Chapter 216: With Audrey
Chapter 216: With Audrey
"Sure..." David did not refuse Jane's request.
He did want to come to the family's main house, see its members other than the ones he had met.
"By the way, I can't accompany you tonight because I have to go to my sister's new house," he added, telling Jane about where he was going tonight.
Considering they had not seen each other for a long time, they should have spent the night together. Unfortunately, that could not be for tonight.
Jane's expression did not change when she heard that.
She just nodded lightly, as if she did not mind.
Seeing her overly calm expression, David felt guilty. He finally stroked her hair to give her some comfort.
Minute after minute passed, the sky began to darken.
Jane knew that it was time to go home, so she started tidying up her books, putting them into her bag.
"Let's go, don't make your sister angry for waiting for you," she said as she stood up.
She knew that David wouldn't come home before she did, so she couldn't stay there even though it was fine for students to stay at the university until late.
David nodded, then left the classroom with her.
When he arrived at the university grounds, he found that Audrey was waiting beside her car, but she was still talking to Ella.
Audrey couldn't get into the car because the key was still in his hand.
Jane nudged David's hand as a sign that they were parting ways here as her car was parked in a different area.
Lisa was also waiting now, so Jane quickened her pace.
As he walked towards Audrey, David sighed, feeling uncomfortable about seeing Ella again.
The last time they met was the night she wanted him to drive her on his motorcycle but he refused her wishes, which then upset her.
What made him more uncomfortable was that Audrey had once threatened him to force him to marry that woman.
This signaled that Audrey didn't care if there was a certain relationship between him and Ella.
Unfortunately, that was something he did not want.
The woman may be beautiful, as well as cute.
She has an honorable identity, a lecturer which signifies that she is very intelligent and highly educated.
However, she has an unnatural behavior.
Who knows how her relationship with her young boyfriend is now.
When she saw him, she immediately smiled, as if she had forgotten that last time, she was upset with him.
"Ohh, look who it is, where have you been, I guess it's been a few days since I've seen you," she said in her usual casual tone.
David was actually a bit reluctant to respond, but for the sake of politeness, he chose to speak.
"Just taking a walk to find new experiences," he said.
After saying that, his gaze was really only on Audrey.
He didn't want Ella to keep talking, worried that she would start saying nonsense.
"Sis, am I or are you going to drive?" he asked Audrey, pointing the car key at her.
Audrey apparently took the key as she replied, "just me, you don't know the directions."
After that, Audrey opened the driver's door, getting in directly while waving her hand to Ella.
Their conversation seemed to be over.
Ella also looked like she wanted to leave, but she was still waiting for David to get into the car.
For a moment, David looked at her again, finding that she was smiling faintly at him.
That he didn't care about. He got into the car as if he didn't care.
Inside the car, he leaned back, instantly assuming a relaxed posture.
Today was quite tiring. He actually wanted to rest soon.
Audrey didn't say anything, just looked at him for a while before starting to drive the car, leaving the university.
They went to the northern part of Paris.
Along the way, Audrey just kept driving, not saying anything at all.
It happened to be after work. The roads are quite congested so the sound of horns fills the streets.
This kind of noisy atmosphere was uncomfortable for Audrey. She knitted her eyebrows many times.
David was also annoyed that he wanted to smoke, but hesitated to do so now that Audrey was driving beside him.
She did know that he was already smoking. She didn't really mind, but this situation wasn't good enough to do so.
Worst of all, Audrey was suddenly curious so she tried it too. That would be a serious problem. David didn't want his older sister to become a smoker.
Since there were no drinks at all in the car, so the two of them could only be patient while trying to wait out this traffic jam, which made them really long on the road.
"Sis, if you're tired, I can replace you driving," David said as he saw Audrey's eyes start to get sleepy.
If she sat on the side and fell asleep, that would be great. That way, he could smoke with satisfaction.
Unfortunately, Audrey shook her head.

"No need," she replied.
After that, she chose to play music loudly in the car, music that was not really to David's taste so hearing it only made David somewhat uncomfortable.
In the end, when passing a restaurant while the road ahead was still congested, Audrey chose to enter the restaurant's courtyard, stopping the car there.
"Let's have dinner first," she said, sighing, lowering the backrest of her seat back slightly and stretching her body that seemed to have become stiff.
She got out of the car right after that, as if she couldn't sit there any longer.
David followed her.
Standing outside, he couldn't help but look at the traffic jam ahead.
One of the things that made this traffic jam even worse was because of the big trucks from England.
'It might be better if we use a motorcycle later,' he thought.
If they used a motorcycle, they could easily cut through the traffic or even ride on the sidewalk.
In a chaotic situation like this, who cares about rules.
"Come on!" Audrey called out to him as he thought, signaling him to enter the restaurant whose building was completely surrounded by a glass facade on either the first floor or the second floor.
It sold eastern foods, whether Japanese, Korean, Chinese, or even Southeast Asian, including fancy restaurants. All the patrons are the elite with fancy cars.
It could be said that Audrey's car was the most conspicuous there because it was considered too cheap.
David just realized that, but he thought there was no need to worry about status here. If anyone knew Audrey, they would know what she had just accomplished and the rules she made in selling her products.
