Chapter 472: Chapter 472: The Women Here Are All a Bit Abnormal

Standing under the tree, ready to look for an opportunity to climb it and attack, Phoenix and Lin Lan, upon hearing Luo Ziling’s shouts, were instantly dumbfounded.

Lin Lan felt embarrassed for Luo Ziling; she shouted angrily at him to come down and continue training.

But Luo Ziling refused to climb up, instead, he had climbed onto a rather thin branch and lay there, allowing his body to sway left and right with the movement of the branch.

“I won’t fight with you anymore, two women ganging up on one man, it’s shameless, I won’t fight with you,” Luo Ziling continued to play stubborn.

The combined attack power of Phoenix and Lin Lan was indeed stronger than that of Mountain Eagle and Falcon, Luo Ziling had realized this when the two women attacked together. Unwilling to strike the women harshly for fear of being injured by them, he could only retreat by climbing the tree.

“Luo Ziling, come down,” Lin Lan couldn’t believe how shameless Luo Ziling was, she really wanted to shoot him down.

“If I say I won’t come down, then I won’t. I need a rest,” Luo Ziling, looking down from his high position at the two women, crossed his legs with a smug face and swayed comfortably with the motion of the branch, “Sitting here, I can see the scenery around, feel the cool breeze, it’s so comfortable, just right for a break. You’re tired too, that kick just now must have hurt Phoenix a lot, let’s rest before we continue!”

“Come down quickly,” said Lin Lan, even more incensed by Luo Ziling’s frivolous behavior, she drew her gun and pointed it at Luo Ziling: “If you don’t come down, I’ll shoot!”

“I said I won’t come down and I mean it,” Luo Ziling ignored Lin Lan’s threat, “A real man keeps his word.”

With a “bang,” Lin Lan really did shoot.

A “crack” sounded as the branch Luo Ziling was sitting on was hit by Lin Lan, immediately splitting and no longer able to support Luo Ziling’s 158 pounds.

Hearing the gunshot, Luo Ziling was already terrified, and realizing the branch was broken and his body was falling, he was scared half to death.

However, his reaction was swift, he immediately grabbed a sturdy branch, continuing to hang on the tree, then cursed furiously: “Crazy woman, actually daring to shoot, what if you had missed, I would’ve been dead! To think I even treated you to dumplings and wontons this morning, and you shoot at me, that’s too much. I won’t ever treat you again!”

Luo Ziling actually brought up the breakfast they had together that morning in front of Phoenix, making Lin Lan even more furiously embarrassed, she pulled the trigger again with another shot. Lin Lan’s marksmanship was indeed good, the branch that Luo Ziling was holding was shot off by her, and it broke while he was swinging.

Luo Ziling’s body lost its balance and fell again, but he reacted quickly, immediately grabbing another branch and keeping his body stable.

He didn’t dawdle in the tree any longer; instead, he flipped down from the tree and charged angrily at Lin Lan, yelling, “What’s wrong with you? Think you’re a sharpshooter?”

Lin Lan put her gun back into the holster, looking unfriendly at Luo Ziling without saying a word.

“Alright,” Phoenix stepped forward, pulling the sulking Lin Lan aside and instructing her to watch from the sidelines: “You stand over there and watch.”

Then she turned to Luo Ziling and said, “Let’s continue. I hope you use your full strength to fight me, to see how many minutes I can last, to see how much I’ve improved.”

This time, she didn’t rush to attack, but took a step back, ready to let Luo Ziling attack first.

Luo Ziling, already angry on the inside, no longer held back and immediately kicked out at Phoenix.

An air-cleaving spinning kick with great force, Phoenix didn’t dare to block it directly and dodged, but while evading, she was already preparing to counterattack.

But Luo Ziling didn’t give her the chance, spinning rapidly like a top, kick after kick, leaving no time for Phoenix to react.

Phoenix couldn’t risk taking the blow head-on and could only repeatedly dodge by quickly moving to the side. However, in the midst of her evasion, Luo Ziling suddenly changed his tactic; as his body spun, he leaped into the air and delivered a diagonal chop kick toward Phoenix.

Phoenix hadn’t anticipated that Luo Ziling could launch himself into the air while spinning so rapidly and was forced to continue dodging with a side roll, narrowly escaping Luo’s ferocious kick.

Her reaction was swift, although scrambling awkwardly as she dodged. She quickly sprang up and continued to evade, preparing to counterattack by using the trees for cover.

But unexpectedly, Luo Ziling stopped his actions and sat down on a rock again.

“I’m done fighting; I’m exhausted. All the food I just ate has been burned off.”

Hearing Luo Ziling say this, Phoenix was once again stunned, and so was Lin Lan, who had been watching the spectacle with keen interest.

“Alright then, that’s enough training for today,” said Phoenix, glancing at Lin Lan, who was standing off to the side, then instructing, “You go wait in the parking lot first. I have a few words to say to Luo Ziling.”

Lin Lan agreed and immediately turned to leave.

Watching Lin Lan’s tall figure disappear from view, Luo Ziling then turned to Phoenix, “What do you need to talk about with me alone?”

“In the coming days, you won’t be seeing Kong Que.”

“Why?” Luo Ziling asked, taken aback by what Phoenix said.

“For her own good,” Phoenix sighed softly.

“What do you mean?” Luo Ziling was confused, “Is it bad for her to see me?”

This felt somewhat like an affront, as if he was being treated like a villain. Luo Ziling was a little annoyed.

“She thinks so herself and has therefore decided to spend some time at another sub-base. Don’t ask too much; I can’t say more,” Phoenix said, her eyes seemingly hinting at laughter, “Unless you’re playing dumb, you should be able to figure out something.”

With that, she didn’t wait for Luo Ziling to respond and strode away.

Luo Ziling thought about it for a long while but couldn’t figure out what she meant, shaking his head and lamenting, “The women here are all a bit abnormal.”

Of course, Phoenix was an abnormal woman—possessing a pretty face, yet afraid of letting anyone see her true appearance.

Although Luo Ziling understood that Phoenix covered her face all the time for her reasons, he couldn’t help but think that living life behind a mask every day would surely feel terrible.

And yet, this woman appeared to relish it, never revealing her true face even within her own base—truly strange.

Lin Lan was certainly not normal either. Her behavior recently had felt odd to him—as if something was off, with actions he couldn’t comprehend.

He began to miss Shanque, that chatty little soldier, wondering why he hadn’t seen her in so long and if her acne had cleared up. Besides, he still wanted to learn more makeup techniques from her; he found that skill quite useful.

After lingering for a few seconds, Luo Ziling didn’t stay any longer and strode toward the parking area.
