Everything was messed up. The Knights Templars who were stationed in St Petersburg were nominally drawing a line between the war zones, but instead, they were actually there to protect Moonlight City. Most of them knew that Lola was much weaker compared to Nicholas. It was a fatal hit to Lola when the Knights Templar had decided to be on Nicholas’s side. Although she had noticed that the movement of Nicholas’s troops was a little frequent, she had still underestimated Nicholas’s determination. If he has decided not to do something, he will pretend to be deaf and dumb, but if he has decided to do it, he will vigorously do it with all of his efforts. This has been Nicholas’s style all along.
With the Knights Templars’ guidance, they attacked cities one after another, and the troops of the Kingdom of Magnificent Light also spread like an open fan and attacked several big cities at once. It was obvious that Nicholas’s ambitions were wild, and it also showed that he had endured for too long and too much in the past.
The cities that were attacked by the troops of the Kingdom of Magnificent Light tried their best to defend themselves. They knew that even if they lost or surrendered, they would still end up dead! In every city conquered by the Kingdom of Magnificent Light, Nicholas would cause bloodshed in the upper class of the city.
‘I gave you the opportunity to join me, but you refused. It is too late to surrender once my troops have attacked your city.’ This was Nicholas’s style. He would never give anyone second chances.
City lords could have all kinds of flaws, but a lack of power could not be one of them. A lot of high-grade superiors or talented people would willingly be attached to a strong and powerful lord. This was because, in this chaotic world, everyone needs a sense of security. However, lords are still ordinary human beings. If he provides a sense of security to his subordinates, who protects him?
There were countless powerful people sitting below Nicholas, of which included four dragon knights. This was just a friendly gesture of the Land of Dragons. There were numerous other powerful high-grade superiors and professions who were seated below him. These people were definitely qualified to conquer places in the outside world with their strength and power, but they decided to stay with Nicholas. This was because most of the forces on the mainland were already saturated, and it was difficult to gain any benefits from destroying those vast forces. Plus, they needed a guarantee. Nicholas was a powerful person, and he was definitely an undeniable guiding light in this chaotic world!
This was a war that had no lesson to teach. No one would be able to be as powerful as Nicholas; even the church seemed to be inferior to him.
Louise and Panven were still on their way. They had returned to Moonlight City before this, but as soon as they had met with Lola, they had been chased out of the city. Lola had told them to ask the Church for help, but Nicholas’s tactic was to break through from both sides and completely cover the center. The allies of Moonlight City were either dead or had escaped, and even the road to the Church had already been completely blocked. It had only been a dozen days since Nicholas had started, but the situation had already reached such an irreversible state.
Panven knew that asking for help from the Church was just an excuse. Lola had only wanted her sister to leave the city. Jeddes was not dead, and this was significant news. However, Lola’s eyes had dimmed down as fast as they had lit up with excitement. Pass the news to the Knight Templars? No one would believe her; they would only think that she’s lying. Panven had discussed it with Lola before that the guest should have Jeddes’s token with him. However, Lola didn’t seem to be interested at all. There were rumors everywhere that Lola had been the one who had killed Jeddes and injured Nicholas, and that Nicholas had used a space scroll to escape before he had been killed. This meant that Jeddes’s body had been left behind; wouldn’t it have been easy to get his token? At this point, the token was basically useless!
If the guest had come to Moonlight City before the war had started, they could have met the generals of the Knights Templar together, and there would still have been a chance for them to crack Nicholas’s conspiracy. However, it was too late now. The voices to avenge Jeddes had become the main topic of the people, as the prejudiced judgment had already been deeply rooted within their hearts. The entire army was filled with anger, and it was already impossible to communicate with them, let alone try to change their minds.
After leaving Moonlight City, Blanche and them went separate ways. Although Lola and Louise were her best friends, she was more worried about her own race.
Blanche had seen how horrible the situation was. No one would politically be Nicholas’ opponent once Moonlight City has collapsed. Even if the Church had the power, it was impossible for them to be publicly against Nicholas. There was no other spokesperson for the Church that was worth supporting than Lola.
When Nicholas takes over the entire Southwest territory, the Elf Village has to be evacuated. They have to stop Nicholas from getting to the Moon Well!
Along the way, it had been an eye-opening experience for Han Jin. This was his first time seeing a large-scale war with his own eyes. In the beginning, he had been flying around in the sky, so he could clearly see the whole picture of Nicholas’s troops, but after a while, he had gotten frustrated. Nicholas’s troops were very disciplined, and he was constantly being disturbed by the attacks from magicians and archers. There was even once where he had almost been attacked by the Demon Annihilator Crossbow. He was lucky that the army had been marching and had not used any magic shields; Han Jin had seen the crossbow from a distance and was able to escape from it.
Earthmeld’s speed was not as fast as Swordlight, and after travelling at night for three days, he was finally able to sense that Louise was about twenty miles away from him. The mystery of Daoism was not something that could be explained with words. Before coming, he had left the same type of Tracing Charm on Yalina, so even at such a distance, he was still able to sense Yalina’s position. Therefore, looking for Louise was definitely a piece of cake.
Han Jin knew that he had failed to complete the purpose of this trip, but he had to finish what he had started. He’ll find Louise and ask her about the situation before deciding what to do next.
As the distance between them got closer, Han Jin jumped out from the ground. Suddenly, he heard the screams and shouts of killing and immediately knew that something was wrong. He took out the Swordlight and started flying in that direction.
On a wide road, there were hundreds of people who were fighting one another, and Louise was one of the people who were trapped in the situation. Han Jin had seen the skills of this ‘wildcat’. Even if she was completely surrounded by her enemies, she still remained fierce as usual. Although a dagger was the most useless weapon in a crowd fight, Louise was still able to easily approach her opponents, and each time the dagger swung across, an opponent would die.
There were also four knights next to Louise. Their strengths were much stronger than the guards from before. Plus, they were using four types of different skills. There was fire blasting, silver snakes that were slithering, and even freezing cold currents being blown, all of which were used to slowly torture their enemies.
When compared to Louise’s party, their enemies were of a weaker strength. In fact, Louise’s side could have easily broken out of their enemies’ encirclement. Then, Han Jin saw Panven and found the issue. Although they were at a far distance, Han Jin’s vision had improved and was now much sharper than before. Han Jin could see that there was an arrow on Panven’s back and that he was struggling to walk. If it wasn’t because of the two knights who were holding him up, he would have immediately fallen to the ground.
Outside of the circle, there were dozens of knights standing on high ground who were observing the situation and demanding the army to attack. Suddenly, they saw a green ray shoot out from the sky. All of them turned around, and their faces showed signs of uncertainty.
Louise obviously knew who was coming and looked excited, while her actions became even more fierce. The knights weren’t sure if they were a friend or enemy. Therefore, they didn’t dare to attack nor take any action.
Louise obviously knew that reinforcement had arrived, but the enemies also had reinforcements. Two magicians flew from a distance towards the battlefield. Upon seeing Han Jin, they immediately cast a Magical Shield along with a Shield of Air. No one knew who Han Jin was in the southwestern district, but when they saw that Han Jin was floating in the air with some strange magic prop in hand, they assumed that he was a magician. The Shield of Air and Magical Shield both focused on magic defense.
Other than the two magicians, there was another troop of at least hundreds of knights coming in their direction. Han Jin saw the knights and looked back at the two magicians in front of him. Louise may be able to hold off the knights, but if both of those magicians are to be involved, the consequences may be unpredictable.
“Your excellency, are you...” the magician on the left started talking.
“They’re your enemies?” Han Jin smiled while pointing in Louise’s direction.
“Yes.”
“They are my enemies too,” Han Jin softly said. He suddenly thought of the child and the impression that he had given.
Although the child was a true professional, he was too young, and his strength was very much limited. If he were to compare the child’s ability to Moxinke who was one of the weakest among his companions, there was still a huge difference. In fact, it was impossible for Moxinke to do the child any harm, but the child, who was much weaker than Moxinke, would be able to do so. It gave him chills every time he thought of the scene.
Such a young child was such an insidious person. He had known that Han Jin didn’t want to hurt him, and had given up. He had pretended to be unconscious, and when he had seen a chance, he had attacked with no hesitancy.
At least this journey hadn’t been a waste of time. He had managed to get a dragon crystal, the energy of a young dragon’s blood, and Han Jin had even learned a thing or two from the child.
The best way to learn would usually be by certain bloody living examples or experiences. If Han Jin were to forget the lesson that he had just learned, there must be something wrong with him.
“Sir, you are...” The magician showed a hesitant look.
“Can’t you see where I came from?” Han Jin laughed. “Are you guys going to do it or I have to do it myself?”
Han Jin had flown in from the south which was Nicholas and Lola’s territories, and plus, Han Jin had pointed out that his enemy was Louise, which had made his identity very clear. Both of the magicians showed a sign of relief and determination. They looked at one another, and one of them hurriedly said, “Sir, why don’t you just leave this to us? This...”
“This is a present from our lord to the King!” the other magician interrupted.
“As long as they die here today.” Han Jin spread his hands open and gave a sign for them to go on.
“Thank you, Sir.” Both magicians laughed together while replying. In order to judge one’s strength, it’s not necessary for them to fight. This person had a magic prop in hand that they had never seen or even heard of before, which showed that he was a powerful man; he may even be one of Nicholas’ subordinates. Acting politely and respectfully may even benefit them in the future.
