Chapter 451 Final Boss
??"I am well aware that if you go all out, the majority of these, and even a large number of them, will be killed before you go down, but I assure you that you will die," Magnus said, pointing at the group with him and the larger one observing from a distance.
"So I advise you to consider my offers very seriously," Magnus said, his figure enveloped in wisps of crimson lightning, each flicker accentuating the intensity of his aura as he stood before them, a commanding presence amidst the crackling energy.
Alex could see that none of the top thirty guilds were present in the twenty-two teams standing before him, ready to fight, and while many of them were new faces to the player base, he knew that all of them were strong and could match against the top fifty guild strong figures.
So if the battle did break out, even if Odin, Ra, Zeues, or figures like Killian didn't join, he would need to go all out, and even that would not guarantee his victory against the odds he was up against.
While he could see many guilds, those he was acquainted with, and others who would take the opportunity to get on his organization's good side by joining the battle, the end result would still not change much.
"What is the item that you want?" Alex questioned, trying to figure out what Magnus wanted from the long list of items and even if it was currently available to him.
There were three sections of the Ruler treasury, and two of them were open to Alex, with both having over sixty thousand items, a few hundred mythical-grade items, and many items carrying enough value for two big guilds to wage war.
There were also forbidden items that, even though available to Alex, he needed to reach certain strength and Ruler authority to be able to take them.
"Infinitus, a magic core made by DOOM," Magnus said, and Alex couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in surprise.
The mana core Infinitus was a dark cube that he luckily acquired from the Lich months ago in an encounter that very much got him killed by the Death Knight summoned by the Lich, and he only survived thanks to Elder Darrien.
The cube was the creation of the mysterious forger named DOOM, and it was one heck of an item, being mythical quality and offering two broken skills, one that protected the user against any physical and mental attacks up to the user Rank, and other skill being the true high light, as it increased the user attacks strength by one Rank.
The only requirement for the skills was the large reserve of mana, and Alex never tested the cube limits, but he knew that something of mythical quality and made by DOOM would be very special.
But what puzzled Alex was not that Magnus knew he possessed the cube but that he said it was in the Ruler treasury, which it was not, and instead, it was collecting dust in his secured inventory from the day he acquired it.
Alex questioned if there was another cube inside his treasury, but after a quick search of his organization's private warehouse that held the catalog of all the items, he did not find it, so he quickly reached an unexpected conclusion.
Alex knew Magnus would have used a system wish to get the information about the core and who held it, and as Zero wouldn't give up his identity, the closest would be a hint no matter what price was paid.
But even then, Magnus would not be given any false information, meaning he learned about the Ruler treasury from someone else, or there was another cube with the same name and same forger resting in the third section of the Ruler treasury.
'The Ruler's treasury is known to only a handful within the domain, so the chances of him finding it from the outside are higher, and in the outside world, there are even fewer people who know about it,' Alex thought, feeling he might be upto something.
Alex was so intrigued by his findings because if Magnus was connected to demons, then it would be a big find because he was not just a nobody and was connected to various big factions, the main one being the Olympian guild.
"I refuse both of your offers," Alex said, with a calm smile, before he turned around and began to leave the vicinity of the small island.
Alex heard the surprise of gathered players, as they expected a negotiation or a battle to the death, but never in their wildest imagination did they expect the most feared team to just back away, practically leaving the event without putting any resistance.
Alex and the team departed from the island, leaving behind a murmuring crowd of spectators, and even the vast number of viewers were left speechless as they expected at least a wild show from them and not just see them walk away like they could care less of the final results.
"Brother, are we really giving up on the event?" Andrei interrogated as he heard the few irritating remarks thrown by players who came seeking a fight.
"While it would be fun thinning down their numbers, it would not end in our victory, nor will it affect the end result of the event," Alex said, not bothered by how things were turning out, not because he was very confident in the Temporal Beacon skill but because he had little to lose for not winning the event.
Alex's purpose for joining the event was to make a name for his organization and grow as an individual because it was not every day he got the chance to contest against the world's finest, and he had accomplished both of them and if given the opportunity he would also work for the complete victory.
"I was looking forward to using the first version of Avatar of Cannibalism," Andrei said, sounding a bit disappointed as he settled down on the invisible platform formed of solid space.
"Let's enjoy the show," Alex said, not sharing that he was somewhat confident that he could enter the barrier because the barrier stopped someone using force while he was shifting space, a completely different thing.
Alex also sensed that even if his skill failed to bypass the barrier, Zero would allow him entry just to keep things interesting, and if he did not, then he could do nothing about it.
After a several moments elapsed, a translucent barrier gradually materialized around the island, and at its center, a massive magic circle emerged, radiating with powerful energy fluctuations, while the teams swiftly moved into a crescent formation around the magic circle in anticipation of what was to come.
As the seconds passed, players positioned their traps strategically around the circle, each person poised to fulfill their role.
Sixty seconds later, a colossal beam of light erupted from the magic circle, spanning a radius of three hundred meters and bathing the entire island in blinding brilliance.
lights??v?l ??m Before the light had even fully dissipated, a piercing screech reverberated through the surroundings, echoing across the island and sending shivers down the spines of all who listened it.
A suffocating presence and blood lust was released, making the knees of many players buckle under the pressure, and what followed was tendrils of red lightning numbering in the hundreds with several as thick as a person pulsed out from the center in all directions.
The crackling tendrils of lightning tore through the solid ground as if it was mere paper, while unlucky players found themselves struck by the electrifying force, their bodies thrown back like rag dolls, hurtling through the air like cannonballs and crashing into other players with bone-jarring force.
"What in the world is that?" Andrei exclaimed, his eyes fixed on the figure shrouded in dissipating light and billowing dust clouds.
"Quetzalcoatl, The MythicalFeathered Serpent," Alex said, feeling his blood pumping at the pondered of going against the mighty creature that even far surpassed the fallen Seraphian he faced.
