Chapter 500: 499 His Good

She looked at the flowers in the bottle and it suddenly hit her!

The flowers Mo Xiuchen gave her weren’t just gifts, they were his way of communicating, of reminding her of their shared past and the promises she made to him that evening.

She had said that she would believe in him!

She had also told him that she loved him!

She had even ensured him that she would never leave him!

She had said so much and made so many promises, and now, in such a short time, she was trying to extract herself from his life. Of course he wouldn’t agree to it easily.

When Wen Ran came downstairs, Bai Xiaoxiao was sitting in the living room all bored. When she saw Wen Ran, she expressed her delight immediately: “Ranran, you lazy pig! If you didn’t wake up, I would have died of boredom.”

Wen Ran gave her a slight smile as she descended the last step and walked over to her.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?”

Bai Xiaoxiao pouted, “How could I dare wake you? Someone gave express orders for you to sleep until you naturally wake up. He asked me not to disturb you. Ranran, do you find the flowers beautiful? I heard that Mo Xiuchen went to the Gu Family’s house to pluck them early in the morning. The flowers are still fresh, dewdrops hanging off their petals.”

The smile on Wen Ran’s face froze: “If you like them, you can have them.”

“I dare not take them. If I accept flowers that Mo Xiuchen gave you, wouldn’t he be furious? Ranran, you used to be so blissfully happy whenever I mentioned Mo Xiuchen. But now, you are visibly distressed at the mere mention of him. Anyone unfamiliar with the situation would think that you two are enemies.”

“I’m hungry. Have you had breakfast yet? I’ll see what there is to eat in the kitchen.”

Auntie Li has gone to buy groceries. What do you want for breakfast?”

“Anything!” said Wen Ran as she walked toward the kitchen. But she wasn’t really hungry. She just wanted to avoid talking about Mo Xiuchen.

Just as Wen Ran was about to enter the kitchen, the doorbell rang.

“Ranran, someone’s at the door!”

Hearing Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice from the living room, Wen Ran furrowed her brow, turned around, and went to answer the door.

“Miss, young Master asked me to bring you breakfast!”

Little Liu smiled genuinely, raising the insulated food box in his hands. Wen Ran stared at the box for a moment, touched her lips lightly and softly said, “Thank you, Little Liu.”

Little Liu nodded and smiled, “Young Master told me that you would probably sleep till ten, so he instructed me not to deliver the breakfast too early as it would become cold, and not too late in case you had already eaten.”

“I haven’t eaten yet, the timing of your delivery is just right.”

Wen Ran gave him a faint smile and stepped aside to let him in.

“I won’t come in. The young master gave me other tasks. Miss, after you finish eating, you can just leave the food box here. The young Master will come to get it himself.”

After saying that, Little Liu handed her the box, turned around, and left, as if he was afraid she would call him back.

“…”

Wen Ran watched as Little Liu scurried away, leaving her no choice but to close the door and carry the food box back into the living room.

“Ranran, what’s that?”

Upon seeing Wen Ran carrying the insulated food box, Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up and she fixed her gaze on the box in Wen Ran’s hand.

“It’s breakfast, brought by Little Liu.”

As Wen Ran opened the box, a delicious aroma wafted out. It was the breakfast she liked, still steaming hot. Neither early nor late. Just right.

“Little Liu? The one sent by Mo Xiuchen?” Bai Xiaoxiao exclaimed dramatically. The expression and tone clearly saying, Ranran, your happiness is making me so envious.

When Mo Xiuchen’s phone rang, he was sipping tea, having just finished a substantial amount of work. He thought to himself that Ranran should be awake by now.

Seeing the caller ID, he narrowed his eyes, set down the cup, and with a press of a long finger, he answered the phone. His voice was low and mellow: “Hello, Little Liu!”

“Young Master, I have handed the breakfast to Miss. She seems to have just woken up, saying that the timing of my delivery was just right.”

At those words, a smile appeared in Mo Xiuchen’s dark eyes, and the corners of his lips curled up slightly: “Good!”

What pleased him was that Wen Ran didn’t reject the breakfast he had sent through Little Liu. This meant that her adamant decision from yesterday was just spur-of-the-moment, and that with a little patience, he could win her back.

After ending the call, he leaned back in his chair and took a selfie with his phone, capturing his handsome features from all angles. He typed a few words, smiled satisfactorily, and sent the picture to Wen Ran.

Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao were eating the hot breakfast when her phone pinged. Bai Xiaoxiao laughed and said, “Ranran, you should check the message.”

“After I finish it. You should try to eat more, okay?”

Wen Ran shot her a look and took a small bite of the crab bun before checking her phone.

Bai Xiaoxiao curiously leaned in to see the message. As she saw that the message was from Mo Xiuchen, she looked surprised and then teased: “Ranran, when did Mo Xiuchen start to learn such a romantic way of messaging?”

“I don’t know.”

Indeed, Wen Ran didn’t know.

In their months together, he had never sent her a message like this.

But since last night, he had sent her several messages, each time with a picture attached. Before coming downstairs, she had checked the two messages he sent early this morning.

Now she was again looking at his picture with a caption, and she found it both funny and frustrating.

“It was probably Luo Haofeng’s idea.”

Wen Ran guessed, her clear eyes lingering on the man in the pictur. Once again, he had successfully disrupted her peace of mind.

“Luo Haofeng, haha, I thought it was strange that someone as emotionally reserved as Mo Xiuchen, who has never been in a relationship before, could be so romantic! However, if somebody advised him, that wouldn’t be so surprising.”

Bai Xiaoxiao sat back in place, laughing.

Wen Ran pursed her lips, put her phone back in her pocket, and continued with her breakfast.

“Don’t you have to reply?”

Bai Xiaoxiao asked with surprise when she saw Wen Ran put away her phone.

Wen Ran gave her a light glance and said softly, “No, once he stops getting replies, he will lose interest.” If she replied to him, wouldn’t that just encourage him to bother her countless times daily?

“Ranran, my thought is that you should not be so stubborn. Mo Xiuchen is truly excellent, and whatever your reasons are, you shouldn’t miss out on such a wonderful man. Do you really want to see him being intimate with another woman? I would rather die than let go.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s words hit Wen Ran hard.

Would she rather die than let go?

Wen Ran thought Bai Xiaoxiao could only say such a thing because she had not been in her position.

“Remember, Cheng Jia was going to be away for three months. Going by the dates, she should be coming back soon. Ranran, you should not do anything foolish that might give another woman a chance. If Mo Xiuchen is deceived, you won’t be able to get him back even if you cry.”

Wen Ran’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, her voice was calm and devoid of any emotive fluctuations: “I do not regret the decisions I’ve made!”
