Chapter 1614 Jiang Yuyan's Order
1614 Jiang Yuyan's Order
"She would not only blame herself for Lu Qiang's death, but also blame herself for this situation of yours." Lu Feng continued, "Just as you're scared for her to find out the truth, she has been scared all along too, because she knew it would break you. It wasn't her fault, just as it wasn't your fault. The blame lies with those who caused us harm."
Lu Lijun could only listen, absorbing his brother's words.
"If you can't handle yourself right now and allow yourself to succumb to guilt and depression, then when she finds out the truth, you won't have the right to console her and tell her it wasn't her fault. You have to stop feeling guilty so that one day, when the moment comes, you can tell her it wasn't her fault either. Just as you discovered the truth, there's a high chance she will too. Jared Magnus won't sit still."
"I won't let him reach her," Lu Lijun declared.
"We have to consider every possibility. The truth is something that can't be hidden for long. Do you understand what I mean?"
Lu Lijun nodded as Lu Feng wiped tears away from Lu Lijun's cheeks, treating him like that kid Lu Lijun he had always cared for and gave him a comforting hug.
Lu Lijun hugged him back, letting his tears soak into Lu Feng's shoulder. "Brother Qiang would never forgive me for being part of those who took him away from Yuyan."
"You're wrong. Lu Qiang would never think that way. All he would want is your happiness. We know our younger brother could turn the entire world upside down to protect us," Lu Feng replied. "Cry all you want, but be strong after that. Don't let Jared Magnus' plan of breaking you succeed. Come out stronger so you can face him head-on. Can you do that?"
Lu Lijun nodded, and Lu Feng released him from the hug. "I know you can do it. Let's go downstairs and eat together. Her heart must be in her throat, wondering what we're talking about."
Lu Lijun nodded again, and they walked downstairs after he cleaned his face once more to get rid of any traces of tears.
Downstairs, Jiang Yuyan was waiting for them, anxiousness visible in her eyes. When she watched them two coming downstairs, only then she breathed relief. She went to Lu Lijun and held his hand, offering him a light smile, "Let's eat. I am starving."
Lu Lijun nodded and allowed her to guide him to the dining table. Others let out a sigh of relief. Noah message Jake informing him that Lu Lijun was fine and there was nothing to worry. Everyone accompanied them for the breakfast. On the breakfast table, Jiang Yuyan continued to serve food in Lu Lijun's dish. Their roles reversed this time as it was always the other way round. Lu Lijun, though not having any will to eat, continued to eat for Jiang Yuyan's sake. An Tian arrived there after having his most desired nap. "Such an enticing aroma, what do we have for breakfast?" he looked at all the dishes, "Lovely. After starving for long, this calls for nice treat," and sat in the chair. With his arrival, a quiet atmosphere lit up. An Tian turned to Noah, "I don't see your husband around? Did you make my brother tired of you in just one night? I thought he would be glued to you. But seems like you are not as interesting as I could think."
"Why would you think about how interesting I am, brother Tian?" Noah countered, "Don't tell me you are the kind who hit on his brother's wife."
"You never know," An Tian offered him a teasing smirk. "He is that kind of person, Noah," Jiang Yuyan spoke, "He often hit on me, knowing I am already married."
"That's my fees for keeping with your hellish tantrums for last ten years," An Tian replied, "No doctor must have a patient as difficult as you. I deserve a noble price for my past ten years hard work."
"How about a nice kick on butt?" Lu Feng asked, as he looked at An Tian. "As long as you can make me land in UK in that kick directly," An Tian replied with a smirk. "Someone's getting desperate to get back huh? You must miss that skeleton in your closet," Jiang Yuyan commented. "I must say, it's interesting," An Tian admitted. "Well, then you can head back. We won't hold you back here," Jiang Yuyan spoke. "After calling me here in the middle of catching my flight, now you can't wait to send me away," An Tian shook his head, "world is full of ungrateful people."
With their banter, the atmosphere around didn't seem that dull. Others left while Lu Feng stayed back. Lu Lijun wanted to go to work. "Why don't you take a leave today?" Jiang Yuyan asked, as she followed him upstairs. "There is an important meeting I need to attend," He answered calmly as if he was fine. But Jiang Yuyan didn't believe him. She followed him inside the room. before he could go to wardrobe to get new sets of clothes, Jiang Yuyan held his hand and made him sit on the couch. "You need to talk to me first," she spoke as she knelt in front of him. "I am alright, Yuyan. Trust me," he replied calmly, "I just need to take care of important matters related to the new project."
She stared at him for a while and then spoke, "Swear on my name that you won't do anything wrong? That you won't put yourself in harm."
"I won't," he assured, his demeanour calm but somehow it unsettled Jiang Yuyan. "All I need is you to be by my side always. I do not need any revenge or anything. I want peace, you and me together."
"I know," he caressed her cheek with his hand, "Do not worry about me, alright?"
She nodded hesitantly. She would have preferred him crying, but this silence and calmness was worrisome. "Once you finish work, come home. I would be waiting for you to eat together," she said. Lu Lijun nodded, "Now, I need to get ready."
She nodded and stood up along with him. She mumbled. "I don't know why I feel like you are with me, but not at the same time."
Lu Lijun heard her and observed her lowered face. He realised his behaviour was worrying him. He wanted to be normal, but for some reason, he could not. All he could do was to comfort her with words, the words that felt empty to him as well. He hugged her, "I am here and will always be here by your side."
Yuyan nodded and finally calmed herself. Soon Lu Lijun left for the office while Jiang Yuyan called San Zemin, "Update me everything about Lu Lijun every fifteen minutes."
"Yes, Boss."
"Also, arrange for me to meet Jared Magnus as soon as possible."
There was a silence in the other side of the line. "San Zemin, did you hear me?" she asked. "Y-Yes, boss," He replied, "But I guess there is no use in meeting him. Lu Lijun is handling everything."
"I need to him and do not let Lu Lijun know about it," she declared, her voice authoritative as if she was still there boss. "If you can't do it, then I will find my own way to meet him."
"No, Boss. I will arrange for you to meet him," he assured and she hung up the call.
