Chapter 155
Chapter 155
Perhaps some connections are truly destined to happen suddenly.
That little potted plant, though only cared for a few days, had inexplicably found its way into Nan Yan's heart. Their fated encounter began on a gloomy, rainy day. But this connection was too fleeting; he hadn't even had the chance to properly care for it...
Nan Yan covered his eyes, overwhelmed with grief. He pulled out a wooden stick from the ice cream wrapper he had just finished and stuck it into the flowerpot, serving as a makeshift tombstone for the little plant.
Feeling emotional, Nan Yan stared at the bare popsicle stick. Unable to resist, he took out his phone to snap a picture and posted it on Weibo with the caption: "Poor little plant, rest in peace. I swear I'll avenge you!"
The Miraculous Light Boy Group hadn't debuted for long, but the company had already released plenty of promotional material before their official launch. As a result, Nan Yan had already gained quite a few dedicated fans.
No sooner had the Weibo post been published than his most devoted followers left numerous comments. Since they had just debuted and the competition wasn't too fierce yet, there wasn't much comment moderation, and the responses were mostly normal.
[Nan Yan, baby, I'm here~(????)? Let big sis see what gorgeous selfie you've posted... Don't make me laugh to death.]
[On the matter of my idol turning out to be a comedian.]
[Did Yan-babe accidentally kill the plant?]
[Was it scratched by a cat? Or uprooted by a mouse?]
[Another episode of 'I'm less important than a plant'.]
...
Heartbroken, Nan Yan opened his computer, intending to check the security footage to see what had actually happened.
Suddenly, he received a phone call from his sleazy middle-aged manager, who immediately launched into a tirade: "Nan Yan! What are you doing?! Look at that Weibo post you made. Mind your image, your image! You're supposed to be a cold, aloof young master..."
Nan Yan clicked his tongue in annoyance, pushing the phone to the edge of the desk. He waited for his manager to finish ranting before picking it up again, halfheartedly apologizing.
The manager, sensing that he hadn't talked back this time and his attitude seemed somewhat acceptable, gave him countless reminders to delete the Weibo post before hanging up.
Nan Yan obediently deleted the previous post, then reposted with a caption that was noble, cold, and concise, perfectly embodying his young master persona: "Those who harm my plant shall die."
Clearly, this chuunibyou-esque post was even less in line with his manager's requirements.
In less than a minute, his phone started vibrating again. It was probably his manager, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, only to check Weibo and be infuriated once more by Nan Yan's actions.
Nan Yan coldly set his phone to silent mode, then played some melancholic music as he opened his computer to see which wild cat had killed his little plant.
In the bedroom on the other side of the wall, Jiang Yan was struggling to climb up the bedsheet, as difficult as rock climbing! As she climbed, she cursed the broken system. It had promised to turn her into a human, but instead transformed her into a palm-sized little person, stark naked without even a stitch of clothing.
She had spent the entire afternoon making her way from the balcony, opening the bedroom door, all just to find something to wear!
However, her human form was so tiny that even the corner of a pillowcase could wrap around her entirely. She had no choice but to set her sights on the tissue box by the bed, traversing mountains and valleys until she finally managed to clothe herself.
Just as she breathed a sigh of relief, a sudden sound of a chair scraping against the floor came from outside—it sounded somewhat panicked.
...
Nan Yan had already suspected that some small animal was behind the damage, and he was just checking the security footage to confirm his suspicions. He had been sitting with his long legs stretched out, staring at the screen until his eyes nearly went crossed, but there had been no movement.
Until two hours after he had left, the previously wilted plant suddenly sprang up, as if it had just woken from a nap.
It was happening again; his eyes were playing tricks on him. Nan Yan rubbed his eyes and leaned in closer to the monitor.
However, in the enlarged footage, the little plant was indeed moving.
In the security playback, the plant vigorously stretched its leaves, as if doing a morning stretch, then twisted itself into a spiral shape, slowly untwisted, and even bent forward and backward as if doing calisthenics... The range of motion was far beyond what any ordinary plant could achieve.
Nan Yan bit down hard on the side of his hand, eyes glued to the screen. He seriously wondered if a hacker had infiltrated his security system and was playing some animated clip for him.
However, what shocked him even more was yet to come.
After twisting about for a while, the little plant suddenly jumped out, uprooting itself completely. Then it shuffled its way under the chair.
Nan Yan glanced at the space under his chair, seeing nothing. But he still couldn't help lifting his feet, afraid that the magical little plant might suddenly appear.
He had just moved his gaze back to the screen, wanting to see when it had emerged, when he noticed a tiny person walk out from under the chair!
Nan Yan choked on his words, but his body reacted honestly, standing up abruptly and stumbling backward. The chair scraped against the floor with a harsh screech.
The noise was so loud that Nan Yan instinctively muttered an "Sorry" to the floor below.
He shifted his gaze back to the computer screen, saw the naked little person still moving about, then looked away in disbelief. He silently bit the side of his hand again and dragged the playback progress bar to the end.
He saw the little person struggle to enter his bedroom.
