"Are we still doing this?" I asked, yawning mid-sentence. "This is getting kind of old."

But do you know what's not old?

My horns!

With a lazy smile, I stomped the ground, cracking the sea beneath me as I shot forward, leaving a massive wake of displaced water in my path. I reached him in a heartbeat, twisting my body in the air before bringing my horned head down in a fierce headbutt.

The impact was absurd. The Revenant's faceplate shattered under the force, and for a moment, the world itself seemed to stop. The water didn't move, the sky didn't breathe. The Revenant's body convulsed, staggering backward.

"Hah!" I laughed, rubbing my horns like they were trophies. "I should do this move more often!"

He wasn't done, though. He raised his harpoon, desperately attempting another strike. But I was already too close. I planted a stamp of my foot into his chest, violently, sending him skidding across the surface of the oily sea, waves of black water trailing behind him.

"Seems like you're having fun," Kuzunoha returned with her welcomed voice. "The Drowned Revenant seemed to be having a frustration. What did you just do?"

"I kicked him hard!"

"Right, I forgot that you're still dumb." Kuzunoha cleared her throat. "I've already surrounded the Qliphoth Core of the Drowned Revenant with the needed spell to subdue him.

"Before we can finally take him down, I need to plant a lingering presence of my arcane spell onto his soul and physicality. If you have a suggestion on what kind of spell that I will cast on him, feel free to voice your idea before I use a spell of my own choosing."

Hmm, a single, one final spell to finally mark our domination over this unrelenting Qliphoth Object…

Now that I think about it, why did the information screen of the Qliphoth Object refer to the entity as a 'he' instead of a neutral 'it'? The same went for the other Qliphoth Object that I faced so far.

Does this imply that the concept of gender was much more prevalent to their lore and origin than I thought?

Regardless, it would be hilarious if I could just give them the same fate that befell upon me, which was me arriving in this world as a different gender than my original one.

"Let's genderbend him!" I suggested enthusiastically, not even caring about the details and consequences, because I'm still in the state of idiocy.

"Consider it done~!"

With a burst of light and crackling energy, Kuzunoha's spell shot from the pure white sky, spiraling toward the Drowned Revenant like a comet.

I stood back, sneering like a child waiting for a prank to unfold. As the spell connected, the Revenant let out a guttural roar, his body appearing to be twisting and convulsing under the power of Kuzunoha's magic.

The sea around us surged, waves crashing in confusion as the Revenant's towering, hulking form began to warp.

With the Revenant trying his best to close his distance with me before the spell took effect.

But unfortunately for him, transformation was immediate.

The once-massive, lumbering behemoth began to shrink, his armor collapsing inward like an empty shell as his limbs slimmed down, his broad chest narrowing. Barnacles and seaweed sloughed off in heaps, sinking into the dark, oily sea below. His entire form became lithe, almost delicate, though his rage-filled eyes remained fixed on me.

When the light finally faded, the Revenant already stood before me—transformed.

Instead of the monstrous figure I had been fighting, there now stood a woman of normal size—which was considerably small and adorable in comparison to my current physicality.

Her once-massive body was replaced with a slender, human-sized frame. Her skin, now pale and smooth, still glistened with water, and remnants of her old armor clung to her form, hanging loosely like sea-drenched rags. Her face, uncovered and exposed, was sharp and fierce, framed by damp, dark hair that clung to her neck and shoulders.

Despite her smaller stature, the fire in her eyes burned with a familiar fury.

Also, her face was quite cute and youthful.

"You..." Her voice, though now higher, still carried the same chilling echo of the abyss. But this time, there was a quiver, a touch of something foreign for her—the feeling of embarrassment. "What have you done to me?"

I blinked at her, confused for a moment. "Uh... I mean, you look great?" I said with an awkward grin, completely unsure of what to say in situations where my enemy suddenly turned into a woman, even though it was my very own wish.

The Revenant's hands clenched into fists, her new, more delicate fingers trembling as she looked down at herself. "This... this is humiliating!" she spat, her voice cracking slightly as she fought to regain control of her emotions. She glared at me, her pale cheeks tinged with red—whether from fury or shame, I couldn't tell.

"Embarrassing or not, you're kind of cute now," I teased, giving a reassuring thumbs up, as I was still adjusting to the bizarre new situation.

Her eyes flashed dangerously, and in an instant, she lunged at me, her harpoon sword, now slimmer and sleeker to match her form, whistling through the air with a new kind of grace and speed.

But despite her newfound elegance, I was quicker. Without a second thought, I ducked under her swipe and delivered a playful jab to her side. "You're faster now! But are you sure you know how to handle that smaller body?"

Her face flushed even more as she whirled around to face me. "I... don't need your condescending remarks!" she hissed, lashing out with a wild swing.

I sidestepped easily, watching as her new form struggled to keep up with her old combat instincts.

"Yeah, you definitely don't move the same," I noted, dodging her next attack with a lazy spin. "You might want to get used to those legs before you try to kill me again."

"Silence!" she growled, her harpoon crashing into the sea with a spray of oily water. "I will end you, no matter the form I take!"
