Chapter 549: Chapter 543: Arrogant
At least now, Finn Lewis can walk around the streets with his head held high, with hardly anyone recognizing him. Even though, after his genetic transformation and adjustments, he is considered handsome, the changes in his facial features weren’t extreme; they were just more harmonious now making him look naturally good-looking.
While he may be handsome, no one recognizes him. After all, Finn’s fame was based on his name, not his face; he wasn’t a celebrity living on his looks. So, he merrily roamed around the infamous Well King area in the capital. Honestly though, even though it was just the third day of the new year, it was hard to feel any festive spirit in the city anymore.
Perhaps, to experience that traditional New Year atmosphere, one had to be in the countryside where it lingered until mid-January, even past the second day of February in some remote places. However, in this cosmopolitan city, even on the first day of the month, the New Year vibes were hardly palpable.
In truth, Finn didn’t have much to do. He had done all the New Year greetings, and those unwanted calls had been redirected by Olivia Thatcher to Fishy Wells. In a nutshell, finding Finn was no easy task.
Finn himself was sitting in a coffee shop near Well King, sipping coffee and listening to the diverse comments around him. He wondered if the recent events had had such a significant impact. In this middle-class coffee shop, he heard quite a few discussions about the sea incident.
“I tell you, even if we’re in Flame Nation, I’ll do what I want. Isn’t it just Finn Lewis? If he shows up in front of me, I swear I’ll wipe him out!” A sudden voice floated into Finn’s ears.
Truth be told, the speaker’s voice wasn’t loud. But who could compete with Finn’s now superior hearing? Not to mention, the speaker mentioned Finn’s name, even more interestingly, the speaker was speaking in Belmarean. Frankly, Finn hadn’t had much interaction with Belmareans at his current location.
Deep down, Finn held no affection for folks from Belmare Country, not even an iota. Regardless of how many people had been to Belmare and praised the people for their friendliness, sophistication, and how different they were from Flame Nation citizens, Finn was unshaken in his indifference.
If he disliked them, he simply did so, no reason required. He didn’t care how good they might be, he simply didn’t like them. Therefore, Finn had rarely had interactions with Belmare businesses. Of course, strictly speaking, not having any interactions would be an impossibility, but generally, such business was usually left to his subsidiaries, not requiring the intervention of individuals like Jay Sommer or Fishy Wells.
However, Finn was genuinely taken aback. Why would this person with a grudge against him pop out of nowhere, even when Finn had had no involvement with Belmare businesses, nor had he upset anyone from Belmare Country?
“Olivia,” Finn called in a low voice. Finn was no fool, it was better to play safe, especially here in the capital. Low-profile was the way to go, even though he wasn’t afraid of trouble. He also believed that secret agents were watching him to protect him and to prevent anyone from messing with him.
“He’s not deliberately near, sir. There are no communication devices on him, there aren’t any unusual personnel within miles around him either. When sir went shopping, I’ve analyzed all the movements of the crowd around us and haven’t observed anything unusual. Do you want me to investigate this individual’s identity? It would just take a few seconds,” Olivia understood Finn’s unspoken words and quickly asked.
“Forget it, keep some suspense. It’s been a while since anyone sought trouble. I didn’t expect it to be someone from Belmare. I am indeed quite interested in Belmareans.” Finn spoke, squinting his eyes.
“As you wish, sir,” Olivia responded bluntly.
“Adjust my appearance a bit, don’t make it too easy for them to recognize.” Finn whispered his instruction to Olivia to use the reflective light from his protective suit to make subtle changes to his appearance, making it difficult for people to recognize him easily.
Finn rose from his seat and walked towards the source of the noise. After he bypassed a few decorative pieces, he saw the speaker, a youth who looked twenty-five or twenty-six years old. Around him sat a few youngsters who appeared to be his cohorts, and this speaker seemed to be the leader of the group.
They were all sitting around a table, a cup of coffee placed in front of each. Around them, there were another seven or eight burly men inconspicuously sitting at several coffee tables. These appeared to be the youth’s bodyguards. Finn was curious. He had rarely seen Belmareans behaving with such high-profile arrogance in his country.
Finn squinted then turned back to his table to pick up his coffee. He changed his course and headed back towards the other table. As he approached their table, he noticed a few quick reflexive glances fall on him. Even though the glances were fleeting, his heightened senses picked them up instantly.
“Hehe, if I get that chance, I wouldn’t mind playing around with his girlfriend. I like her,” another youth spoke, his lewd suggestion laced with a provocative laugh.
On hearing that comment, Finn’s expression morphed into a cold, ominous stare. If they wanted to mess with him, he was up for the challenge, but to badmouth Kay Lee behind his back? That, he wouldn’t tolerate. Without a second thought, holding his coffee cup, Finn walked towards their table. As he reached it, he staged a clumsy stumble, causing his coffee to be spilt all over their table.
The piping hot coffee spilled right on the face of the bragging youth, “My eyes, my face! You swine!” He cried out in pain, abruptly jumping up and screaming.
“Sorry,” Finn cast him a nonchalant look before muttering his indifferent apology.
The Belmareans immediately surrounded Finn. But he was quicker, stepping back neatly, just as they started to close in on him, and effectively extracting himself from their circle.
“Oops, I accidentally spilled my coffee on your face. Are you okay?” Finn asked, displaying concern he clearly wasn’t feeling, considering he still didn’t know the youth’s name or why this guy was trying to pick a fight with him.
“Grab him!” The youth that had been swearing at Finn bellowed.
