Chapter 162 - Another Way To Check If She Was Telling The Truth
On their way back to the Fu House, Jia Li noticed that Fu Meixu was annoyed, and she couldn't help asking...
"Meixu, do you dislike that celebrity that much?"
Fu Meixu glanced over and replied without hiding her inner thoughts.
"Her name is Zhi Ruo, and she is signed to the same agency as me. When I was just a model, I admired her because she was an A-list celebrity, and I wanted to be like her. She insulted me one time when I tried to approach her, and I swore that I was going to catch up to her and overtake her."
As Jia Li listened, she finally understood the reason they both disliked each other.
Fu Meixu didn't end there but went ahead to advise Jia Li.
"Jia Li, this industry is for the smart and strong people. If you are not careful, you will only swallow insults and be stepped on without receiving any help. To be in my industry, you must be ready to fight and snatch things from people. When you get to the top, only then can you relax. And I'm sure the fashion industry is like that as well. Be ready to fight."
Jia Li listened and understood her point because Fu Hua has given her a similar pointer before. She must be ready to face anything and overcome once she starts walking because the fashion industry was also a bloodbath just like the entertainment industry. If you don't fight, you will remain hidden.
When they got to the house, it was almost time for dinner, so they went to their various bedrooms to wash up and come down for dinner.
When Jia Li walked into the bedroom, she saw Fu Hua sitting on the desk with transparent framed glasses.
This was the first time she was seeing him on another type of glasses apart from sunshades. He looked very serious in those glasses.
When Jia Li walked into the room, Fu Hua asked as he raised his head to give her a good glance. "You're back?"
"Yes." Jia Li replied.
"How was it? Did anyone bully you?" Fu Hua inquired.
'Why would he think anyone would bully me?' Jia Li thought.
"No one bullied me. I didn't take any alcohol, I didn't exchange my contact with anyone, and I was careful." Jia Li said in one go.
"I don't trust that you didn't take any alcohol, come, let me check." Fu Hua said to her as he stood up and gestured for her to come to his side.
Jia Li was not surprised he doubted her. She has no idea how he would check her out, but she went to his side before she could think things through.
As she was not close enough, Fu Hua frowned and pulled her closer. "I'm not going to eat you, why are you standing so far away, or are you guilty of something?"
Jia Li was about to protest when he pulled her very close to him, but when she heard the last part of his words, she respected herself and stood at a place without moving.
Fu Hua was happy with her obedience and lowered his head to sniff her neck. Jia Li was tickled by the hot breath she felt on her neck and wanted to move away, but he stopped her with a command.
"Don't move." Fu Hua said to her.
As Fu Hua had other plans, he was annoyed when he took of Jia Li's jacket and saw the turtle neck she was putting on.
He couldn't believe that kind of clothes would ruin his plans. He used his fingers to drag the collar of the dress, but he wasn't able to see Jia Li's cleavage.
He looked very annoyed, and as Jia Li tried to drag her clothing away from his grasp, she met the annoyed look on Fu Hua's face and thought he was annoyed with her, and instinctively left her clothing.
Fu Hua let go of the collar of her dress and said to her, "There is another way to check if you're telling the truth."
Jia Li locked eyes with him, and as she was waiting for him to explain the other way, his lips covered hers as his hands went to her back to steady her.
Jia Li was taken aback but didn't try to break away from him, because before she could finish thinking about it, Fu Hua already let her go.
Nodding his head, Fu Hua said to her, "You were really obedient."
Jia Li met his gaze and immediately left his side for the inner room as she muttered under her breath, "Shameless."
Luckily, Fu Hua didn't hear her. He was still happy with the fact that he could tease his innocent wife.
After washing up, Jia Li left with Fu Hua to the dining room for dinner.
During dinner, Fu Hee glanced at Jia Li, and then at Fu Hua before saying to Fu Hua, "Hua, I want Jia Li to follow me somewhere tomorrow."
All eyes fell on Fu Hee because of her request. Everyone knew she didn't like Jia Li, so what was the reason she wanted Jia Li to follow her out. Who knew what her true intentions were.
Grandfather Fu didn't say a word, as he was waiting to see how Fu Hua would reply. And truly, Fu Hua didn't disappoint him, even though he didn't like the exact way he put his words.
"No, you can't. Jia Li is not allowed to attend any function with any member of the family, apart from grandfather. I wouldn't want my wife to be a topic for the media to discuss on." Fu Hua replied.
His response didn't dwell with Fu Hee, who protested immediately.
"How could you reject me just like that? If I'm not allowed to go out with your Jia Li, why would you allow her to go out with Meixu if you don't want people to know who your wife is?"
"It's not your decision to make, on who I allow my wife to go out with." Fu Hua said to her without mincing words.
Fu Hee felt angered and humiliated that she wanted to lash out at him, but Grandfather Fu's voice, caused her to contain her anger, as she nearly forgot he was still sitting in the dining.
"What else do you want to say?" Grandfather asked.
Fu Hee became silent and went back to eating, and so as everyone.
Jia Li was relieved as she didn't have to go out with her mother-in-law.
