Chapter 196 - Start Of The Spirit War
Chapter 196 - Start Of The Spirit War
Because of the darkening sky, people thought it was going to rain. Therefore, in the amusement park, people began to disperse, seeking shelter in hope of not catching the rain.
Under a parasol in front of a cafe, Seres was quiet.
Teren looked at the sky and whispered-
"This is not Nature's doing."
But it didn't seem like Seres heard him.
His eyes darted back to his little sister.
'Is this hers...?'
Teren thought.
"So it is true, you have become evil."
Seres whispered and with a cold glare, she looked at her brother.
"Do you understand the mechanics of your so-called farm?"
She asked but she already knows the answer so she continued.
"You're torturing souls... so what if they've sinned when they were still alive? So what if they're evil? Does anyone deserves to suffer for all eternity and become a fuel for you to indiscriminately use Spirits without limits?"
She gritted her teeth.
"Seres... are you really angry because of that?"
Teren asked. He felt that he should ask this question even though he doesn't understand it himself. But that question hits the bullseye.
Seres stayed silent for a while before coldly continuing as if she didn't hear Teren's question.
"So it is true... you should be eliminated."
Teren didn't have anything to say. He had expected this. Today was just a lie that he enjoyed. He knew that reality will eventually show itself.
"So you'll kill me?"
He asked.
"Tsk! Don't turn me into like you...!"
Seres sharply said as she stood up.
"No matter how deep you have fallen, I will not kill a family... no, you're no longer a family to me. Still, I won't kill but... I won't protect you. You're on the top list with a great bounty, Devil Himself."
Seres began talking as if her emotions were detached.
"The only reason why no one was coming out to kill you was because of fear that you may harm civilians. You're unlawful to the extreme, heartless, and purely evil. Just like what happened to the strongest Aberrant, you too will be captured."
Rain began to pour as Seres stepped out of the parasol, letting herself get wet. The only remaining people outside soon ran towards the nearest shelters.
"Not just that, but you're also a shield to the Aberrants. You're just being used to protect them from the ultimate Condign they have ever heard. They want to keep you alive and the SSDA is troubled with it. But once the Spirit War begins, There will be a temporary truce between the Five Houses and the SSDA. By then, they no longer need a shield."
What Seres saying is simple-
Teren will be killed once the Spirit War starts.
Seres turned around to see how would Teren react. As she expected, he have a worried expression. But he seemed to be unnerved than she thought.
"By then... what will happen to the ultimate Condign?"
"... what?"
Seres' eyes widened in shock. So that was the reason for his unnerved expression. It took her a while to process what she just realized before she exploded in anger.
"You're thinking about your own enemy!?"
"She's not my enemy, she's my girlfriend."
Teren said, actually going against his little sister.
"Huh...?" Seres was taken aback, "So you're aware?"
"Yes, that's why there's no need to wait for the Spirit War." Teren's eyes turned sharp, "I'll bring the war to them."
"You're not evil, no, you're mad..."
Seres held her head as she cannot comprehend Teren's words. She would've believed it more if he's pure evil but this is strange.
"Tsk!"
Seres clicked her tongue.
"You can talk big but the Spirit War will start now!"
She abruptly put up her hand and at that moment, a strong wind blew and the clouds above swirled. Each raindrop became heavier that people began to end the day early in fear of the abrupt storm.
"The Spirit War this time is all-out war! Why? Because of you! Becuase you're a menace to the city itself! Therefore, with my Great Spirit of Storm, the people will naturally evacuate and you alone will be locked inside!"
The wind became fiercer that it was approaching the level of a super typhoon!
The alarms in the park began to sound, shocking people.
"What's happening!?"
"I thought today will be sunny!? Why is there such a strong storm!?"
"We have to get to a hotel or something quick! It may flood soon!"
People began to panic and didn't care if they get wet. The workers guided them out and into buses for emergency purposes.
Under the center of the storm, Seres concentrated on increasing the cloud's volume.
The wind howled and the parasol was blown away. Even the chairs were being taken by the wind while the table dropped.
Teren suddenly stood up and ran towards one tree beside the road near them.
Seres looked at him as she concentrates, wondering where he is going. But when she saw a familiar girl behind the tree he was running at, her anger further rose.
"T-Teren!?"
Iesa was surprised to see Teren running towards her. He's aware of her presence there? For how long?
All these thoughts ran into her mind, leaving her dazed. The wind got stronger that she was pushed off balance.
"Ugh...!"
She should've hit the ground but as she opened her eyes, she saw Teren. It seemed that she got to her on time.
"Are you okay?"
Iesa nodded, not only bashfully but also, awkwardly. She held onto the strap of Teren's bag that she brought as she looked away. In the middle of a sibling drama, she appeared, making the little sister angrier. She regretted coming there.
After getting the answer, Teren propped her up but didn't let her go to protect her from the wind.
"Seres!"
Teren called out with a glare. This was the first time he looked at his little sister this way.
Seres looked away from this.
"Stop it or I'll have to take action."
"So you're going to kill me if I don't stop!? Even so, I will not stop!"
Seres replied with her head still turned away.
"No, of course not." Teren raised his hand, "As you know, I have plenty spares of Spirits as fuel. I just have to use Spirits against Spirits."
Just like how he dealt with Evil Spirits, Teren released some of his Great Spirits, sending them towards the eye of the storm.
'The exchange needed to accomplish this nullification is tremendous.'
Seres thought as she looked at Teren's Great Spirits soaring towards the dark sky - like faint flares against a great fire.
'Without the farm, this will greatly weaken the person who used this technique, even taking their lifeforce as an exchange.'
