Chapter 1103: Chapter 1103 Marcus Gives Up
Chapter 1103: Chapter 1103 Marcus Gives Up
During his battle against Sato, Marcus had not been trying particularly hard to beat his fellow transmigration. His goal was to break Sato's will to continue fighting.
Despite being on the receiving end of an ambush, Marcus still felt a sort of kinship with another person that originated from Earth. He could tell that Sato was not in a particularly good emotional state and was hoping to stop him here without bloodshed. If he could assist someone with similar circumstances to himself, he wanted to even if they were currently an enemy.
All of the spells and attacks he had been using were meant only to incapacitate Sato, though, none of them had hit their mark. Sato's skills were high level, and he had a great deal of battle experience. Halfhearted attacks were not going to bring him down.
Still, none of his strikes could harm Marcus, so he figured it was just a matter of time until Sato understood that he could not win.
'This should make him realize that he can't beat me. Hurry up and yield already.'
Marcus had seen through Sato's plan to obtain some sort of vials from Adonis and confiscated them with his spectral arm before his opponent could obtain them.
After that he hammered home the fact that there was nothing his fellow transmigration could do against him.
'There it is. I can see in his eyes that he has recognized the futility in continuing.' Marcus thought, paying close attention to his foe's expression.
Yet, the despair on Sato's face, disappeared abruptly and he turned his attention to somewhere in the distance.
At first Marcus did not understand what Sato had figured out to restore his hope of winning.
However, when he did, his eyes went wide in fury and whatever feelings of compassion he held for Sato vanished in an instant.
Marcus shot after the man he now recognized as someone he had to kill.
'Embodiment of Eclipse, Dark Form.'
Wrapping himself in the power of his Supreme Skill, Marcus soon caught up to Sato just in time to stop him.
He unleashed all of the animosity he could towards the man that was targeting his wife and in the same moment released his strongest specter power that was often too dangerous to use.
'Deathly Dominion.'
A dark gray, sludge-like substance erupted from Marcus' feet and covered several kilometers around him.
Everything within the area that was living began to have its life force drained, while Marcus, being a ghost, felt greater strength flowing into him.
The air became unbelievable chilly, and the surrounding light was dissipated until it looked like twilight despite the fact that it was currently midday.
"What the hell is this?!"
Sato's face was warped with confusion and fear as he was engulfed by Marcus' Deathly Dominion.
Never before had he experienced anything like this. He could feel both his life and strength being sapped away even as he fought to mitigate the effects of Marcus' specter power.
"This is going to be your grave." Marcus responded, his voice devoid of any warmth. "I wanted to take you alive, but I give up. I should not have extended that courtesy to you simply because you are also a transmigration. You maybe be hurting from loss, but that does not mean I will overlook you aiming to kill Mrazivý.
I see now that all you are capable of is inflicting the same pain you feel onto others."
With a wave of his hand, Marcus began his assault against Sato anew.
However, unlike before his attacks were no longer meant only to incapacitate, they were meant to kill.
Inky black tendrils shot out of the mire created by the Deathly Dominion and surged towards the single living entity within the area.
Immediately Sato snaps out of his initial astonishment. He had been in all manner of life and death situations and his body almost acts on its own to keep him safe.
His sword in hand he cuts through all of the tendrils attempting to grab him.
When things have cleared up a bit, he picks a direction and runs at full speed to escape. Any thoughts of defeating Marcus have left his mind. Now his priority had switched to staying alive.
"You're not going to get away."
Appearing out of a Dark Portal in front of Sato, Marcus swung his scythe with blistering speed directly towards the neck of his fellow transmigrator.
Utilizing his honed reflexes, Sato barely managed to bend his body back and duck out of the way of Marcus' strike.
He then leapt backwards to create some distance but did not get far. The Tendrils of Shadows that he had cut down early had reformed and several of them wrapped around him while he was in the middle of jumping away.

Sato flicked his wrist and used the special ability of his Murasume to slice through the tendrils and free himself. Nevertheless, the single instant that he was caught in their coil had been enough to drain him of around three percent of his stamina, mana, and life force. If he let them get a hold of him even just around dozen more times, he would be brought to exhaustion.
'Umbral Fissure.'
Casting a tier seven darkness magic spell, Marcus slammed his foot into the ground. A web of cracks formed out from where his stomp had impacted and rushed towards Sato.
The initial attack from the magic failed to hit its target, but Marcus never expected Sato to be easily caught. The large ruptures in the earth were only the prelude to the true power of this spell.
Only a second later did amorphous creatures wreathed in darkness beginning to pull themselves out of the fissure that could easily have passed for an opening into some sort of hellish dimension.
Upon escaping the fissure, the umbral beings turned towards the nearest being and mindlessly barreled towards it.
In order to escape, Sato shot towards the sky. He had found no success trying to escape the area on the ground and the dangers were only increasing.
Of course, Marcus was not going to allow him to leave so easily. He had anticipated that his adversary would attempt to flee into the air and already prepared countermeasures. Even if he did not already know it, Sato was already trapped within Marcus' world.
