Chapter 1290  Peak Of Rank Three (Part 2)

Evan carefully listened to Anastasia as she explained the items that could increase his understanding of the conceptual energies of death, soul and life.

There weren't many—only six in total. Two were related to increasing the understanding of the conceptual energy of death, one was for the conceptual energy of the soul, and three were connected to the concept of life.

What shocked Evan even more was the disparity in their effectiveness. Unlike a low-level void crystal, which could increase his understanding of void energy by 1%, even the highest-grade items Anastasia mentioned could only increase his understanding by a mere 0.5%.

For instance, during his journey out of the Tomb of the Ancient, Evan had obtained several void crystals. Among them, a few were high-grade, capable of increasing his understanding by a full 5%.

However, the highest-grade soul jade—a crystal similar to a void crystal—could only enhance his understanding of soul energy by 0.5%.

To make matters worse, although void crystals were rare, they could still occasionally be found within the void space.

Soul jade, on the other hand, was even rarer. According to Anastasia, there might be no more than five people in the entire Utopia who possessed soul jade, and even they had likely acquired it by sheer accident.

What was even more alarming was the low success rate. Even if someone used soul jade to enhance their understanding of the conceptual energy of the soul, the chances of gaining insights were less than 1%.

Anastasia explained that concepts like soul and death were extraordinarily high-level, and not everyone could comprehend them.

Evan, however, wasn't particularly worried about failing to gain understanding, even with soul jade. Thanks to his Shadow Energy, he already possessed a high affinity with the concepts of soul, death, and life.

However, he now realized that obtaining these items might be far more challenging than he had initially thought.

"Do you have a way to acquire any of these things?" Evan asked Anastasia, his tone thoughtful.

"I will have that vampire slave(Leopold) keep an eye out for any items related to these energies for now," Anastasia replied after considering for a moment. "If he doesn't find anything, we will think of another solution."

Evan nodded at her suggestion and decided to put the matter aside for the time being.

He shifted his focus to the incomplete Rune of Absorption inscribed on his core. With a thought, he activated 1% of the Rune's power.

Immediately, the Rune of Absorption began to draw in the surrounding World Essence, madly promoting his core toward the peak of Rank Three.

What surprised Evan even more was that after strengthening his body, he discovered that both his body and core could handle an increased amount of World Essence drawn by the Rune.

Realizing this, he didn't hesitate to increase the Rune's power to 2%. Even at this level, he felt no strain. Encouraged, he continued increasing the Rune's power and only stopped when he reached 4.5%, at which point he finally began to feel some pressure.

The 4.5% power of the Rune was astonishing. It pulled in all the World Essence within a radius of nearly 300 meters, and the rank of his core rapidly approached the peak of Rank Three.

Previously, when using just 1% of the Rune's power, Evan had estimated it would take him three days to reach the peak of Rank Three. However, at 4.5%, it would now take less than two days.

Eager to reach the peak of Rank Three and break through to Rank Four, Evan decided to remain in the training room for the time being.

It wasn't that he couldn't increase his rank elsewhere; the Rune of Absorption was an automatic cultivation tool that would continue to enhance his rank even without his direct input.

The reason he chose to stay in the training room was to use the time to sort through his thoughts about the conceptual energy of life.

Having already made progress in understanding the conceptual energies of death and soul, life was the only remaining concept he needed to explore.

Once he comprehended a part of it, he would finally have a starting point for understanding the interplay of all three energies within his Shadow Energy.

Hearing his plans, Anastasia left the training room to find Leopold and instruct him to watch for any items that Evan might need.

After Anastasia left, Evan took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He began recalling the sensations he had experienced when using the Balance Weaver to revive Carla, as well as the conceptual energy of life that had been invoked to create her body and nourish her soul.

At the same time, he remembered the phantom of the Tree of Life he had seen on Earth and the overwhelming vitality it had radiated.

Time passed in the blink of an eye. More than thirty hours had gone by when Evan, who had been sitting with his eyes closed suddenly felt something stir.

His eyes snapped open, and for a brief moment, a golden light shimmered within his black irises before fading away.

Without paying attention to this phenomenon, Evan focused on his core. It had reached a critical point, continuing to devour the surrounding World Essence and spinning rapidly. Suddenly, the core stopped rotating and began pulsing like a beating heart.

Sensing the change, Evan immediately deactivated the Rune of Absorption, halting its intake of World Essence.

The next moment—

Bang!

A booming sound echoed from within his core as it released an immense surge of energy throughout his body. His already terrifying strength grew even greater, and his spiritual energy became more refined.

A powerful aura erupted from Evan's body, shaking the entire training room and causing cracks to form in the ground around him.

Fortunately, the formation inscribed in the training room activated, containing his aura and preventing any damage to the room.

The process lasted for about five minutes before his core stopped releasing energy and returned to its normal state.

Evan took a deep breath, opened his status window, and smiled.

"Finally, the peak of Rank Three," He muttered, his lips curling upward in satisfaction.
