Chapter 72: Verina's Viewpoint: A Divine Goddess Descended From Heaven
Chapter 72: Verina's Viewpoint: A Divine Goddess Descended From Heaven
My name is Verina, and I'm a full-time Wayward Ohrtender.
"Verina, can you help me melt this part of the Silent Fragment? Just this intersection."
"Why not ask this great Arcane Master for help. Instead of that mediocre Ohrtender?"
"I don't want to deal with the absurd laws of arcane magic."
Narcissus, she was the golden fate of my life given to me and Lupina after we painstakingly chased after that one shady Divinator a couple of months ago.
And I love her, so, so, so, so much that I'm willing to conquer the whole concept of miracles and even the whole world just to land a meaningful relationship with her.
She was a vision of ethereal beauty, her presence commanding attention like a mythical goddess descended from the heavens.
Her golden tresses always cascaded down her back in silken waves, catching the light and shimmering like spun gold.
Her eyes, twin pools of mesmerizing crimson, were framed by perfectly thick, golden eyelashes that seemed to glow with an otherworldly light. Her gaze was always piercing and intense, regardless of her expression and emotion, as if she could peer into the very souls of those who dared meet it.
Her skin was a flawless expanse of pale ivory, soft and smooth to the touch, with a subtle luminescence that made her appear to glow from within.
Every movement she made was imbued with a regal grace, her godly noble bearing evident in the tilt of her chin and the set of her shoulders that she unconsciously performed. I doubted that she even knew that her aura exuded an air of divine authority, as if she were a celestial being deigning to walk among mortals, yet she didn't act like one.
Even while she was clothed, I couldn't forget that Narcissus' figure was an exemplary study in contrasts—her hips were generously curved, lending her a matronly, nurturing aspect that belied her otherwise youthful appearance. Her waist tapered elegantly, accentuating the swell of her hips.
Her breasts, while not overly large, were perfectly proportioned to her frame, their modest size only serving to enhance her overall ethereal beauty rather than detract from it.
Every aspect of Narcissus's appearance seemed designed to inspire pure reverence, from the regal arch of her eyebrows to the sensual color of her lips. She was a beauty incarnate, a living work of art that left all who beheld her breathless with wonder and desire.
And I had the chance to live my whole life dedicated to her.
Well, Lupina too, but it would be quite a long time until we could talk and bicker together like we used to.
"You seemed to be gazing at me a little bit too much lately. Is there something in your mind?" Narcissus said with a gentle curious curve on her lips. Her low and mature voice contrasted the beauty of her existence.
"I sensed that there is a brittle part in the current conjoined section of the steel."
"Huh, you're right. This part indeed looks a little bit brittle. Wait, how could you come to that conclusion by just watching me?" Narcissus let out a warm chuckle.
One time, she taught me a lot about chemistry. In the development of creating a spell to conjure a refreshing breathable air, I also learned a lot about odorant molecules that create scent.
Everytime we took a bath or a hygiene-care session, she requested me to cast such a spell to maintain comfort.
Right now, she was bathing in the scent that I created, especially after those barbaric sessions with that animaphage. Does that mean that she was enveloped in my scent?
Her hair smelled so good because of it, but it was still essentially mine. Hehehe, the mere thought of me wrapping her body with my scent was enough to improve my temperature, enhancing my focus and consciousness
All that aside, I need to come up with an answer, otherwise she would start to get suspicious of me..
"I'm thinking of crafting a new kind of spell, so I'm using your bodily movement as reference." I think that was good enough of an excuse to admire her indefinitely. She rarely caught my intention as long as I didn't show it in my demeanor.
"Alright, I'll be waiting to see what kind of spell you're brewing then." She finished with a smile before she continued to focus on her craftsmanship.
If only I learned the spell that allowed me to record sounds inside my mind, I would record every word that she uttered and enshrine them in my heart.
Also, Narcissus might not realize it, but sometimes, I saw a faint divine halo above her head. Sometimes, I saw numerous golden eyes in the air looking in the same direction as her gaze does.
There was also an instance where there were numerous golden rings with those eyes surrounding her. Sometimes, her face was replaced with a singular giant eye.
Lupina didn't perceive it back then, so I assumed that it only appeared to those who possess a great level of consciousness.
I wonder if that wretched animaphage saw something beyond what I saw, since she was at a higher level of spellcasting than I was.
"It never dawned on me before." The animaphage uttered her words as she shoved her disgusting face at me. "But have you always been this emotionless, lassie?
"I showed a lot of emotion in front of Narcissus, you're just too lackluster to notice it."
"Oh, my apologies, I didn't realize your subtle display of emotion was meant to be appreciated," she quipped, her tone laced with playful condescension like usual. "Forgive me for failing to recognize the masterpiece of feelings hidden under that... riveting performance of a plain drape over what you call a human-like face."
I chambered a concentrated combustion projectile spell into my musket, my jaw tightening. "I can show you what a riveting performance looks like, with your disgusting face as the stage."
The animaphage chuckled, unfazed, as she opened her parasol with a soft click, twirling it lazily. "Oh, darling, playwrights at least know when to stay on script. Shouldn't you be working on that smelting job instead of trying to make a spectacle out of... well, nothing?" She flashed a mocking smile. "Priorities, my dear. Do your job first~"
"The same can be said to you, Kuzunoha," Narcissus followed up with a protruding vein on her beautiful face. "Focus on the job I gave you. Also, don't play around with your umbrella inside the workshop, that is a safety hazard."
"I'm thankful for the reminder, darling~"
It seemed like Narcissus was still influenced by the negative outcome of the love hex, her hatred of the animaphage still looked unnatural.
As much as I enjoy seeing Narcissus berate that wretched abomination with hatred, I didn't like the fact that my beloved Narcissus was influenced in her choice and action. It was as if I saw my reliquary was tarnished in front of me without my consent.
For the animaphage's comment about my eternal deadpan. Well, it wasn't like it was my choice or will to have this kind of trait.
And I wasn't always like this either.
