Chapter 153: Probably Not
Chapter 153: Probably Not
After knotting the lines together, Linfel pointed at the entrances. "Each of us will go in one direction. There is enough line for 500 meters in each roll, and since we are knotting them together, there is a kilometer from one end to the other. That should be much more than the total area of effect of the Magic Array."
Everyone felt confused. "How would that disrupt the Magic Array?"
"That is quite simple," Linfel explained. "The Spatial Array must be focusing on us individually. If my theory is correct, it works like a bubble, and we are inside this bubble. Once we go in different directions, the Magic Array will have to create a bubble for each of us."
"However, because we are connected by the fishing lines, we can't truly disconnect from each other," he continued. "The array will have trouble separating us into our own bubbles and will be forced to expand the original bubble instead. I doubt it was made with that plan in mind, so the array should show some reaction. At least, I think it will."
No one had a better idea at the moment, so they all agreed with the plan. "Alright. But what if we break out of this Magic Array? What would we expect to find?"
"Who knows?" Linfel shrugged. "If I had the answer to that question, I would be working with the Ventis Sect here, too. Of course, be prepared for everything. Perhaps as soon as we break out of it, if we break, of course, we might end up in the middle of a pack of Magic Beats."
Alvin and the others didn't even want to think about it. "Okay, let's give it a try."
Linfel nodded. "Let's keep moving away from each other until the end of our lines. Simply, we are locked inside some kind of Spatial Bubble; there is no need to go walking. Just start running, and I will float at the same speed. Alvin, you are on your own since I will go back."
Alvin didn't like the idea of going into one of the paths alone, but there wasn't much of a choice if they wanted to cover all four paths. "Let's do this."
Then, Alvin rushed into the left path. Milia and Nori took the middle one, while Zandel and Kefin went to the right. Linfel, obviously, turned around and rushed back to where they started.
The lines expanded, and for the first tens of meters, nothing ordinary seemed to be happening. However, after they crossed a hundred meters of line in their reels, the space around them began to show signs of instability. Surprisingly, this simple plan truly seemed to be working.
They kept running, and soon, all four sides had gone 400 meters away from each other, or basically, 200 meters of their lines were used. The space continued to contort even more. The weird thing was that the pitch-black cave began to show cracks of light everywhere.
Alvin stopped for a moment. 'Is this okay? This is far more than just a disruption...'
Then, he heard a voice echoing from behind. "Everyone, you are probably seeing the same thing as me," Linfel spoke. He was using his Magic Energy to amplify his voice and make it go further enough to reach the others easily. "The Magic Energy is not stagnant anymore, so the plan is working. Don't worry, though. The Magic Energy isn't in a state that can cause us harm either.
Just keep moving further away from each other in case you stopped moving."
"Alright!" Milia's voice was the next one to echo a second later. She also had stopped for the same reason. "Let's keep going!"
Alvin took a deep breath and turned around again, immediately resuming his run away from Linfel and the others. "It's not like I have a better idea anyway," he murmured to himself.
In the end, there was no need to use all the five hundred meters of line in each reel. By the time they reached three hundred, the space around finally collapsed. Light entered everyone's eyes, so bright that they were forced to close them. Even Linfel and the other Familiars seemed to be affected by that, and they didn't even have eyes.
After a few seconds, the light began to normalize, allowing everyone to see again. All around them, shards of what seemed a broken glass disappeared in the air. Inside those glasses, the image of the dark cave could be seen before it disappeared with the glasses. Obviously, they were made of Magic Energy, and now that they lost their effect, they were dissipating.
After those shards disappeared, what they found was not the walls of a cave anymore. Instead, they were standing in the middle of an enormous white room. From the looks of it, the room was at least a few kilometers wide from one side to the other. Milia, Alvin, Zandel, Linfel, Nori, and Kefin looked in the direction of their lines and saw each other in the distance.
They escaped the Spatial Magic Array.
"It worked!" Zandel couldn't help but shout. The Ventis Sect wasn't known for caring about its new disciples' lives, so Zandel truly thought they might starve to death in those caves. Well, it was obvious they weren't inside any cave but some kind of Spatial Illusion instead.
Linfel laughed. "Hahaha! See! It told you the Array wasn't made for such things."
Their group quickly gathered again. "Is everyone okay?" Alvin asked, looking at Milia.
Milia and Nori nodded. "Other than that light and the scare caused by the collapsing of the array, nothing else happened."

Zandel then looked around and noticed a huge closed gate at the end of one of the sides of the room. It was basically the only thing in the room that wasn't completely white, having a blueish color instead. Zandel tried to see if there were any stairs or anything leading upwards, but there was nothing there.
"Guess we can only open that gate and see where it leads us," Linfel commented, already moving in that direction.
However, Milia, Zandel, and Alvin quickly stopped him. "Are you crazy? What if that is truly a boss room?!"
Linfel shrugged. "We kill it and get out. What else is there to be done? Come on! It might be fun!"
Everyone felt like crying. They highly doubted there was anything fun on the other side.
