Chapter 1340 Is The Prince Nervous?
Chapter 1340 Is The Prince Nervous?
Evelyn is the Empress and is left in charge of handling the city matters.
She knew that the heart of the people took her side but it was clear that in a confrontational situation, the people were still doubtful of her competence. She couldn't exude the same air, as the Emperor that could calm their nerves.
It was clearly seen from the faces of the city guards around.
Considering the Angel's threat, this should be nothing for the grand scale of Dargena City.
So seeing them scared and nervous was a sign of her incompetence in this area.
Due to that, she needs to be strong and composed in this situation.
"... you will not see the next minute"
Upon hearing the threat that came out of Evelyn's lips, the possessed Giana tilted her head, checking to see if Evelyn was making a bluff or not. But from a swift inspection alone, it was clear that she was bluffing.
Or at least, the Angel believed that she was bluffing.
'I know everything about her and her city while she doesn't know much about me...'
Making a firm nod, the Angel retorted, "I've come for my people only, don't make it difficult"
Evelyn clenched her jaw, she was frustrated by this Angel.
'I gave him a good proposition, asking only for information and I'll release both Catherine, and Radiel. Rex wouldn't mind that—but he still kept insisting on a one-sided deal,' She pondered, her patience was really being tested here. 'Just what could the rebellion forces' purpose be— for it to be this secretive?"
Having no other choice, Evelyn firmed her decision.
If words couldn't make the Angel understand his position then she would be using force.
Donning a cold expression, Evelyn raised her hand and flicked her fingers.
Upon the echoing sound of her flick, Dindora and Linthia suddenly disappeared into thin air.
Both of them were devoured by a bronze energy that climbed from the ground.
Seeing this, the possessed Giana's eyes turned to look at their spots with an evident frown.
Meanwhile, in a secluded cave near the other side of the Humming Damned Forest.
A figure was meditating inside, it was the Angel, he was gazing ahead absent-mindedly—but had his focus returned in the next second. Before he could move from his spot, two figures—emerged from the ground.
Dindora and Linthia appeared beside the Angel and pointed their weapons at the Angel.
Even though the Angel was outside of Dargena City's territory, he was still spotted.
"Move a muscle and your head will roll"
"It's over, do you think you could bully us with your hypnosis?"
Raising both of his hands, the Angel chuckled as this was completely out of his expectations.
He already kept his distance—and even went a mile to cover his traces inside this cave—but for some reason—the Empress and her city were able to locate him instantly. So fast that he has no time to react.
"Fascinating. It's the work of cursed energy, isn't it?" He commented.
Upon hearing this, Dindora pushed the tip of her sword to the Angel's neck warningly.
"Go and talk with the Empress," She said commandingly.
Returning back to the main entrance of the city, the possessed Giana lifted her gaze up.
Compared to before, there was a sign of surrender in her eyes.
"Are you ready to accept my proposal or will you die for your cause?" Evelyn asked.
It wasn't a coincidence, that Rex, built Dargena City around this cursed forest, it was also an additional layer of protection. On top of that, now that the Forest Overseer was assigned—it became even more effective.
Locating the Angel was possible due to the meticulous wickedness of cursed energy.
Entering Dargena City's territory is quite easy.
Leaving it is harder and hiding in it or nearby is even harder.
A lot of formations and defensive mechanisms covered their territory, that's why.
"You underestimated us too much," Evelyn continued—squinting her eyes and sneering. "We might be young in your view, thousands of years younger, but that doesn't mean we're weak or pushovers. I'll ask you one more time. Do you accept my proposition?"
"You got me. I'll accept your proposition now" the Angel replied, yielding the moment.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn turned around gracefully.
"Bring him to the castle," She said as she returned back to the castle with swift haste.
Later that night, the Scarlet Banes Kingdom's territory.
Rex had been discussing the current progression of Prince Alaric's plan to sway the Werewolf Kingdom to his side until night. He learned that Princess Selene, who Prince Alaric pleaded to be spared became the leader of the opposition.
She still couldn't accept a false Werewolf, basically a Werewolf and Man hybrid.
A lot of the Werewolves shared her vision and rallied with her.
But Prince Alaric told him that it was not a lost cause, the people could still be swayed.
From Prince Alaric's point-of-view, with the death of Prince Leif the royals were only left with even number two, and that's why the kingdom was undecided. In order to fix that, Rex would either gain the approval of Sven or find and pull the Ice and Snow Princess to his side.
Out of the two options, the latter is way easier than the first in Prince Alaric's opinion.
Gaining the approval of Sven is basically impossible without a fight.
Since he was the bastard son of the Origin, he is extremely powerful.
Legends said that he too had defeated an avatar of a Lunirich God, making his strength to be around the same realm, as Rex. Naturally, Rex was quite surprised by this, he thought he was the first Werewolf to touch the realm of Godhood other than the Origin.
But it seemed that was not the case.
Not to mention, Sven couldn't be reasoned with, he only responded in a primal way.
He was more of a beast than a Werewolf, communicating only through fights—or growls.
On the other hand, the Ice and Snow Princess could be reasoned with.
Rex also found the second option was easier as he already did a deal with the Ice and Snow during the battle with the Fifthborn so there was more inclination in the princess—to accept him than Sven would.
Similarly, the Alpha Primes also agreed with Prince Alaric.
Having to be beaten fairly would work a lot better on Werewolves than using force.
Since the Werewolves have an innate ability to grow stronger as their rage builds, provoking them is usually a reckless move—unless the intent is to kill them for good. Sharing the same bloodline, Rex knows this well.
Like he did with all his opponents, he would break them to the point of no return or kill them.
If there's even a shred of will for revenge left, it would create future problems.
As much as Rex wanted for this to go smoothly—he couldn't expect much as he was not only hoping to take control of a kingdom. Unlike the low, or mid-rank Supernatural race, this is the kingdom of a high-rank Supernatural with a rich history of victories and triumphs.
Pride of their own kingdom is one of the inhibiting factors for them to fall to other's rule.
So because of that, he didn't press Prince Alaric and the Alpha Primes.
He would accept—they were at least still confident that the kingdom could still be converted.
Other than that, Rex still demands from them some forces to help his territory.
Knowing that the mutated animals—even up to the stronger ones like Order Beasts were not causing too much ruckus for the Werewolves, Rex asked them to spare numbers. Shockingly—the Alpha Primes gladly took on that role.
All three of them, their direct packs, and the other packs below them would help.
Rex was pleased that one of his objectives of coming here was achieved.
Now is the time for the most important objective, the 'convincing himself' objective.
Glancing to the Alpha Primes—Rex smiled inwardly,
'Seems like Prince Alaric, brought them here to convince them of me, and I sold them. All three of them are at the peak of the ninth rank realm, with their powers, taking down Shadow should be possible without me'
Since the sudden quest prohibits him from directly participating, this would do.
"Are you going to stay the night here, Your Highness?"
"If so, you should stay in Movak's territory. It's the safest from unwanted eyes"
Rex nodded and turned his gaze elsewhere.
"I could but first, I need to do something, you can accompany me if you want" He replied.
Upon hearing this, Prince Alaric and the Alpha Primes raised an eyebrow.
All of them expected Rex to come here to talk about this only, but there's more.
Just then, all four of them sensed someone approaching and were instantly alerted.
In a union, all of them snapped their necks over their shoulders to look to their behind.
But Rex raised his hand, signaling that it was nothing to worry about.
A silhouette then appeared, approaching slowly and eventually revealing herself.
"Vivian, have you found her?" Rex asked.
None of them recognized the name but it seemed she was a part of Rex's forces.
Vivian went to her knee and nodded, "Yes, Your Majesty. I found her, I can take you there"
"Good, take me there," Rex said as he went over to follow Vivian.
Even though Prince Alaric, and the Alpha Primes were confused—they decided to come with Rex as they were invited. More importantly, they could keep the place secure so that no one realized that the Royal Black Prince was here.
A couple of hours passed.
Prince Alaric looked around and found that they were on the very outskirts.
Enjoy exclusive adventures from empire
In fact, this place was a neutral ground that wasn't under the jurisdiction of any Alpha Prime, a completely free space. Prince Alaric—and the Alpha Primes were confused, as to what Rex were doing by coming here.
But nevertheless, they quietly followed while still commanding their forces on the sides.
'His Highness is weirdly silent across the way,' Prince Alaric thought.
Something felt off and when he turned to the Alpha Primes, it seemed they too felt it.
Yet none of them speak up, the air felt somewhat tense so they didn't dare say anything.
Soon, Vivian came to a stop finally.
"She's there, Your Majesty, right in that cave" Vivian said.
Upon hearing this, Rex's heart began to race rapidly, "S- Still with the same pack?"
"Yes, still the same. Nothing changed other than her location"
"Exactly as the last time I saw her?"
"As you described, yes, exactly"
Prince Alaric and the Alpha Primes were surprised to see Rex stutter for the first time.
Not to mention, the air around him that was overbearing changed.
It was almost as if the Werewolf he was about to meet was able to strip him from his guard, with nothing but her presence. Upon closer inspection—they could hear the loud heartbeat coming from Rex, as well as that his shoulders slightly rounded forward, slouching.
'His posture and his scent... don't tell me, is the prince nervous?' Prince Alaric pondered.
Seeing how Rex didn't break even in the face of the Lunirich Gods, this was shocking.
He thought that nothing in this world could break the Royal Black Prince's spirit.
But the truth showed him otherwise, there was someone who could.
For the first time throughout the entire day, Rex didn't seem indomitable.
A very stark change that made all of them naturally nervous.
Realizing that Rex was nervous to meet this person, they too became nervous.
Looking directly at the cave in the distance, Rex regulate his breaths—his heart was racing too fast inside of him, as his nervousness spiked. It has been quite a long time since he felt something like this before.
Calm down... Why am I feeling like this?
I'm only going to meet her and told her that I... What am I supposed to say to her?
Rex gulped harshly, his mind was in a mess, so much that he couldn't even think straight.
Just then, however, his breath was caught in his throat.
He saw a figure walked out of the cave with a basket in hand, humming sweetly and happily.
At that moment, Rex's heart skipped a beat and a name escaped his lips.
"Agatha..."
