Chapter 97 - A Horrible Dream
"So cold…" Kana's eyes opened to find herself in the last place she ever wanted to be again. "What how!? Noo… Was that all a dream?" Kana looked around to see the snow-covered alley around her. Her whole body was covered in fresh snow. She wrapped her arms around her as she tried to get up. But the striking pain in her leg caused her to cry out.
Tears welled up in her eyes when she realized she was in the same spot she had thought she had died in. She looked, trying to find the people she cared about the most. "Ceilie… Handsome husband… Lysairth…"
Kana fell back to the ground in despair. She couldn't believe everything that had just happened was a dream. She never wanted to come back to this world; she wished to stay in the world where everyone who was kind to her lived. This world was full of hateful humans who did not care for others. "Why was it all a dream? Why couldn't it be real!?"
More tears flowed and rolled down Kana's cheeks. They fell from her face to the ground melting the snow on contact before freezing. Kana wondered if she needed to die in order to go back to that wonderful world. As she was pondering this, footsteps could be heard coming from behind her.
"Boss look at this girl? If we clean her up, she might be worth a pretty penny."
"Grab her. And check if she is a virgin. We can make that our selling point. If not, just toss her to the boys and charge the normal price per round."
"Right away, boss." A slender man who resembled a q-tip walked up with a sinister grin on his face.
"Little girl, we will make sure you are warm and fed every day, so why don't you come with us. You only need to do a bit of work every night."
Kana's crying stopped when she heard the man behind her. Her eyes suddenly turned cold. She shifted her hand in the snow and found something solid to grab on to. Without a care for the pain in her leg, she suddenly shot up and swung the item in her hand, which turned out to be a broken pole with a sharp pointy edge, right at the q-tip man's head.
The q-tip man was not expecting the seemingly harmless girl to attack so viciously and was unprepared when the sharp edge of the pole sliced through his face. "Ahhh!"
Kana did not even give the q-tip man a chance to do anything as she lunged up, stabbing the sharp pole into the q-tip man's chest. The boss looked at Kana in surprise, even forgetting to react for a few seconds before finally snapping out of his daze. "You little bitch! Fine, I will teach you what little bitches are used for!"
He didn't care about his underling dying. He only cared about the fact that someone dared to go against him. He walked over and kicked Kana, who fell back onto the ground, and pinned her against the snow while undoing his pants. Kana was kicking, scratching, and biting with everything she had, causing the boss to get mad. He raised his fist and went to smash it down. Kana could see he was using all his strength. Kana couldn't help but scream out in fright: "Noo!"
Kana's whole body was covered in sweat. Her eyes shot wide open. She found herself in someone's embrace. But the scent of the person was familiar, which calmed her down. She lifted her eyes and looked at the handsome face who was looking back at her with worry written all over it.
Seeing this man caused Kana's eyes to tear up as she reached up and hugged the man by this neck, burying her face into his chest, crying. To the side, a young woman could be seen letting out a sigh of relief. "It seems she had a bad dream."
"Mmm… But, I also think it was more than just a dream." The man spoke as he rubbed Kana's back. Through his new connection with Kana, he could feel her emotions much more than before. Whatever she was going through in her dream was real to her, this much he knew. The two people in the room were Ceilie and Creige. They had both been watching over her since she had returned home.
Ceilie looked at Creige and Kana smiled. "Looks like she fell back asleep."
Kana had indeed fallen back asleep. Her eyes were closed as she rested her head on Creige's chest. Her little hands gripping his shirt. She looked at peace with how calm her breathing was. "Kana seems to trust you a lot."
Ceilie said as she sat next to Creige and petted Kana's head as she said teasingly: "Like this, you two look like father and daughter instead of husband and wife.
Creige frowned. Although he knew this was true, he still did not like hearing it. Normally he would hit anyone who said such a thing, but since it was Ceilie, someone who was like Kana's sister, he could only grit his teeth and ignore her. Seeing Creige's disturbed face, Ceilie chuckled before saying: "I am just kidding. To be honest, you are perfect for her, and her next evolution should allow her to grow to a more adult-like size allowing her to mature more. That is if dragons have the same kind of evolution traits as other beastkin."
"It doesn't matter if she is young or old. I will wait for her to grow up. All I care about is if she is enjoying her life. Her happiness is all that matters." Creige replied. His voice was low but carried a warmth to it.
"Mmm! I was right. You are perfect for her. So I wish to ask you a favor." Ceilie stood up and bowed her head. "Please watch over Kana. I will be leaving after I have healed to train. As her elder sister, I can not stay as I am. If I wish to protect those close to me. I must go on a journey to train. So please take care of her while I am gone. She will soon be entering the academy and learning new things. I was going to do the same but as I am now I can no longer stay by her side. I will only be a burden to her on her path."
Creige stared at Ceilie for a while before nodding his head. "I give you my word. I will be closing my shop in Stone Hammer for the time being. I will only return when Kana joins the academy. Just make sure you explain everything to Kana before leaving. Do not disappear on her. Her heart can't take such a thing."
"I will. I would never leave without saying anything first."
