat Zombies, they aren't turning into one no matter how much Zombie Flesh or even blood they eat. However, they could still obtain significant power from the Zombie's Flesh… At the very least, that is what I've heard from the experts."
"What about these horns from Horned Zombies and Spitter Lord's zombie blood… Did you encounter them here?" Shane asked.
"Mhmm… I'm not sure either. They were already here when I became in charge of the Alchemy warehouse. In any case, they must've come from the previous Shelter Lord."
Shane could only nod at this and decided not to dwell on it too much.
After gathering all the ingredients he needed, Shane approached the advisor. "I think I have everything. Let's make the exchange."
The advisor nodded and led him to a counter where they carefully counted the ingredients and possible conversion for Healing Tokens.
Soon, Shane spent a total amount of 90 Healing Tokens and received the precious ingredients, each one carefully packed and labeled before he stored them in his inventory.
"Thank you for your help…" Shane said, securing his bag.
The advisor smiled. "You're welcome. I hope these ingredients serve you well."
As Shane left the Alchemy Warehouse, it was finally time to visit the Mechanical Workshop.
Outside the warehouse, he was met by a different advisor, who had previous suggested this offer. "Ready to visit the Mechanical Workshop?" the advisor asked.
"Yes, let's go," Shane replied, eager to see the advanced facilities. He wanted to see whether his Anima Store would give him discounted offers since he wouldn't be touching junk items this time but mechanical gears made by Artisans of this shelter.
However, As they walked through the bustling streets, an alarm suddenly blared, echoing through the shelter.
Wiii~ Woo~ Wii~ Woo~
Shane tensed up after hearing this, but the advisor remained unfazed.
"Since the bell only sounded twice, the Zombies attacking us should be less than 300. It's not a huge threat," the advisor explained calmly.
"Shall we take a look?" he offered.
Shane then looked to the area where the Zombies are converging and nodded.
"Yes… I would like to see how your Ivory Gear Shelter defends against the horde," Shane said, his curiosity piqued.
"Hahaha… That's true. It's actually perfect timing." The advisor said.
They made their way to the outer wall, where a group of guards was already mobilizing.
Clink! Clink! Clink!
Suddenly, Shane heard some gears activating...
Then, he watched in awe as the ramparts began to open up, revealing hidden mechanisms. Massive crossbows, each the size of a small cart, were raised into position as their bolts started gleaming in the sunlight.
"Impressive," Shane muttered, his eyes wide with amazement. He could tell that these crossbows could fire continuously.
The advisor smiled. "These are our Ballistae. They can take down multiple zombies with a single shot. It seems that we're only dealing with low-tier Zombies with a few mid-tier… There was no need to use special arrows."
Shane couldn't see beyond the wall, but he also heard the whirring of machinery and the clanking of metal.
The advisor then explained about the several turrets that emerged from concealed compartments along the wall. Each turret was equipped with rotating barrels, ready to unleash a hail of bullets on the approaching horde!
