Chapter 541 - Must Be Kept A Secret
"Did they touch you?" Mr. Suarez asked as he glared at the bodyguards who seemed surprised by the accusation.
The servants were shocked as well. They felt that Alix was being unreasonable by accusing the innocent bodyguards of what they didn't do.
Feng Alix glanced at the bodyguards that were staring at her and said, "Of course they did. Their hands touched my skin."
Alix was putting on a crop top, so a small area of her stomach could be seen. When she had tried to walk through the hallway and the bodyguards blocked her off, the skin on her stomach area had touched their hands.
Logically, the bodyguards didn't touch her, she was the one that tried to push their hands away, and her stomach ended up being grazed by their hands.
Mr. Suarez sent the bodyguards to go out and receive their punishments before turning to glance at Alix who was still grabbing his arm.
"Next time, don't disobey my orders. If I tell anyone not to come close, then you need to obey it."
Alix was surprised that he was reprimanding her right after sending the servants. She let go of his arm and asked with a hurt expression on her face, "Are you scolding me right now? I was worried about you being hungry and thirsty over the long conversation you were having with your lawyer, so I asked the servants to make you something so I can send them to you but you are here scolding me."
The young lawyer by the side glanced at Feng Alix and looked away. He even scoffed silently.
"I have told you not to worry about me that I am fine!" Mr. Suarez said in an annoyed tone. Alix's love and care were beginning to piss him off. He didn't want her looking after him like he was a child but he doesn't seem to get her.
Feng Alix was surprised that her old husband was actually angry at her because of the affection she was showing to him. "So I did bad by caring for you? There is no problem, I won't care about you again. Nobody in this house cares about you more than I do but it looks like my effort is not much appreciated."
After saying that, Alix asked the servants to clean up the messed-up place and take the snacks, tea and wine back to the kitchen before walking away with tears in her eyes.
When she left, Mr. Suarez glanced towards the direction she walked away to and sighed. He was now beginning to feel bad for treating her that way.
He was old and it's true that nobody in his family cares for him the way Alix does. Whether her affections were fake or real, at least she was putting on a lot of effort, unlike his family that didn't care.
They had a lot of servants to look after him anyway.
"Do you think I was too harsh on her?" Mr. Suarez asked his lawyer who didn't seem to express any other emotion other than being displeased by Alix's play.
"You were not too harsh on her, it's good for her to learn the rules and follow them." His lawyer said.
After Mr. Suarez and his lawyer went back to the small sitting room, the servants cleared up the place, and now, nobody was left guarding the hallway, so Alix came back sneakily.
She took off her slippers and carried them in her hand while tiptoeing to the door of the small sitting room, Mr. Suarez was having a discussion with his lawyer.
Seeing that her coast was clear, Alix placed her ear on the door to listen to their conversation. She did that in time to hear the lawyer's voice.
"What about Ms. Alix, you're not leaving any shares for her?"
'They are already talking about the company shares?' Alix thought with surprise. This part was very important to hear. With the way the lawyer asked that question, she didn't want to speculate that something was wrong, but her heartbeats were already accelerating speedily.
Mr. Suarez was quiet for a while before replying. "No, I will not give any shares to her."
Feng Alix was so shocked by the information she just heard. She couldn't believe that her old husband didn't want to give her any of his company shares. She was shocked and she felt a pain in her chest. She was heartbroken and anger filled her heart.
Mr. Suarez thought for a while before adding, "If I give her some of the company shares, there will be a big fight in the family. They might kill her off. Already, I promised my children not to give any company shares to any other woman I will marry and that's the only way the wedding was allowed to go through. If I go back on my words, I can't imagine the fight that will break out."
"Don't you feel that Ms. Alix would be angry and heartbroken to learn about your decision, after all, she is your wife?" The lawyer asked.
"And that is the reason this meeting must be kept a secret. I don't want her to feel bad. To compensate her, I will give her $10,000,000 and a small villa in the countryside. With my connection, she can have a job anywhere she wants but she can't work in my company." Mr. Suarez said with a bitter gaze.
He has thought things through. Alix can't get any of his company shares, and she can't work in any of his companies because of his family. He didn't want her to be a target by his angry family when he does since they hated her, so he had to make the best plans possible for everyone but Alix who heard everything didn't seem to appreciate his concerns.
Not only that, Alix was not going to live in the big family villas with the rest of the family after her husband's death. She was going to move out after his burial to the small villa he would put in her name.
As she listened further, she learned that she will not be allowed to sell that villa even if she doesn't want to live there.
