Chapter 551 Confessing the Sin...
Zhang Jei’s words clicked Zhang Wei’s thought process and he remembered that he only confessed it to Xi Cheng in his drunk condition after a few months of Lu Jinhai’s accident.
In the past, In the private room of one lounge...
It was a late night when Zhang Wei was drinking with Xi Cheng. At that time, both were close friends as both had the same goal in mind, to destroy Lu Corporations.
Xi Cheng had his reason because it worried him that the Lu corporations would support Song Meilin against him as Song Meilin and Lu Jinhai were on good terms because of Song Meilin’s father whom Lu Jinhai adored. Zhang Wei’s explanation for this was Ming Fangsu, the revenge for the woman he loved all his life.
"Zhang Wei, my friend, I want to ask you something that you never answered before," Xi Cheng asked, finding it as the best opportunity to see drunk Zhang Wei.
"Ask whatever you want. As you are the only true friend I have, I won’t hide anything from you," said Zhang Wei, not noticing the evil in Xi Cheng’s eyes."
"Well then, tell me why do you hate Lu Jinhai this much that you even want to kill him?"
Zhang Wei couldn’t stop himself from spurting out the things which he kept buried in for so many years. "Because of that bastard, I lost the woman I loved the most, my Fangsu."
"Did he kill her?" Xi Cheng asked to get more things out, sensing the opportunity as finally, Zhang Wei lost his control over his thoughts.
"He was the reason she died so yes, he killed her. It’s all because of him. That bastard, why didn’t he die? Only if he will die, I can be in peace."
"I am feeling bad for you, my friend. That Lu Jinhai deserves to die." Xi Cheng added fuel in the fire. "But I didn’t get how he could take the woman away from you when you are this much capable? You are no less than him."
"I will tell you from the start. Wait." Zhang Wei emptied the whole glass of wine down his throat.
Xi Cheng waited calmly. "Hmm! I am here. You can trust me and tell me. It must be so difficult to not being able to share your pain with someone."
"Hmm! You are right. It hurts me here every single moment when I think about her," he said, as he placed his one hand on his heart.
Xi Cheng poured more alcohol into the glass of already drunk Zhang Wei and asked, "Tell me then."
"I and Ming Fangsu knew each other since we were kids as uncle Ming looked after me and my sister after our parent’s death. My father and uncle Ming were friends but treated each other like brothers. I spent my childhood with Ming Fangsu. we were best friends but for me, she was the only woman I ever loved. When we were adults and I thought everything will go the way it is, that bastard Lu Jinhai entered our lives just to shatter it. Ming Fangsu fell in love with him and me, who loved her for so long, was nobody other than just a best friend to her."
"Even when Lu Jinhai rejected her and married someone else, she couldn’t take him out of her heart. Still, there was no place for me. On the night of Lu Jinhai’s wedding, I couldn’t stop myself from drinking and when I saw her leaving the wedding early, I followed her to Ming Mansion. I just wanted to talk to her and ask why she can’t think of me as a man in her life and why I am just a friend. I wanted to tell her to come to me and I will always keep her happy. I wanted to pour my heart out and tell her how much I loved her, but things went in the wrong way."
"Wrong way?" Xi Cheng asked to know more, his eyes showing how curious he was and how happy he would be to know the truth after so long from this stubborn man.
"When I reached the Ming Mansion, I followed her to her room. When she saw me standing outside of the door of her room, seeing me drunk, she reacted as if I was a stranger and someone low life. She asked me to leave. We argued over why she can’t accept me and it went into me getting angry and determined to make her mine. I lost my mind and made the biggest mistake of my life. I forced myself on her. I hurt the woman I love as if I was a demon."
Zhang Wei who’s eyes were already shedding tears, cried out loud after saying it but he wanted to get everything out once and for all so he continued with his words not making being able to come out.
"The next day she...she was dead. She... took... her life and... left me alone. I know... I know, I was wrong and I still regret what I did, only if I can turn the time back...only if I can...."
"Hmm! I am sure it must be hard for you." Xi Cheng commented.
Zhang Wei continued crying for a while and said. "It was and still it is but the main reason for our lives to turn out like this was that Lu Jinhai. We were happy with our lives then why he came to meddle in and if he came why he made her fall in love with him when he had someone else in his heart. He is the reason what happened at that time and I won’t ever forgive him for this."
Zhang Wei sat silently in front of his sister remembering the past when he did the mistake of telling it to Xi Cheng.
"I still can’t forget the night when I committed the unforgivable sin, sister," said Zhang Wei.
"Neither did I and my biggest sin is to have you as my brother." To these words from her, Zhang Wei couldn’t say anything as he knew, he is the sinner.
