Chapter 655: Chapter 649: Awesome

It’s like being on Earth, in modern Flame Nation, bearing the last name of Li, and claiming your ancestors were Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty. You attempt to show a heap of genealogy records, family emblems, and other documents to validate your claim. But does it make any difference? None whatsoever in my Roberts Kingdom.

Even if you were descendants of the emperor, it’s impossible for you to be given an emperor’s throne in modern times. Hence, it might seem impressive to say, but it serves no real purpose; this is likely the case with the Nine-Star royal family. Finn Lewis was mistaken thinking there’d be some pleasant surprise.

Currently, aside from obtaining the Solar System, there’s not much you can gain. And in truth, obtaining the Solar System doesn’t provide much advantage as it’s just an ordinary planetary system. It’s not because Finn Lewis feels indifferent to such acquisition.

But, to these people of the Galactic Federation, here’s a planetary system for you. You can inherit it, but what’s the use? If you lack the strength to develop the planetary system or mine its resources, what good will it do?

It’s entirely like a scenario in the dynasties of Flame Nation, such as the East Dynasty, where an emperor tells his minister that there’s a continent overseas inhabited solely by natives, a place known as Proudshire, and grants it to him.

Is the bestowed gift huge? Absolutely! It’s an entire continent! But would it be of any use to you? No! You won’t have any influence on anything that happens on that land unless you have abundant financial and human resources to develop it. Otherwise, it’d be exactly as spoken, and serve no real purpose.

For the humans on Earth in the Solar System, the people of the Galactic Federation see them just as how the people of the East Dynasty perceive the natives of Proudshire. Even if Finn Lewis assumes heritage of the Solar System with the help of Dunn Monty, what good would be telling me this?

He wouldn’t be able to mobilize the forces of the Oversight Bureau, and others wouldn’t pay attention to him. If he were to go to Earth and proclaim to its countries that he owns the Solar System and they should listen to him…chances are he would be institutionalized.

So, how Finn Lewis feels right now is like vanity before inheritance. After genuinely inheriting, he finds that it’s completely useless besides acquiring a new tattoo. Oh, there’s another thing; others might address him as ‘Your Highness’ upon seeing him.

In this document, Finn Lewis saw map symbols of other families. After opening it, the dazzling map coming out isn’t of a particular planetary system, instead, it’s a map of the Galactic Federation. On this galactic map, nine significant territories are explicitly demarcated in the core part, accounting for over seventy percent of the entire galaxy. Of course, their actual control might not reach that far, but at least they might cover more than sixty percent.

Remaining territories, besides the ones not under Galactic Federation, were all carved up. Seeing the territories occupied by other families and then looking at his, not just comparing with the nine surnames of the royal family, even ordinary aristocrats have broader territories than Finn Lewis.

On this map, the territory of Finn Lewis is almost like a trivial dot, too minuscule. Damn, Finn Lewis couldn’t help but feel teeth-grating irritation, turned it off, and started examining his privileges. After looking at his rights, Finn Lewis’ face brightened a bit.

Luckily, there are plenty of rights granted to a royal family. For example, when their territory is intruded illegitimately, they can directly call for the Oversight Bureau’s battleship, avail of slots in the best schools in Capital Star District, suggest modifications to federal laws and official actions. In summary, they have countless rights and privileges.

Finn Lewis was attracted by many rights listed, but to put it plainly, these only come into effect if you reside in the Federation. The rights serve little purpose if you live on personal territory. Moreover, where there are rights, there are obligations. Finn Lewis saw several obligations that concerned him.

One of them is restrictions on private territories. If you did something wrong or violated some Federation rules, other families have the right to attack your family territory. And these regulations are countless. Finn Lewis glanced through them, and arguably there are tens of thousands at least.

What really irked Finn Lewis was a requirement. Finn Lewis must finish his studies at Royal Political Academy in the Federation Star District to be granted all rights. Otherwise, it would be an incomplete inheritance, which leads to numerous troubles in the future. The silver lining is that Finn Lewis can arrange the time of enrolment. He can enroll or graduate anytime as long as he passes the graduation test.

Finn Lewis definitely wouldn’t have time to study here in the short term. Having skimmed through it once, anyway, it is undoubtedly good news for now. At least Finn Lewis doesn’t need to worry about someone scheming against him. Now, Finn Lewis has inherited his family position, meaning he’s a legitimate member of the royal family. No matter the number of people in the family, he’s a royal.

Hence, if someone attempts to assassinate Finn Lewis now, it’s equivalent to assassinating a royal member. The Oversight Bureau would directly intervene in the investigation. Therefore, those who once plotted against him definitely wouldn’t dare to touch Finn Lewis lightly. Regardless of the family they pledge their allegiance to, it’s the same principle for the royal family’s nine surnames.

This rule is mutually maintained by everyone. If it’s broken once on a person, chances are you might suffer the same one day in the future. Once this rule is violated, everyone would end up in trouble.

“Let’s head out now.” After flipping through the stuff in his hand, Finn Lewis said, shaking his head.

Dunn Monty nodded, agreed, and followed Finn Lewis. When they ascended from the basement via the lift, Finn Lewis was stunned. As soon he walked out of the lift, he saw a familiar face, or rather, someone who he had met, the man who once attempted to assassinate him. The man who, once on the outskirts of Celeston City, came to meet Finn Lewis from a spaceship.

He’s obviously waiting for Finn Lewis at the moment. Observing his entourage, he has at least a dozen people with him. On each of them, Finn Lewis recognized a distinct symbol, a Pegasus with wings.

This should be the emblem of a family among the nine surnames of the royal family, just like the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon emblem on the back of Finn Lewis’ hand.
