Chapter 5543: Endure
Chapter 5543: Endure
The elder’s laugh was carefree, brimming with arrogance and disdain. He had no guard up against Long Chen, as if the latter wasn’t even worth his notice. But how could Long Chen let such an opportunity slip by?
The moment violet qi shimmered on his palm, a flash of starlight streaked through the air. Before anyone could track his movement, the elder’s head snapped sideways with a thunderous crack.
What followed was an explosive sound and the splatter of blood through the air. The elder’s jaw was shattered, and with a guttural scream, he was sent flying like a broken kite.
This slap was nothing like before. As all eyes were fixed on the elder, this time, everyone saw it happen.
When his jaw exploded, all of them shivered. Just how powerful did this slap have to be to cause such a thing?
Long Chen said, “Remember not to laugh so arrogantly in front of Boss Long San in the future, understood?”
After that, Long Chen simply clasped his hands behind his back. While he looked calm from the outside, he was shocked inside. After all, he couldn’t see through this elder’s cultivation base. The pressure he gave off exceeded all the other Divine Emperors Long Chen had encountered.
Long Chen hadn’t held back with this slap, hoping to end the elder outright. But the result fell short of his expectations. A strike meant for the elder’s temple had missed, landing instead on the jaw.
Even though the blow had obliterated the elder’s jaw, Long Chen felt a stinging pain in his palm. It was as if he had just slapped a steel anvil.
The sensation spread up his arm like countless needles piercing his flesh, forcing him to channel the power of the primal chaos space to suppress it.Long Chen now understood the elder’s terrifying strength. For a sword cultivator, whose physical body was typically a weak point, to endure such a strike was nothing short of extraordinary.
“How dare you?! Die!”
The Invisible Sword Sect’s disciples erupted in rage, and over ten of them charged at Long Chen with their swords drawn.
When Long Chen saw this, his lips curled into a faint smile, and Yue Zifeng’s hand instinctively moved to his sword.
“Die!”
However, before they could reach Long Chen, a furious roar shook the heavens. A streak of Sword Qi tore through the air, causing Long Chen’s soul to shudder. An oppressive aura of death engulfed him.
BOOM!
A delicate yet indomitable hand materialized, effortlessly crushing the Sword Qi in an instant.
As the Sword Qi dissipated, the heads of the charging disciples flew into the air. The scene was both bizarre and horrifying.
The Sword Qi had first cut their necks before it could even reach Long Chen and the others. Yet, the disciples remained unharmed until the Sword Qi was destroyed. Only then did their heads detach from their bodies, as if the death reaper’s sickle had belatedly completed its sweep.
After the Sword Qi was crushed, the Wind God Sea Pavilion’s experts relaxed, but the fear in their hearts didn’t fade for a long time. Fortunately, Feng Xinyue had interfered and stopped it for them.
They quickly realized that at the very front, Long Chen and Yue Zifeng stood completely composed. Neither of them had flinched, their expressions as calm as still water.
In stark contrast, everyone else was trembling, shaken by the sensation of narrowly escaping death. When they saw Long Chen and Yue Zifeng, they couldn’t help but feel ashamed of themselves.
Feng Xinyue stepped forward, her dress flowing like a cascading river in the wind. Her star-like eyes were locked onto the empty space ahead.
“For them to attack without my orders, they deserved their deaths,” said the elder, his spiritual voice sharp and cold, slicing through the air like a blade.
While sheathing his sword, he looked eerily calm despite his gruesome state. His jaw remained a shattered, bloody mess, so he could only transmit his words spiritually.
Long Chen sneered. “What an act. You were just testing the waters, seeing if anyone here could match you.”
After being slapped, the elder hadn’t held back with his attack. Even though he had to kill his disciples in the process, it was worth it because he could test Feng Xinyue.
Though Long Chen had a disdainful expression, he couldn’t help but raise his guard. A man who could restrain himself after being humiliated twice was definitely dangerous.
Blood dripped from the elder’s ruined jaw, but his glare resembled that of a caged beast—both furious and calculating.
Seeing the elder’s expression, Long Chen indifferently said, “If you have anything to say, spit it out. If not, scram.”
The elder coldly replied, “I’ll remember these two slaps. As expected of the one to kill the Silver Hair Void Crusher. I want to see if you can still be so arrogant once you get into the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm.”
With a curt wave of his hand, the elder signaled for his disciples to leave, and they departed in utter silence.
Once the Invisible Sword Sect was gone, Feng Xinyue and Long Chen spoke in unison.
“This person is a major character.”
Startled, Feng Xinyue glanced at Long Chen and broke into a smile. “A child shouldn’t talk like an old woman.”
Long Chen chuckled. “Senior, you’re like a young maiden in the springtime of youth. What’s wrong with saying the same thing as you?”
His words flowed with such smoothness that Feng Xinyue couldn’t help but laugh. Her laughter was as light as the wind but carried an edge of seriousness when it faded.
“This man knows how to endure. Even after being humiliated twice, he kept his composure. Next time, you must take his life. Otherwise, he’ll become a problem.”
Long Chen nodded. “He intentionally swaggered over just to provoke you and test out your power. After my first slap, he immediately sensed something was wrong and realized we were waiting for a good chance to slay him. That’s why he threw out the name of the High Heaven Sword God Sect, distracting us while calculating his next move.
“After my second slap, even in his enraged state, he managed to use his disciples as bait and test your strength. Then, when he saw he couldn’t win, he retreated without hesitation. He’s decisive and left himself just enough room to withdraw while keeping his dignity intact.”
Tang Wan-er, unable to hold back, interjected. “Master, if you could have beaten him, why not just wipe them out?”
Feng Xinyue and Long Chen smiled slightly, but none of them explained. Long Chen simply gave the order for them to continue moving.
