Chapter 309 The fight
Chapter 309 The fight
The start that Rocky and team had obtained was everything that Rocky could ever hope for, as he plunged Nunu and his security detail into absolute panic, however, their luck was about to run out, as the moment the explosions stopped and the security team had time to regroup, was the moment that their downfall began.
First, it was the rogue who spotted Buhara, closing in on the orc with deadly speed, as Buhara only managed to survive his first attack by the skin of his teeth, as he veered to the left ever so slightly to dodge the incoming slash to his neck.
Had he been a fraction of a second slower, he would have undoubtedly lost his life, and it was mostly because of his raw survival instinct that Buhara survived the attempt on his life narrowly.
Without hesitation, Buhara crushed the teleportation tokens strapped to his wrist at that moment, teleporting out of the graveyard as was Rocky's instructions, as the old orc knew that never in his wildest dreams could he ever hope to fight a tier5 rogue on his own.
It was a very wise decision on his part too, as had he not teleported out of the area, the rogue's very next attack would have killed him, however, thankfully Buhara's life did not end just yet as he managed to get away safely.
"Watchout–, they're bailing away using teleportation tokens!" The rogue shouted, alarming the others that the attackers were running away, as this sentence bothered the lead swordsman the most, who was eager now to capture the assailants responsible for this attack and making them pay for their insolence.
"Omar, put a teleportation lock on this area….nobody leaves this place without us allowing it–" the swordsman ordered, as a mage who seemed to be at his limits from holding the security barrier for so long nodded and began casting the teleportation lock spell.
'No…nonononono' thought Rocky, as alarm bells began blaring in his head.
Their whole plan rest on the fact that they could teleport their way out to safety whenever they wanted, and if they could not then their plan was doomed to fail.
'I can't let him cast that spell–' thought Rocky, as boldly, and rather foolishly, he stepped out from behind the gravestone he was hiding and started to use some of his system store spells.
"Hey you— CATCH!" Rocky said as he quickly activated the Void Trap Rune and threw it towards the mage chanting the teleportation lock spell.
The rune sailed through the air, landing silently beneath the mage's feet, as within moments, the rune activated, creating an invisible trap that ensnared the mage, dragging him into a pocket dimension for three seconds.
Rocky watched eagerly as the mage vanished, his teleportation spell disrupted instantly.
The shimmering light of the teleportation lock spell flickered and faded away as the mage's absence caused the spell to fail completely.
The moment the mage reappeared, disoriented and confused from the brief stint in the pocket dimension, Rocky didn't hesitate. He hurled the Arcane Detonation Orb directly at the mage, this time with the intent to kill his life.
Boom!
The orb exploded on impact, releasing a massive surge of raw arcane energy that engulfed the mage in a brilliant flash.
The force of the explosion tore through the mage's body, sending him flying backward as the searing energy consumed him.
By the time the arcane smoke cleared, the mage was nothing more than a lifeless, charred form crumpled on the ground.
"The enemy has powerful tools…. Beware–" said the old God Nuna, as he seemed bothered by the objects that Rocky wielded, knowing full well that these were not run of the mill weapons easily available in black markets.
*Thump* *Thump* *Thump*
Rocky barely had any time to register his success before the heavy footsteps of the swordsman charged toward him.
The man's eyes blazed with fury, his sword gleaming as he swung it down toward Rocky with deadly intent.
"You're going to regret that!" the swordsman roared, his blade slashing toward Rocky's head.
Rocky ducked just in time, the blade whistling past his ear, as he felt his heart jump out into his mouth.
He knew he couldn't outrun or outfight a swordsman of this caliber in direct combat, so he made a snap decision.
Activating the Phantom Strike Elixir, Rocky felt a strange sensation wash over him as his body became ethereal.
The swordsman lunged again, but this time, his blade passed harmlessly through Rocky's now-phantom form, as this caused the swordsman to reel back from surprise, momentarily bewildering him as he paused to reassess.
Taking advantage of the confusion, Rocky pulled out a Shockwave Bomb and hurled it at the ground between them.
*KABOOM*
The bomb exploded with a forceful shockwave, sending the swordsman flying backward, his body crashing into a nearby gravestone, while Rocky remained unaffected in his phantom form.
Dazed and struggling to regain his footing, the swordsman groaned in pain, as Rocky, acting quickly, grabbed another flame grenade, trying to capitalize on the swordsman's momentary weakness.
*Chunk*
Tossing the grenade towards the recovering swordsman, Rocky ran away as the effects of the phantom form ended.
*KABOOM*
The bomb exploded at the swordsman's feet, its flames erupting upon impact as it enveloped him in a wave of fire.
The swordsman let out a guttural scream as the fire scorched his armor and skin. But even as the flames licked at his body, the swordsman pushed through the pain, standing up with a vengeance in his eyes.
Rocky's heart raced as he realized the fight was far from over. The swordsman, though injured, was not ready to give up—and Rocky needed more than just fire and bombs to survive what came next.
"How the fuck did he not die?" Rocky voiced out loud, however, just as he wondered as to how the swordsman was still standing, Kronos lept in from his blindside, slicing the burning guy in half as he unleashed a powerful vitality strike from his black blade.
