Chapter 543: Chapter 537: Have No Choice but to Admit it
However, Hanson Lee could hardly believe it. He had just drank three bottles of this medicinal concoction, and he was already feeling better. Not only could he stand up, he actually felt healthier than before he fell ill! It’d been ages since he last felt this surge of vitality coursing through him.
This was seriously miraculous. He knew his body well, but he allowed Graceful Lee, his son, to bring in their family doctor for a thorough medical check. Even the family doctor was shocked by the outcome. The doctor was well-informed about Hanson Lee’s medical condition. After all, they held most of Hanson Lee’s medical history. And although this was a family doctor, the clinic was as fully equipped as a small hospital.
The clinic was nearly packed with hospital-grade lifesaving equipment and medication. The doctors were rich in professional experience. Hence, when they saw Hanson Lee marching around, they were almost petrified. How could this even be possible?! Was he having a deathbed rally? But as the doctors proceeded to examine Mr. Lee, they were left dumbstruck by the results of each medical test.
How could it be possible?! They were almost open-mouthed in shock! Hanson Lee’s recovery from such a critical condition was already a miracle in itself! Nonetheless, his mental clarity and sound physical health were more than surprisingly good – they were outstanding! They had seen the extent of muscular and nerve damage in Lee’s lower body. The possibility of a full recovery was highly improbable, and the potential for worsening with time. Yet, how could he have returned to normalcy just like that!
The most intriguing question was, how did he achieve this? That too in such a short span of time? The doctors had only done a routine check-up on him just this morning, his body wasn’t in its current state back then. But Hanson Lee wouldn’t answer their questions no matter how much they probed. He simply asked them to check his physical data. All the doctors in the room knew what Hanson Lee represented in the Southland Country. If Hanson Lee refused to talk, they wouldn’t dare to force him. They had no option but to proceed with Hanson Lee’s check-up.
Approximately an hour later, most of the results had come in. Looking at the data in their hands, the doctors almost couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Hanson Lee’s physical condition was astoundingly healthy and vibrant. It felt almost impossible, and they didn’t know what had happened to Hanson Lee.
“Tell me,” said Hanson Lee, gesturing with his hand from his seat on the sofa.
“Yes, Chairman Lee. As per our records, your health condition looks remarkably good, especially the condition of your lower body. Your nerves and muscles seem to be in remarkable health and your cells have regained their vitality. According to your current health data, you are almost as fit as middle-aged men in their forties and fifties,” Said a doctor, providing Hanson Lee with a rough summary of the medical data. Hanson Lee couldn’t contain his joy upon hearing the doctor’s confirmation, even though he was already mentally prepared for the results.
This took Graceful Lee and the family doctor by surprise. Ordinarily, Hanson Lee was stoic, rarely showing his emotions in quite this way. Perhaps it was only natural. After all, anyone who had miraculously recovered from what was supposed to be a lifetime of paralysis would likely be over the moon.
“Are there any side effects? Any anomalies?” Graceful Lee hastily asked, stepping forward.
The doctor pondered for a moment, then replied in earnest. “So far, there doesn’t seem to be any issue. However, we’d like to run a few diagnostic tests that require lab work. We hope Chairman Lee will proceed to the hospital for these tests, or at least let us collect some tissue samples to take back to the hospital for further examination.” The Star Group had its own established hospital; these doctors were affiliated with the hospital, so the issue of finding a hospital wasn’t a concern.
“Let’s do it that way then. Make the necessary arrangements. However, make sure this matter is kept strictly confidential. Not a word about it should leak out. You all know well what the consequences of a leak would be, and I don’t want to repeat myself,” Hanson Lee said, his face darkening.
“Yes, sir!” The doctors trembled slightly at his words. In the Southland Country, Hanson Lee was nearly the equivalent of the local emperor.
After instructing the doctors, Hanson Lee also made it clear to all the servants present that this matter was to be kept strictly confidential. Everyone knew about Hanson Lee’s power in Southland Country; no commoner would think to defy him. Do not be fooled – even though the Southland Country seemed more liberal than the Northern Country, no one would dare to seek justice in case of manslaughter committed by someone like Hanson Lee, who evoked fear in everyone.
After taking everything into consideration, Hanson decided to not call Finn Lewis. The reason was straightforward. If Finn sent someone to deliver the medicine, that meant Finn had already conveyed the necessary messages to him. Nothing needed to be done to show gratitude. Everything else would follow in three days. Hanson Lee was not clued-in to what might happen within these three days or what Finn intended to do. But one thing he knew for sure – whatever was supposed to happen would surely take place within the next three days.
In the meantime, Finn Lewis, on his return to the hotel, had the t1000 remove all surveillance devices from his room without a moment’s hesitation. That included numerous covert bugs placed in every corner. He left not even a single device behind.
Despite Finn’s lack of interest in making a big deal out of this, his actions would surely attract attention, and he had no intention of keeping things a secret anyway. Upon receiving the news near midnight, Hanson Lee’s face immediately darkened in displeasure. The intelligence he received hadn’t come from an external source but from insiders in the Special Service Office working for the Lee Family. This was immediately an indicator of who was behind this turn of events. After much consideration, Hanson Lee scoffed, saying, “Leave this matter be. Tell everyone to act like it never happened.”
