Chapter 573: Chapter 573: The Pitiful Always Have Their Hateful Side
A chill ran through Qiao Yin’s heart as she listened.
She knew the people in Qiao Family were callous, but she was taken aback by the depth of their cruel nature.
For a million dowry, they were willing to ruin their daughter’s life!
They simply had no regard for Qiao Lainan’s life and wellbeing!
“Cousin, please save me, I really don’t want to go back home. Going back is a path leading to death!”
“I will never harm you again, and I will never try to seduce your husband again! In fact, the reason I tried to seduce him wasn’t willingly. It was all Eldest Uncle’s idea!”
“Eldest Uncle even suggested that I drug my brother-in-law and sleep with him. If I had a child with him, he would help me become a part of the Lu Family,” she confessed.
“But before I could put the plan into action, I was dragged back home by my family. Even without me, Eldest Uncle might send someone else to drug your husband. Cousin, if you help me pay back the dowry, I will help you monitor Eldest uncle, okay?”
“By the way, cousin, aren’t you competing with Lan Yuyi? I can help you! I’ll make up for my past wrongs!”
“Forgive me for all the wrong things I did, help me this once, just this once! If you help me repay the dowry, I will be indebted to you for life. Cousin, please help me!”
Ye Wan, standing aside, found it unbelievable. What heinous things had Qiao Yin’s cousin done? Had she really tried to seduce Lu Lingche, to even give him drugs so she could have his child?
Yet, she had the audacity to ask Qiao Yin to help her pay back a million dowry?
Apparently, there was something despicable about everyone who appeared pitiful.
Ye Wan subtly shook her head at Qiao Yin, signaling her not to help a person who obviously had no moral bottom line.
Qiao Yin merely smiled indifferently.
She didn’t need her cousin to remind her. She knew in her heart that Qiao Lainan wasn’t worth her help.
Apart from Qiao Jiasen, no one else in the Qiao Family was worth her sympathy or aid.
Her voice rang coldly, “Qiao Lainan, the best thing you can do right now is to save yourself. You should be glad that the million in dowry was spent buying a house and not squandered. Sell the house and pay back your in-laws. Then you will be free.”
“How can I sell my brother’s house?!”
“That just proves you’re not desperate enough. When you’re pushed into a corner, you will.”
“Haven’t I been pushed into a corner? Cousin, it’s easy for you to say when you’re not in my shoes. I’m on the brink of being beaten to death or starved to death! Besides, if I sell my brother’s house, my parents will surely kill me upon my return!”
“Why would you return to such a family then?”
Qiao Lainan tearfully looked at her, “So after all this, cousin, you’re still unwilling to help me! How hard-hearted can you be, to just stand by and watch me die? Have you no compassion? We’re family, I’m your sister!”
“You’re accusing me of having no compassion? Does your grandmother have any? Your parents? Or your brother? How come you’re not blaming them, but blaming me instead?”
Qiao Yin replied coldly, “Let me make this clear, we’re not family, and you are not my sister. We have had little contact over the years, and now, you want to claim kinship and morally kidnap me? It won’t work!”
Seeing her apathetic and firm stance, Qiao Lainan realized there’s no way she could procure money from her this time.
She angrily stood up, glared at Qiao Yin fiercely, then turned and left.
Upon her departure, Ye Wan sighed in relief, “Yinyin, your cousin is simply outrageous. Judging by her attitude, it seems she’s not going to let it go. Will she come to trouble you again?”
“Possibly.”
“How can someone like her exist? Her parents took the dowry, but she ran to you, her cousin, for money to fix the hole they’ve dug. Is she treating you like a sucker?”
Qiao Yin also found it ironic, “She does regard me as a sucker. She’s not fundamentally a good person, so it’s not surprising that she would do such a thing. But, the one who suggested this idea to her, and told her to come to me, is the real jerk.”
