Unlimited Power 03: The Sinful Ruler

Chapter 298 Cold Power (2)

Chapter 298 Cold Power (2)

In any case, the monster charged at Jake again, and while he wanted to welcome the stupidity of the beast of letting the blood rush to its head, he wanted to recover from the damage first. The only problem was the fact that even walking was painful for Jake… with that in mind, Jake waited until the very last moment until the Ice Breath made him disappear from the enemy's field of vision. Once that happened, he used Mana Blade.

During the whole time, the dark flames never disappeared from Jake's sword. Thanks to that, his concentrated attack pierced the area of effect one from the enemy and almost pierced his eye as well. The monster's attack still weakened Jake's combo and changed its course… but it cut his face, opening another wound that won't heal.

The pain made the enemy flinch when closed its eyes for a moment. Thanks to that, Jake moved to the monster's blind spot on the left side and then bombarded its left side with combinations of Mana Blade and dark flames. This time, his attacks hit and pierced the enemy's eyelids, and eventually, the beast lost its vision in the left eye.

The boss tried to hit Jake with its left paw, but he wasn't crazy enough to stay in the range of the monster while attacking. He moved away and then used his skills. Eventually, the monster realized that and turned only to see him a few dozen meters away. Jake had recovered a little, but his body still needed a little more time to recover. A time that the monster wasn't planning to give.

"The same trick won't work again. I need something new…" Jake thought.

Jake didn't have much time to think, so he let his instincts help him. He used all of his buffs and then activated Sonic Thrust toward the face of the beast. His sudden charge made him cross the range of Ice breath almost instantly, making him receive close to no damage… And then he attacked the monster's face.

Despite the surprise, the monster had reflexes crazy enough to slow down and use both claws to block the attack. Still, his flames began to melt the claws of the creature, making it grunt in pain. Despite that, when they collided, Jake was still pushed backward. When that finally stopped, Jake's stance didn't break, but the monster opened its mouth.

"You sure like to do that…" Jake said and then fired multiple Mana Blades.

The combination with the dark flames pierced the interior of the monster's mouth and made the beast tremble all over. Jake wanted to use that chance to attack the paws of the monster and decrease that mobility, but he decided to play smart and cast Regeneration a few more times. When the beast finally recovered, Jake also felt like his bones were grinding against his flesh anymore, and he was able to keep his focus.

Although his attacks supposedly couldn't make the enemy bleed, Jake saw some blood dripping from the boss' mouth. He assumed that the monster was so pissed that it was biting its own lips that hard. Regardless, he also welcomed the damage that the enemy caused to itself.

Instead of charging like before, the boss approached Jake very slowly while the creature also fired multiple ice spears. The creature was trying to tire him out with that, and that wasn't a bad strategy. However, Jake could read the lines of the attacks pretty easily from that distance, and dodging those was even easier.

Despite that, the monster kept approaching and attacking in the same manner. Eventually, Jake began to have a hard time dodging all of the attacks. Still, he waited patiently since he was also charging the effect of his sword… he wasn't losing much by being patient for a change either.

The boss learned its lesson and didn't attack while using Ice Breath, on the next time, it just charged normally. Jake clicked his tongue since it was harder to surprise the enemy that way. Still, he waited for the enemy to enter his range. Once that happened, he used Flash to the side of the creature and then used Steel Storm.

Jake's sword slashed on several parts of the right side of the boss, and thanks to the dark flames, the creature flinched, unable to react to the attacks. He thought that such a thing would happen since the boss was of the ice attribute, but not to that extent. It felt like Jake could finish things up that way now that the tail was no longer there. Still, despite the monster's pain, the creature still managed to bombard him with ice spears.

This time, Jake got hit on his sides when the final motion of the skill ended, and those projectiles pierced and froze his body quite a bit, but he just clenched his teeth and ignored the pain. Jake activated the skill again, but before he could do that, the enemy used its right paw to attack him. Jake spun so fast that the enemy only hit his sword, but he still was sent away while sliding on the frozen ground.

Before he could stop, the monster used its ice spears again… Jake was getting tired of seeing those. To the point that he decided to use Deflect. While swinging his sword, Jake sent those back at the enemy. Since the level of the skill was low, he suffered some damage, but at least he made the projectiles cancel each other.

Eventually, the monster stopped and then charged at Jake. All of his magic attacks were useless against him, so the beast could only rely on its physical attacks. Even by using his brain, it would be impossible for Jake to win a contest of brute strength after all… Or so the enemy thought.

The enemy charged at Jake and then swung its claws toward him. Once again, Jake blocked the strike with his sword and was sent to the side while his body and sword were trembling all over. However, when the enemy tried that again, Jake used Sonic Blows to stop the attack. He failed and was pushed away again, but then the boss noticed a sharp pain in its claws.
