Chapter 3248: Just Let It Go
?
When the twins asked how they could leave this Universe and go to another one, Rifindio commented about this formation. Of course, the twins could simply leave the Universe, enter the Great Void, and travel normally through spatial gates. It's just that such journeys would take very long. The twins wanted something more reliable.
The Abyssal Soul didn't know what they were thinking, so it just finished its explanation. "So, that's basically what Abyssal Paths are. Does this answer your question?"
Roan narrowed his eyes. "Could others harness this ability of your race to create a formation capable of using and building such paths?"
"As far as I can remember, no one was able to do such a thing. But then again, I'm not anyone important in my own race, and I have been sealed for who knows how long. If someone found a way during this time, then that's about it. It's not like I can see what happens beyond this Solar System," the Abyssal Soul concluded.
'Roan,' Rean called his attention. 'The Great Void Shifters probably can eliminate the danger of using the Abyssal Paths, but what about the path itself? Ask it if others can create those paths without the need for an Abyssal Beast.'
Roan nodded and passed the question ahead. "So, do you think it is possible?"
The Abyssal Soul didn't answer for a few seconds. "I find it hard to believe it is possible. If you told me someone used our race in some way to achieve it, then maybe. However, without us, I don't think creating new paths is possible. But then again, I don't know what happened outside during the time I've been here, so I can't guarantee my words."
"Very well," Roan then changed the topic. "Now, why were you sealed? Did you try to kill everyone in this Universe or some bullshit like that?"
"Destroy the Universe? What do I look like, a Universe Extinction Orb? I have confidence in my strength, but I'm nowhere near strong enough to even scratch something like a Universe."
Rean, Roan, and Kentucky didn't need to ask to know what the Abyssal Soul was talking about. It's just that instead of calling it Orb, those back in the Lisan Universe called it Extinction Sphere. By now, the twins' group already knows that those Spheres weren't something exclusive to their Universe. Instead, every Universe would pass through that calamity one day. The only question was when and whether the experts there could avoid it somehow.
Roan wasn't surprised by the Abyssal Soul's answer. If it truly had the power to destroy the Universe, it would be hard to imagine it was still sealed to this day. He only mentioned that to lead the Abyssal Soul into answering his question. "Is that so? Then why?"
Perhaps it was because the Abyssal Soul wasn't used to talking to others, but it was truly talkative today. "Hmph! Why else? Obviously, it was to force me to work for those fuckers back then. However, they truly underestimated me and my power over space. Once they sealed me, I took control of the other side and collapsed the runes..."
At that moment, the Abyssal Soul went silent. Yet, Roan snorted, already guessing the issue. "You are probably talking about the residents of those ruins in the past, right? Just so you wouldn't work for them, you broke the runes and made it impossible for them to use you. But, at the same time, you got yourself locked down for good."
The Abyssal Soul Shard stirred for a moment, unable to hide its emotions. "Shut up! It was not forever! I was going to get out of there if it weren't for the bunch of you!"
Everyone looked at each other, finding it funny. "If we did let you go ahead with that plan of yours, we would all be dead. What? Did you expect us to just sit by and wait to have our energies and life force taken away?"
"Hmph!" The Abyssal Soul wanted to say yes, but not even an idiot would agree to such a thing.
"I can't help but wonder why that civilization that imprisoned you perished," Zangeshu spoke on the side. "Was it you who did that?"
The Abyssal Soul answered with hate. "If I could, I would for sure have done that. I would extract everyone's soul, torture them for a hundred years, and then destroy them all, not giving a chance for reincarnation... But it was not me. By the time I finally managed to let a little bit of my energy escape that place, they had already perished. I wish I was there to laugh as they all died, at least."
It was pretty obvious that the Abyssal Soul didn't want to talk about that Civilization, but that wasn't a problem for Roan either. Whatever happened to them was not of his concern. He only asked out of curiosity. "Alright, then that's about it. If anyone has any questions to this thing, ask now."
There were a few extra questions from Foliana and the others, but none of them were of much importance. Nonetheless, the Abyssal Soul answered everything it could, afraid it would have Soul Shard destroyed. As for whether it had spoken the truth about it all or not, they couldn't really tell, not even Roan. This was just a Soul Shard, and even the voice it created by manipulating its Soul Power was weird. Roan couldn't read truth and lies in something like
that.
"Alright, I answered everything you guys wanted. Now, set my Soul Shard free," the Abyssal Soul asked.
Foliana and the others went silent for a moment, but Roan didn't need to think. "Sister Orb, just set it free."
[Eh? Are you sure?] Sister Orb and the others were taken aback.
Yet, Roan was certain. "This is just a Soul Shard; the real thing is still sealed. Even if destroying it would weaken the Abyssal Soul somehow, I doubt the damage will be that great. I would rather not antagonize this thing any further than we did since it is still trapped there. We have no access to that place and I don't think we have the power to destroy it even if we could enter. So, just let it go."
