Chapter 519: Chapter 519: Mysteriously Confusing

When they saw what was happening in the distance, everyone’s faces changed. They could clearly see teeming masses of centaurs shuttling through the area.

“Damn it, how are we supposed to play now? There must be at least a hundred thousand centaurs in this place—this is deadly!” the Guardian Angel exclaimed.

The others also looked worried. This was like a small city, without walls but with unbroken arrays of tents stretching as far as the eye could see.

A huge building sat ensconced in the middle of this bustling place, forming the heart of the tribe. This did not look like a place tainted by the Evil God at all.

“So many centaurs… Even if there are those who aren’t warriors, even if many aren’t silver-haired, they could still drown us,” Shadow Dance worriedly said.

Without him saying, everyone knew. They had killed over ten thousand centaurs earlier, but that was because they launched a concerted attack, and the number of centaurs they faced wasn’t overwhelming.

But now? There were so many centaurs that one round of simultaneous archery from them would be enough to black out the sun. Even if they hid in the forest, it would be useless.

As for recapturing the altar in the middle and slowly clearing it out as they had before, aside from the fact that they couldn’t possibly kill all the creatures within such a large radius, even if they did manage to reach the altar, they would drop dead from exhaustion with so many enemies.

Most crucially, this was the Evil Hoof Tribe’s main base, where the strongest centaurs surely resided. Given all these factors, they saw no hope of victory.

“Boss gathered many things, but even if we use all of those scrolls, it won’t be enough,” Newbie Mu Zi said. “You all should have seen the Ancient War, right? Those powerful demigods were formidable, but they still lost to the demon army’s swarm tactics and were completely drowned.”

What Newbie Mu Zi was referring to was the most vicious battle in the history of the Ancient God World, also known as the Catastrophe. To defend the Ancient God World, many powerful demigods led their respective races and descendants into battle.

In the end, very few demigods survived; the rest were completely overwhelmed by the Demon Army’s swarm tactics. Even with heaven-defying battle power, there was a limit when facing an endless horde of enemies.

Not to mention, they were only twenty-five players, far removed from demigods.

“Something’s not right. All the centaurs we’ve seen, even when they began using their arrays, were tainted. Why do the centaurs here look just like the ones outside, untainted by corrosion?” Unparalleled Enchantress asked.

Li Yao nodded and replied, “You’re right. Although the United Army is fighting against the centaurs, their aim isn’t to completely exterminate them but to preserve the centaur children, allowing them to return to the embrace of the natural demigods and add strength for the future.”

In reality, this would be akin to raising a tiger to invite disaster. But in this fantasy world, as long as they believed in the natural demigods, influencing and guiding them was not impossible.

The struggle between the two camps for the centaur’s territory was not wholly for conquest, but rather to support tribes affiliated with their respective factions. Although the centaur race was greatly weakened now.

But after ten or twenty years, the centaurs would again become a force that could not be ignored.

Li Yao certainly knew the storyline’s direction and the progress of this instance, but he couldn’t disclose it. He could only guess along with the others and wait for the plot to unfold.

“So, you mean we don’t need to deal with so many centaurs?” Pupil Pupil caught on to the crucial point.

Unparalleled Enchantress replied, “Because we can’t possibly handle them. Let’s go. If we get closer we might trigger something in the plot.”

Li Yao nodded, and the team slowly approached the small town of centaurs.

The members of Starfire were nervous; if they got embroiled with so many centaurs inside, they would surely be wiped out. There was no doubt about that.

When they had walked a few thousand yards, they saw a group of centaurs swiftly galloping toward them.

With the clear sound of hooves, the centaurs quickly reached them.

At this point, the members of Starfire had no option; it was too late. They had no choice but to go forward.

Everyone noticed that although these centaurs were very powerful, with a high-level leader at the front, their bodies and antlers showed no signs of corruption; they were the purest of centaurs.

“Outsiders, it’s a miracle that you’ve made it here,” the centaur chieftain greeted Li Yao and his team with a nod.

They had been fully prepared for a deadly battle, but they never expected this.

“This is not right, there might be a trap,” Guardian Angel was also puzzled about the situation.

They had killed so many centaurs. The centaurs should hate them, so why were they being polite? Plus, they looked different from the other centaurs outside.

The centaurs that the United Army was dealing with did not believe in the Nightmare God; they were lost and frenzied, having completely abandoned their ancestors and becoming aggressive and violent, hardly polite.

But these centaurs gave them a feeling of nature and peace, as if they had become one with nature.

Li Yao stepped forward, paying his respects, and said, “You surely know how many of your kin we’ve killed to get here; there’s no need to beat around the bush.”

A flash of sorrow appeared in the centaur chieftain’s eyes. He sighed and said, “Foreign friends, you may not know this, but from the moment they started believing in the Nightmare God, they ceased to be our kin. They’ve completely lost their way, lost their sense of self, and become mere slaves.”

“Then what about you guys?” Unparalleled Enchantress asked.

“It’s complicated, and we can’t discuss it here. Dear guests, will you follow me into the tribe?” The chieftain made a welcoming gesture.

The team looked at each other. This chieftain was incredibly noble and courteous. The centaurs behind him gave off an intimidating aura but did not seem hostile. In fact, their gaze carried a touch of gratitude.

“Could this be a trap?” It’s Just a Disease typed in the team’s chat.

Unparalleled Enchantress and Sister Li exchanged puzzled looks, unsure what to do.

Though this was a game, with the world seeming so real, it wasn’t as easy to act. And considering that there was a high-level leader among them, with such a large tribe, there was bound to be more than one.

“Let’s go. I believe they mean us no harm. If they wanted to kill us, there’s no need for them to go through all this trouble.” Li Yao paid his respects to the chieftain, and said, “Then we shall trouble you.”

The team reasoned that, at this point, even if they wanted to run, they couldn’t. These were centaurs, after all; they were much faster than average horses. Their two legs certainly couldn’t outrun the centaurs’ four…
