Chapter 248 | 248 | The Battle for Servusarator: Minos Rebellion Part 4
Chapter 248 | 248 | The Battle for Servusarator: Minos Rebellion Part 4
The ground trembled as engines roared amidst the vast plains of the western region. The rebel armored battalion of the Minos Rebel Government were mostly mechanized with Minokins being transported through heavy trucks. Although these trucks come from the United World Government, they have been modified to be operated by the Minokins.
Even the armored vehicles such as the heavy tanks along with the light transport jeeps were modified under the preference of the Minos Government. Naturally, this was before their preposterous betrayal of the United World Government.
Within the central jeeps of the formation was the lieutenant colonel of the rebel armored battalion. He was the commanding officer of the reinforcements, which would assist the western cities in resisting the onslaught of the United Military.
Although merely deploying a lone rebelled armored battalion sounded foolish, they were but the vanguard of a larger force. Somewhere near the borders of the central and southern region, the gathering of the fourth division had already begun. There was no doubt about it, a counter-attack would soon befall the western region.
"The first city should be over a dozen of kilometers away. We must quickly positioned ourselves after reinforcing our allies. But..." The lieutenant colonel furrowed his eyebrows as he had noticed something peculiar. His men had long begun contacting their allies in the western cities, yet no response came.
The lieutenant colonel wasn't ignorant about the vast jamming capabilities of the United Military. They could cover an entire region with radio darkness. It practically made their radio communications useless. But the static echoing out of their radios remained a dreadful sound in his heart.
"No matter what... We must keep moving forward and take back the western region." The Minokin clenched his fist, understanding that fighting against the United Military was a foolish endeavor. They stood no chance, yet they needed to move forward.
The Minos Military had sworn loyalty to the government. Once the State of Minos seceded from the United World Government, it was them that needed to fight for their independence. If it wasn't for the traitorous civilians who had resisted the liberation of the nation, things would have fare better for them.
"Damnit!" The lieutenant colonel cursed since if the civilians had been on their side. The United World Government wouldn't be able to do anything as they simply couldn't force the civilians back to the country. However, with the resistance of the population, it was natural for the UWG to act.
The reasons of their operation practically resided in the fact that they had condemned the Minos Rebel Government for seceding and declaration their independence without the votes of their populace, making their whole ordeal of secession for naught.
They had practically become a bare bones nation fighting for nothing but a false sovereignty. They had lost the support of the population. The Minos Rebel Government merely had the military under their command.
As he sat quietly in his private jeep, looking at the expansive plains of the western region, he couldn't help but think about the days before their secession from the United World Government.
But he quickly shook his head, not wanting to have the same traitorous thoughts as the civilians that had abandoned the Minos Government. He'd rather be killed in battle than be considered as a traitor in the history of the War Tribe.
Though, it remained a question whether such a tribe would continue existing in the future.
Before the lieutenant colonel could keep himself occupied with his thoughts, a company captain's jeep drove beside him, giving an important report. "Sir, we have detected vehicles heading towards our direction. They appear to be coming from the hilltop in front of us."
Raising his eyebrows, the lieutenant colonel was somewhat confused. He gazed at the captain and questioned. "Are they our allies? Did they retreat from their positions?"
Retreat was a dishonorable conduct, especially if it wasn't a higher officer ordering them to do so. The captain glance forward, before returning his attention back to the commanding officer. "They don't seem to resembl-"
*BOOM!!!*
The captain couldn't continue speaking as an explosion rumbled from the front. Everyone quickly lowered their heads as another explosion resounded from behind.
*BOOM!!!*
"We are under attack!" The lieutenant colonel shouted as the rebel armored convoy was halted from their tracks. The armored battalion got stalled in the middle of the expansive plains as one after another, Minos Rebels got out of their heavy transport trucks.
'I didn't think they would have gotten this far... What are the western cities even doing? And what about the westward military camps?' The lack of information was beginning to infuriate the lieutenant colonel.
He was left ignorant about the true circumstance of the military, which made him annoyed. The lack of information hampered his ability to react efficiently into a situation.
"Give me a situation report!" The lieutenant colonel shouted, earning the salute of a report soldier, who quickly reported their circumstance. "Sir, the United Military has surrounded us. We don't know their true numbers yet, but they have completely stalled us from our advance."
"Alright, relay my orders to the captains. Scatter the companies and destroy whatever the United Military throws at us. Get the mechanized infantry into strategic locations and get me to the rear!" The lieutenant colonel gave orders to the soldier.
"Understood, Sir." The Minokin soldier nodded and left to relay his orders to nearby captains, who immediately attacked and got into strategic positions throughout the expansive plains. While settling here wouldn't give them the ability to achieve their mission, it was fairly clear that the western cities had fallen.
Otherwise, the forces of the United Military wouldn't have gotten so far into the western region.
*BOOM!!!*
The lieutenant colonel gritted his teeth while the driver reversed towards the rear, while doing so, another explosion took place. One of the heavy tanks exploded asunder, leaving nothing more but the dreadful screams of the crew inside.
*BOOM!!!*
"Ahhhh!"
"Help-!"
The commanding officer could only shake his head and continue looking back as his jeep kept reversing away from the center of the formation. Several dozens of soldiers had already left their trucks, entrenching themselves nearby while placing their rifles forward.
It was unfortunate that they didn't have air support, which was only provided by those humans of the United World Government before the rebellion. After all, they would have dominated this battle with air support.
There was no used in thinking about it now. The military wasn't that experienced in handling aircrafts. When they tried without the guidance of the United World Government. It ended in nothing short of a tragedy along with a brilliant explosion.
*BRRRrrrrtttt!*
Suppressive fire came by as dozens of holes were riddled everywhere. The lieutenant colonel exited the jeep and hid beside it, observing their adversaries. Their enemies were quick and maneuverable, immediately changing position after firing a whole round of hell at them.
It was an annoying strategy for them, especially when they hadn't acquired the ability to operate anti-tank weapons in greater efficiency. The ones that knew were part of the Special Response Division, which had long been dissolved by the United World Government.
*BOOOM!*
A nearby heavy truck exploded as several rebel soldiers were thrown back from the incredible force of the shock wave. The lieutenant colonel gritted his teeth as he thought about the strategies he could use against their adversaries.
They were practically suppressed despite being a battalion. Explore new worlds at empire
If they continued to keep themselves stalled in the middle of expanse, there was nothing but certain death that awaited them. With this in mind, the lieutenant colonel gave another order to his captains, which was relayed by his subordinate.
The order was to keep moving forward while laying suppressive counter-fire back at their adversaries. While it wasn't an excellent strategy, it was better than being impeded by their enemies.
The heavy tanks in the forward arrow formation began moving as their engines roared and rumbled. Their cannons pointed at the general direction of their adversaries and started firing suppressive counter-fire.
*Bam!* *Bam!* *Bam!* *Bam!* *Bam!*
Black smoke escaped the barrels of the heavy tanks as shells bombarded what was in front of them. However, it didn't impede the assault of their adversaries as another heavy tank exploded at the left side of the front arrow formation.
*BOOM!*
The explosion was thunderous as the ammunition storage of the tank brought about unwanted fiery flames, which quickly consumed whatever was inside of it. No screams could even leave the heavy tank, though it didn't matter.
The front arrow formation of heavy tanks continued to move forward, boldly firing everything they had towards their adversary. Meanwhile, the lieutenant colonel could only watch from the fear as he ordered the remaining of the battalion to follow the lead of the heavy tanks.
On the other hand, the APCs, IFVs, and MBTs continued to lay suppressive fire towards the incoming rebel armored convoy. One after another, heavy tanks exploded into bits, unable to defend themselves from the fierce onslaught of the MBTs.
Not only that, the IFVs were also equipped with anti-tank rockets, giving them better chances at handling the rushing stampede of heavy tanks heading towards their direction.
"Sir, our attacks are ineffective. The rebel armored convoy keeps moving forward." One of the tank operators reported to the captain, who quickly responded with calm. "Just buy us a few moments. Air support is inbound."
Hearing the incoming air support from the Forward Operating Base, the operations of the armored vehicles understood that victory was in sight. The only thing they needed to do was persevere through.
"Fire!" The tank commander ordered as one of the Abrams fired at the front most heavy tank, inflicting severe damage which brought about a resounding explosion.
*BOOM!!!*
