Chapter 14 - Walking Danger

"It is nice to meet you. Can you please take me there, at the peak of that mountain?" Jennifer politely asked but a shrill voice was heard from behind her.

"No, you can't go there with him." Jennifer turned her face to look at his smiling, yet dangerous smirked face. "Any reasons?"

"I will show you that place some other time. We have to stay here for a long period. If you see everything just in one day, what will you do other times?"

His words were quite correct and understandable. Yet, her heart was getting more curious to know the reason. It was crystal clear that he had something to hide behind his explanation.

"Is there anything serious? Any precaution to be taken off?" one of her curiosity came on the tip of her lips when she asked him.

Though Jennifer really regretted her words it won't hurt him to tell her the truth, right? She only imagined.

He just shook his head and kept quiet, without uttering anything about this further. Instead, he turned to Ellen. "Take her through the trail.. and.. you know better about who she is."

"Yes sir." Ellen bowed in front of Javier but Jennifer looked quite stunned. No one will bow to another person until they were more like a servant

Moreover, what did he mean by, 'whom she is?' His wordings enraged Jennifer but this time, she let her anger die down in her heart.

It wasn't the right time to raise her voice against something. Letting things run smoothly and getting to know more about this land was her topmost priority.

Ellen signaled Jennifer to start walking. She took a last glance at his face when he stepped closer to her.

His closeness was sending her heart a ranging and continuous alarm to step back from him. Yet her mind didn't work according to her wishes and she stood still at her spot, letting Javier come near her frozen body, which was in total shock.

He moved his face down, near her ears where his hot breeze touched her bare skin. "Remember that you can't run away. If you cooperate, I will cooperate."

Jennifer immediately lifted her eyes to meet him when she saw the danger signs he was sending in her direction. His words weren't a simple warning but to remind her of her situation.

"Y..Y.." her words weren't even completed when he continued, "Do not try to create danger for me otherwise, I'm a walking danger in your life." His warm whisper in her ear sent chills down her spine.

All she did was nod her head in agreement like an obedient child without making her teacher angry.

Jennifer walked past him along with Ellen, when the two of them started walking together and Javier looked at her back from behind.

He knew his words did make her crawl in fear yet it was necessary. If her behavior was something he has studied and observed for so long, he knew very well that she would try something outrageous.

'Much better if you just accept the situation, Jennifer… My aim isn't to hurt you but I hope you will understand that.' With this, his phone rang and he went inside to pick the call.

Meanwhile, Jennifer started her track in the dense forest.

It was unbelievable to know that a trail can be made in such a deep and dense forest, especially when this island is so isolated that all you can see is water beyond it.

"Be careful Ms. Jennifer! It rained a few days back so.. it might be muddy at some places." Ellen said and Jennifer just nodded her head.

She was ready to try her luck to ask him what she was eagerly waiting for. Guess, it was already the time. "You must be working for Javier for a long period, right?"

"Since he took the command in his hand and built his own trusted people group." Ellen gave her a short and crisp response. "It must be challenging. I mean, as he is also a Johnson so there are risks associated."

As they kept on walking, Jennifer tried to keep the conversation alive. From the man's demeanor, she could review that Ellen isn't someone who will try to talk much. He keeps things to himself and this was the most difficult part.

You can't make an introvert spill the beans so easily. 'Now I know why Javier sent someone like him. He will keep an eye over me and won't reveal much.' She understood Javier's move in this chess game as well.

"Sir is one of the heirs so he is used to those types of situations. It wasn't new for him as he had seen them from his childhood." Much expected because Javier is already a Johnson.

"But.. your guy's lives will also be in high danger. It isn't easy to be with someone whom you never know will die and attack.." Jennifer can't even imagine what the lives of these people might be.

Ellen didn't have any facial expressions. His straight face wasn't giving her much hint still, she tried her best.

Ellen was omitting so cold vibes, which was making her feel low as well. But somehow she managed to stay positive and keep a happy and generous smile over her face.

Jennifer waited for Ellen to speak but he didn't utter anything until they walked for more than two minutes.

But suddenly, he opened his mouth to reply to her."Sir has saved my life from being ruined. If not because of him, then I wouldn't have been here and guiding you on this trail, Ms. Jennifer."
