Chapter 267
Chapter 267
After Shen Yin returned home, Xu Xiuhe had not yet arrived. As soon as the little one got home, he went to the shoe closet to get slippers for Shen Yin, then entered the living room to serve her tea.
"Mommy, the teacher said you work very hard, so we should be extra nice to you," said Xu Yunzheng as he approached Shen Yin and began massaging her legs.
"Mom, are you tired? Dad says pregnancy is exhausting. Let me rub your legs and shoulders," the little one said, climbing onto the sofa to knead Shen Yin's shoulders.
When Xu Xiuhe came home and saw this scene, he was a bit puzzled. Wasn't massaging legs and shoulders supposed to be his job? How had it become Yunzheng's task now?
"Dad, praise me!"
"Yunzheng, you're amazing!"
Father and son exchanged their lines.
"Was work busy today?" Shen Yin asked.
"Were you tired today?" Xu Xiuhe inquired.
They each asked about the other, but neither received an answer.
Late that night, Ge Xinxin snuck into Xu Zhengyang's room. He wasn't back yet, but she knew he had a safe that likely contained important clues.
The safe had a combination lock. Ge Xinxin tried many combinations – Xu Zhengyang's birthday, her own birthday – but nothing worked. Finally, she had to give up.
However, Ge Xinxin now knew for certain that the safe held crucial information. Otherwise, it wouldn't be so difficult to crack.
Since brute force didn't work, she'd have to use her wits. Ge Xinxin bought a type of drug online that would lower people's guard when consumed.
The next evening, knowing Xu Zhengyang would return, Ge Xinxin slipped into his room while the old witch wasn't paying attention.
When Xu Zhengyang came back, he found Ge Xinxin lying in his room, gazing at him seductively. He had already had a few drinks.
Ge Xinxin had also lit some incense in the room.
"Darling, have some water. You must be feeling unwell after drinking. Some water will make you feel better."
After drinking it, Xu Zhengyang felt unusually excited. Ge Xinxin's ploy had worked.
In the depths of night, after a passionate encounter, Ge Xinxin finally managed to extract information from Xu Zhengyang.
"What's the password?" she asked.
"What password?"
"The one for your safe."
"Why are you asking so many questions?" Xu Zhengyang mumbled groggily.
"I'm just curious. I'm the mother of your child. Can't I ask?"
Xu Zhengyang seemed to soften.
"You're still keeping secrets from me? I'm your lover, the one who will be by your side for life. We'll grow old together," Ge Xinxin said with a smile.
To Xu Zhengyang, Ge Xinxin's smile appeared to be that of a content, happy woman.
If only Ge Xinxin knew what kind of smile it really was. Men might make empty promises and use honeyed words, but she could play that game too. Anyone could say nice things.
"You're right, you're my lifelong companion. I love you so much, of course I won't keep secrets from you. The password is 0712."
"Why 0712?"
Xu Zhengyang didn't answer this question. Why 0712? Perhaps it was the birthday of the woman by his side at that time.
Xu Zhengyang fell asleep.
To be safe, Ge Xinxin didn't immediately open the safe.
Instead, she crept back to her own room in the dead of night, massaging her sore waist. She had really put her all into tonight's performance, but it had paid off with this vital information.
The next day, after Xu Zhengyang left for work and with few people in the Xu Family home, Yang Cui went out shopping. Ge Xinxin tiptoed into Xu Zhengyang's bedroom.
0712.
The safe opened.
Inside were several pieces of fine jewelry and some documents.
There were insurance bills, transfer records to a woman named Zhou Man, and personal information about Wang Zhihao.
She wasn't sure if Xu Zhengyang would remember what she had done last night. She also didn't know which of these documents would serve as evidence.
To be thorough, she photographed all the documents in the safe and sent them to Shen Yin.
After receiving the files, Shen Yin looked them over briefly before forwarding them to Xu Xiuhe.
[Where did these come from?] Xu Xiuhe replied. He had recently hired a private investigator, but those findings were superficial and not substantial evidence.
However, what Shen Yin sent him perfectly matched what he had been looking for initially. This information would be devastating to Xu Zhengyang if revealed.
[Do you believe in luck?] Shen Yin texted.
[I do.]
Xu Xiuhe had always believed in luck. If losing his mother, being unloved by his father, and being sabotaged by his stepmother in the first half of his life was bad luck, then meeting Shen Yin later was incredibly good luck. One could even say he had used up all his luck from his first 25 years just to meet her.
[You're not going to tell me that you got lucky and someone just handed you this evidence, are you?]
[What if I did? Would you believe me?]
Xu Xiuhe was momentarily speechless. Could anyone really be that lucky?
He sent a shocked emoji in response.
[Remember that pregnant woman we saw with Xu Zhengyang at the hospital last time?]
Xu Xiuhe thought for a moment.
[Vaguely.]
[The child she's carrying isn't Xu Zhengyang's. Shu Yi and I went out and happened to see her with her ex-boyfriend. We accidentally overheard this important conversation. You know me, I've never been a saint. When evidence falls into my lap, why not take it?]
[How are you so sure that woman would get this evidence?]
[You have to believe that Xu Zhengyang isn't very smart. He's actually quite a mama's boy. And you should also believe that a woman's pillow talk can be very effective.]
[My wife is formidable.]
[The rest is up to you now. From what I saw, the kidnapping case from before is very likely related to him. But I don't understand what that insurance policy means.]
[I know what it means. It's related to my previous car accident.]
Xu Xiuhe instructed Liu Bo to compile all the evidence, organizing each charge meticulously.
Finally, on a day in late September, a group of police officers stormed into the Xu Group building. In front of everyone, they put handcuffs on Xu Zhengyang.
"Why are you arresting me?" he demanded.
"Take him away," an officer ordered.
"What's going on?"
Xu Guimin, alarmed by the commotion, came down from upstairs to inquire.
"Xu Zhengyang is suspected of involvement in multiple criminal cases. He needs to be detained now."
"Dad, save me!"
Xu Zhengyang called out repeatedly as two officers escorted him away.
Xu Guimin had no idea what was happening. When Ge Xinxin received the news, she immediately packed her bags. Pulling her suitcase, she headed for the door of the Xu Family home.
"Ge Xinxin, what are you doing? Where are you going with that suitcase?" Yang Cui asked, still watching TV.
Without looking back, Ge Xinxin tossed out a reply: "Check the trending topics."
Yang Cui picked up her phone from nearby and opened it. The top Weibo headline read: "Xu Family Crown Prince Xu Zhengyang Arrested."
