“Let’s rest for ten minutes and…” Luke said but then stopped when he heard a weird sound in the distance.
The group reunited in front of the house again since they also began to hear that sound. After a while, they noticed that it was coming from a chopper, and it was approaching in the distance. When they looked toward the west, they saw the light emitted by the vehicle, not to mention, the chopper also had a floodlight attack on it. Luke didn’t like that… a single helicopter crossing the city and coming from that direction. It definitely came from outside the city…
Luke wondered if there was a way to get that chopper without damaging anything or hurting anyone, and while he was thinking about that, the floodlight of the chopper passed in the area and then stopped when it illuminated the whole street, showing numerous corpses of zombies and monsters…
“I don’t like this…” When she noticed that the chopper belonged to the army and was pointing the floodlight toward them, Amanda said.
Amanda thought of asking for help, but something inside her prevented her from doing so. As for Luke, he began to walk away from his house and left the others behind. He also made sure to grab some of his knives… he recalled Billy’s words at noon, so he couldn’t help but raise his guard. However, after a while, nothing happened.
“Are they communicating with their commanders?” Luke thought.
A few seconds after, Luke thought that a Gatling gun appeared below the chopper and then was pointed toward him. Without wasting time, Luke used Weapon Augmentation and made three knives hit the glass in front of the pilot. The attack didn’t destroy it, but at least it cracked the glass a little bit. Before Luke had the chance to attack again, the pilot used the Gatling gun.
“What… Why are they trying to kill a human?” Rina asked while she was trying hard not to fall from Luke’s shoulders.
“It is obvious they fear him due to his level,” Shalia said.
While those two were calmly talking, Luke was sweating bullets while he ran with all his might. The chopper was chasing him, and the sound of the bullets destroying the ground only made him eager to run.
“This guy better kill me. Otherwise, I will put that Gatling gun up their ass,” Luke muttered.
Luke didn’t test his running speed, but it seemed that he could run over forty meters per second. That was quite something considering that he lived a sedentary life before… Still, it wasn’t time to celebrate since the Bullets were quickly approaching him. In the end, Luke decided to enter a park that had some trees and hide there before he prepared another attack. Still, then he found several zombies there, and some were even the special ones.
Luke ignored them and hid in the trees, but he quickly gave up on that when he saw the zombies getting destroyed by the Gatling gun. The trees wouldn’t protect him… in the end, Luke turned to his left side and ran to escape the rain of bullets. Luke thought that suddenly changing direction would give him a few seconds, but the chopper quickly stopped and then fixed its Aim toward him.
Luke clicked his tongue in annoyance, and for the first time in several hours, he couldn’t bring himself to enjoy the situation. Fighting monsters and zombies was one thing. Fighting humans was completely different.
“Use your damn bullets to kill the monsters… asshole,” Luke said while he was following the path back to his home since it would be too dangerous to run around without knowing what lies ahead.
In the end, Luke gave up on that as well since he didn’t want to destroy his home. Before he could reach that block again, Luke grabbed his mana potions and then put all of them in his mouth. At the same time, he used Weapon Augmentation and fired several knives at the glass in front of the pilot again. The cracks increased, but it didn’t break the glass, much less damage the pilot. Luke still had some mana, but at that rate, nothing would change.
It seemed that Luke’s only option was to use his rapier alongside Weapon Augmentation. Still, he didn’t know what the skill could do with that weapon is not a single level. In the end, that was too risky… Luke found another option, though… Hit the base of the helix of that chopper.
“If you give me your current mana, I might be able to destroy that thing protecting that human,” Shalia said.
“So you can use my mana…” Luke frowned. “Still, I have a better idea, or maybe not.”
In the end, killing the pilot was the only way out of that situation, and hope that the vehicle would endure the fall was unlikely. Luke will have to wait for a while longer to get his hands on a chopper. Focus in power wouldn’t help Luke, so he grabbed as many knives as he could and used Weapon Augmentation level one, and fired eight of them toward the helix. In the end, he finally ran out of the knives he found at his home, but he could the neighbors’ houses.
The bullets almost reached Luke, but the pilot lost the vehicle’s balance when several knives damaged the helix of the vehicle. It didn’t take long for the chopper to begin to spin in the air and then lose altitude…
