Tale of a Hedonistic wizard

Chapter 373 A flame?

Chapter 373 A flame?

At the same time, they were more concerned about what she said about prophecy. While it was uncertain to know about one's future, it wasn't uncommon. But the prophecies were different; they connected the fate of one's individual.

The council exchanged uneasy glances, unsure of how to respond to such a bold statement. The prophecy had been debated for centuries but never had it seemed more real than at this moment.

Jaegar, the boy who had entered the labyrinth and lived to tell the tale, was now the centre of their attention.

One of the council members stepped forward, her voice cautious but firm. "If Jaegar is truly destined for the heavens, then we need to know what he found inside the labyrinth. It is not enough to say that he survived—we need to understand what he encountered."

Another witch added, her voice edged with suspicion, "We need to be sure that this outcome doesn't come to bite us in the future."

All eyes turned to Angelina, who remained calm but resolute. "Jaegar must tell us what he found," she agreed. "The labyrinth holds many secrets, but it is not for me to reveal what he experienced. Only he can share the truth."

She believed that Labyrinth wasn't holding something far more significant. And, she felt that they owed it to these women.

Oceana nodded in agreement, her skepticism momentarily replaced by curiosity. "Then let the boy speak," she said. "Let him tell us what happened inside the labyrinth, and perhaps we will finally know if this prophecy—man-made or fate-driven—holds any truth."

The council murmured in agreement, their attention now fully focused on Jaegar, who stood quietly in the corner, observing the discussion. He had been listening intently, aware that his words would carry great weight.

Jaegar, holding his hand to the left side of his abdomen, stood up. The pain was bearable as he managed to walk forward. He looked at Oceana, staring at him with an indifferent gaze. Jaegar got to know the power of someone far beyond his level and if they wanted to crush him from inside, as he was now feeling the pain for just a minute of pressure from them.

"First of all, I am truly sorry for the disturbances caused by me. It wasn't my intention to do so. I have great respect for the women of Spire and very much know about the struggles you have faced. I sincerely hope that you continue to prosper and work for the welfare of the women and witch community." Jaegar bowed, as he struggled a bit.

Angelina smiled, seeing his actions with a hint of pride in her eyes.

Yasmine chuckled softly, Standing beside Angelina, she whispered, "At least he got manners."

Jaegar then continued, looking at Oceana, "And about the labyrinth, I don't know about the prophecies, but I can tell you that the labyrinth wasn't created for what you think it is."

He sighed, adding, "It was there to guard anyone from entering it inside, even us humans too."

What he said made everyone frown and confused.

Jaegar said, "I can assure you, it won't do any harm to you or the spire."

Oceana asked, "What did you find inside then?"

Jaegar couldn't really lie to them after Angelina asked him to tell them the truth, and he felt no harm in revealing his flame, and he only intended to reveal the earth's flame as they didn't know about the black flames. Even he could tell about the unfamiliarity and bizarre experience he had with the black flames. He was sure it wasn't something that everyone would see once in a while.

He didn't need to lie to them, but he could bend the truth to his will. Well, he was telling them the truth about finding a flame inside but wasn't telling them which type it was.

Jaegar raised his hand, stretching his palm, and suddenly an orange and bright, crisp flame ignited in his hand.

It just looked like an ordinary flame, but if observed closely, you could tell that it was burning with more radiance than the normal radiance, and they all could feel the heat emitted from the small flame.

They had seen summon the flames without chanting, and that surprised them even more. Very few could do so.

"This is what I have found at the centre of the labyrinth," Jaegar said, showing the flame that was burning intensely in his hand. A levitating sphere of flames is right at the centre of his palm.

"A flame?" The women present in the hall were all powerful witches, and they could tell that it wasn't just an ordinary flame.

The room was bathed in the soft glow of the orange radiance of the flame as the tension between the council members escalated. The flame flickered like a living thing, casting long shadows across the stone walls of the hall; its ethereal light was both mesmerizing and fearsome.

Yasmine stood closest to it, her eyes wide with awe as she muttered under her breath, "A divine flame?"

Angelina, her face stern but composed, nodded slowly, her gaze fixed on the flame in Jaegar's hand. "Indeed," she said. "The flames of divinity... once only spoken of in the legends of the gods. Flames that mortals were never meant to touch."

The legends told that the divine flames were bound for gods, their power far beyond the reach of ordinary witches, let alone men. Yet Jaegar, standing there with an unreadable expression, seemed to wield it as if it were merely an extension of himself.

Yasmine, still in shock, whispered, "Your grandson is indeed favoured by the heavens." Her words though whispered, carried the weight of prophecy, and the murmurs that followed spread quickly among the other witches present.

Even Oceana couldn't mask her disbelief. She leaned forward, her voice steady but uncertain. "Is it really the divine flame?" she asked, though the answer was clear to her already.

The other witches in the room—Griselda, Serah, Matilda, and Marian—exchanged nervous glances.
