Chapter 2589 The Distressed Sha'er

Chapter 2589  The Distressed Sha'er

Lin Mu conversed with Grandmaster Lao for a while before finally taking his leave. However, before he departed, the Grandmaster extended an invitation for Lin Mu to visit the Immortal Court, offering him special benefits should he decide to make the journey.

Lin Mu smiled politely, expressing his gratitude for the offer. "I will certainly visit in the future, but I have other plans at the moment," he explained, careful not to promise a timeline he couldn't uphold.

The old man nodded in understanding and did not press further. With their conversation concluded, they exited together.

Outside, Lin Mu was greeted by an unexpected sight: a majestic beast awaited them. It was an enormous bird with six grand wings. Its feathers shimmered with a mixture of white and red, and two long orange tail feathers swayed elegantly behind it. The creature's talons gleamed like sharpened meat hooks, exuding an aura of strength.

Its beak was a vivid blood-red, and its eyes glowed with an intense combination of orange and yellow. The beast lounged confidently in the Imperial Garden, preening its feathers as if fully aware of its magnificence.

"A Six-Winged Bloom Tail Crane?" Lin Mu identified the creature almost instantly.

The bird was a formidable being, its cultivation level firmly at the Seventh Tribulation Stage of the Immortal Realm. Lin Mu could sense its pride as it observed the surroundings with an air of superiority.

"Ah, meet my tamed beast and dear companion, Sha'er," Grandmaster Lao introduced her with evident pride.

Sha'er turned her head toward her master and let out a melodious cry. "Piiiiii," she trilled, her voice a harmonious blend of elegance and power.

"Isn't she a beauty?" Grandmaster Lao asked, clearly delighted.

"She sure is," Lin Mu agreed, understanding the bond between the man and his beast. As a beast tamer himself, he could relate to such closeness.

"Oh, that reminds me," the Grandmaster said suddenly. "I've heard that you are a beast tamer as well?"

"I am," Lin Mu confirmed with a nod. "I have a few companions of my own."

"Good! Good!" The old man's joy grew even more pronounced. "We should let our beasts get acquainted too," he suggested enthusiastically, clearly eager to share the camaraderie of their tamed creatures.

"Sure," Lin Mu agreed, summoning Little Shrubby and the twin serpents, Xiao Yin and Xiao Yang.

He chose not to summon Ashy, his small bird companion, at the moment. Her unique abilities and sensitive nature made her interactions with others a bit unpredictable. Lin Mu also considered how Ashy might feel when faced with a fully grown Six-Winged Bloom Tail Crane.

HISS HISS~

Little Shrubby appeared on Lin Mu's shoulder in his kitten form, while the twin snakes coiled around his arms, their scales glinting like polished gems. However, the moment the trio manifested, Sha'er's demeanor changed dramatically.

"PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" The crane let out a piercing cry, flapping her wings in frantic distress. Without warning, she retreated nearly a kilometer away, her fear evident in every movement.

"Sha'er! What's wrong?" Grandmaster Lao exclaimed, visibly startled by his beast's uncharacteristic reaction.

The disciples and even Emperor Feng appeared equally surprised. Sha'er, who was always proud and composed, now acted utterly terrified. Her behavior was baffling, considering her cultivation level and her usual confidence.

Of course, they were unaware of the true reason behind her fear. The trio of beasts that Lin Mu had summoned possessed extraordinarily powerful bloodlines. The innate aura they exuded was enough to intimidate most beings, and Sha'er was no exception.

Furthermore, the twin snakes carried a faint scent that struck terror into the crane. It reminded her of an overwhelming presence she had once encountered in the Rust Sky World, a memory that sent chills through her.

Grandmaster Lao hurried to calm his tamed beast, stroking her feathers and communicating with her through their bond. After a few moments, he pieced together the cause of her fear.

The old man glanced back at the small kitten and the snakes in Lin Mu's embrace, a wry smile forming on his face. 'Even his beasts are extraordinary. Their bloodlines are far from ordinary,' he thought, feeling a mix of awe and respect.

As a fellow beast tamer, Grandmaster Lao recognized the immense strength of Lin Mu's companions. However, he refrained from asking further, knowing it was impolite to pry into another's secrets.

"Pardon me, but Sha'er seems a bit intimidated. I think it's best for us to take our leave before she becomes more distressed," Grandmaster Lao said diplomatically, adjusting his plans.

"Farewell," Lin Mu replied, respecting the Grandmaster's decision. He could guess the cause of Sha'er's reaction but chose not to dwell on it, allowing the old man to save face.

"Goodbye, Daoist Lin Mu," Shu Shaoxing said, bowing slightly before joining his master and fellow disciples atop the crane beast.

WHOOSH

In a burst of wind, Sha'er took flight, her wings propelling her away from the Imperial Garden as swiftly as possible. Her haste left no doubt about her discomfort.

"Well, that was awkward," Crown Prince Feng Shun remarked, breaking the silence.

"Indeed," Emperor Feng agreed with a subtle nod.

"I shall take my leave now as well," Lin Mu said shortly and departed, flying toward his courtyard.

As he soared through the air, the twin serpents began to stir.

"We wanna play!" Xiao Yin said, her voice filled with excitement.

"Yeah, we wanna go get snacks!" Xiao Yang chimed in eagerly.

Lin Mu chuckled at their enthusiasm. "Alright, you can go. Little Shrubby, take care of them and bring Ashy along too. You all deserve some time to relax," he said, releasing all his beasts.

"YAY!" Ashy's cheerful voice rang out as she joined the group.

"I'll keep an eye on them," Little Shrubby assured, taking on his role as the responsible elder.

WHOOSH

In the blink of an eye, the squad took off, their laughter and cheerful cries echoing through the skies as they headed toward the expansive garden. Lin Mu smiled faintly, glad to see his companions enjoying themselves.
