Chapter 643: Mistakes

The Sect Leader was flabbergasted. The Ancestor gave up just like that? The old man was deciding their fate without even putting up a fight. A sudden rage appeared in his gut and his eyes glimmered. He turned his gaze towards the giant spider and brought out a Messaging Jade. Just as he was about to use it, the old man turned around to face him and shook his head. That noble law spread out again, a show of ultimate authority.

Do as I said. We have erred, and we shall make up for it. You let your daughter choose the wrong path for us, and now we have to make things right.

The Violet Light Sect cannot be so easily defeated! Ancestor, you must stand up for us!

The old man sighed, You still do not see it. We cannot stand against him. We chose to meddle where we shouldnt have and this is what it has brought us.

The Sect Leader stumbled backwards. He thought back to when he had summoned the Ancestor out of seclusion. His own daughter, Zi Mei, had found news of a new Seal Master and she had been part of the plot to turn Black Saber and the others against Sage. Seal Masters were outlawed and so he considered him a villain. In this world of might makes right, shouldnt a villain be a perfect target to take advantage of? Even the Ancestor had agreed and they had sent Sunset, their most elite and covert team, after him. Then, when their escaped quarry showed up again, the Ancestor personally led Sunset to take him down. Yet, now the Ancestor was no match for this Seal Master?

He fell onto his knees and his hands fell to the ground. All the life drained from his face.

The Ancestor saw this and shook his head. The Messaging Jade flew out of the Sect Leaders hand and went into his own. Then he gave the order himself and a half-dozen people appeared from various directions, converging upon them with their auras surging brightly. They saw their Sect Leader, on his knees and looking completely listless. They turned to face the giant spider and gathered their courage. If their leader was beaten this badly, how would they fare?

Those six new arrivals looked to range in age from middle aged to venerable seniors, but their power was all at the peak of the fifth rank, seeming on the verge of becoming Nascent Souls. Even so, they were only a second rate power. They had only a single rank 6, and controlled only a single county. The Ancestor had a new body, but it was even weaker than his old one. His power had declined while his enemys had multiplied. The Fu Clan had not responded to his pleas for help. When he got news of the Artful Life Alliance being attacked, he was fearful of this happening. He wanted to send away the most promising disciples, but his enemy was in the dark. What if Lang Sheng found and killed the disciples he sent away?

The old man knew he had taken the wrong path. His own law was related to nobility. A righteous and undefeatable will. He had let the younger generation lead him down the wrong path and now they would suffer for it. He just thought he was cleaning up for a naughty girls blunder, but it had gone so very out of control.

At that point, the old man looked up towards the towering beast in the distance.

Will you honor your word, Lang Sheng? The rest can be spared?

I will.

The old man took a deep breath and nodded. The six elders didnt know what their ancestor was talking about, but they all stepped forward, ready to battle with the giant monster. Then the Ancestor lifted his hand and pointed his finger. A light so bright it looked like a tiny violet sun appeared on the tip of his finger. Then he stepped back and thrust his finger forward, the tiny star split into seven pieces and purple beams shot out, striking the Sect Leader and the six elders in the back. The violet light shot out the front of their chests, each beam accurately striking them directly in the heart and boring clean through.

The giant spider had a face that humans couldnt read, but the Ancestors was overcome with sadness. He lifted his finger to his temple, but a booming voice stopped him.

Dont forget those who were part of the battle.

That wasnt part of the deal!

They killed my people, so they must die.

The old man seemed to age rapidly. Those reinforcements in that battle were some of the elites in their sect. So many of them had come to support the hunt and help to put down this threat. He had lost his body at that point and wanted to ensure their victory. How was he to know that he had been signing a death warrant for all of those disciples?

The old man sighed.

He called over those elite teams and his violet finger snuffed out their lives. He gave them all a quick and painless death. The cold gaze of that giant beast pressed upon his back. He knew that if he did not comply, then the Violet Light Sect would be completely eradicated. The leaders and so many elites had to die, but at least they still had seedlings for the future. There were still Core Formation Cultivators to protect and raise a new generation of the Violet Light Sect.

He turned back around and looked up at that monster again, Satisfied?

I am. Do it.

A beam of violet light shot into the air, burning a hole clean through the old mans temples. His body slumped down to the ground, that attack had aimed directly at his own Nascent Soul, ending his life.

That giant spiders Spiritual Sense focused upon the old mans corpse. He had observed the whole process carefully, not wanting to leave a way for the old man to trick him and hatch a plot to hang onto his life. He scoured the area carefully and after confirming the identities of the dead, he reached out with his Spirit Power and all of the storage treasures flew up from their bodies. Rings, pouches, bags, and all sorts of small trinkets and jewelry were lifted into the air with a telekinetic force and sent into the Universe Ring. Sage carefully searched their bodies and clothing, taking away anything they had on them. He did this every time he wasnt in a rush to loot someone. There were plenty of craft people that wore storage treasures as earrings or stuffed them into their boots. Some sewed Storage Pouches into their pockets, or folded up maps and strapped them to their thighs, so as long as he had the time he was thorough.

Once the search was finished, he turned around and walked away. The ground rumbled beneath him, his massive bulk causing the tips of his legs to form a small crater on the ground with every step he took.

He hadnt been lying to that old man. If he hadnt done as he said, he would have killed the whole Sect. Unlike a Clan, everyone in a sect had chosen to join, and only a few of them could be considered children. Even so, those youngsters could hardly be considered members and he would have told them they were expelled before slaughtering the rest. Even so, he was glad that the old man had taken his offer. It would have been a waste to kill so many that were uninvolved with the crime against him.

Before leaving Red Jungle County, there was one more stop he had to make.
