Magical Academy: Rise of the Supreme Magic Craftsman

Chapter 151 - Fabricator

Chapter 151 - Fabricator

During the night, Wallace opened his laptop. This device wasn't purchased in any shops of this world as it's components were from the integral computer parts that he brought from the spaceship.

Wallace had modeled it not to look like too advanced as he modified it's casing to a standard level. Of course, he also considered how it looks so it wouldn't look too cheap or too expensive. It was now at a satisfactory level.

This laptop was of course connected to Avalon's database.

He was checking the blueprint of the Fabricator he wanted to create. Without this item, it would take decades to construct his mech frames, aircraft, and spaceship.

Of course, the A.I.'s automatons will be his main workforce to build his needs. But he stopped creating more automatons for now as 5 was more than enough hands to build his first Fabricator.

Once they build this 3D printer or commonly called as Fabricator, they can just place the materials along with blueprint to create certain high-end machined items.

The blueprints would obviously come from the A.I.

Wallace planned to name it under his name once it was constructed since it wouldn't just be another copy that came from Avalon's database. He would be enhancing the machine to be capable of analyzing magic structures together with arrays and formations. It would be a lot of work but it can be done. He'll just be needing some materials like memory crystals.

Aside from that, he will also require a lot of precious materials, so he had to build connections. There are some things that he could not purchase even if he had money.

He had to make his brand, Traceless Hands, be known so those materials that he has his eyes on can be easily reached in the future.

"Hmmm... Let's see..."

During the whole night he had been conceptualizing the full design of the fabricator using several blueprints as a base. For its capability to fabricate 'magic markings', it was still in trial and error stage an hour ago.

He had instructed Avalon for the five automatons to test their beta products before. They made a mini machine that would try to read the blueprint that was containing a mana formation and copy it to a certain material. This mini machine can only do one task at the moment and that is to copy a magic formation blueprint and fabricate it.

Unfortunately, all the test had been a failure so far until this day.

They couldn't find a way to perfectly fabricate them before, but luckily, he had some inspiration today so they have made some progress now.

The process of fabrication was built up with a Sustained Arcane Link as the heart of the machine.

This mini machine that was already built with a Mana Formation to hold the Sustained Arcane Link, wasn't easily made as well. The Sustained was basically Wallace's filtered mana that allows the machine to copy a certain Magic Formation blueprint contained in magic crystals and then place it to a magic structure core that was programmed beforehand.

Wallace took a month and a half just to make that magic formula.

Unfortunately, it was still failing before as for some reason, even though the mini machine can copy the magic formation or whatever it copies to a material, it still doesn't work.

This made him stuck for a while and he could only ask the A.I. to test many variations while he was thinking of other solutions.

He had asked before whether magic must really be made in the hands of a living magician. As maybe that was why the fabrication doesn't work.

But if that was the logic, then why would the automatons be capable of using magic? They aren't living as well.

Well, the automatons can use magic because its core or magic structure has a set of instructions to activate its magic spells. The magic spells work because of its magic formula similar to the magic structure. So it all comes down to instructions.

But Wallace couldn't find fault in the instructions he made for the fabricator. He had checked it multiple times but couldn't find the problem that he should fix until he had an idea recently.

Although it took some time to materialize his idea, the time spent was worthwhile. Miya had made him realize that there were still a lot of things he wasn't aware of about this world and that's even with the help of his A.I. He never had thought that Celebrity Idols can have that peculiarity.

So he decided to ask his father for suggestions today. Although he was also unaware of the answer, his words gave Wallace a path.

Wallace remembered his conversation with his father.

"How can I make a machine capable of creating magic arrays or formations on their own?" Wallace asked after getting a chance to talk with his father alone.

"Ohh... Just like how automatons were capable of casting magic spells?" His father, Chase, grinned as if he was remembering his younger self.

"Yes. I tried making one. My machines can cast magic spells but they can't create magic formation and array. That's really weird. I'm stuck."

"Ahh... I also tried that before. I created automatons to forge an artifact for business purposes when I was young. Unfortunately, even though they can follow instructions. The artifact they forge wasn't working. Although magic structures were made perfectly. It just doesn't work. I thought that time that the gods don't really want to make those non-livings create those foundational magic. I remember before..."

Wallace's father seems to be talkative at the moment. Probably due to his work that made him unable to talk too much. He continued to tell some stories before getting to the point.

"So, I found out that magicians have unique Mental Waves that we unconsciously release whenever we cast magic. It means that the magic structures or cores needed that. But no one had a clear understanding of it. It might even be incorrect. It wasn't in any books you've read right?"

"That's right."

"Mhm.. because it was only a theory. That theory was completely overthrown and any traces about mental waves study was removed."

"Huh? Why would they do that?"

"Well, are you aware of Aeolia's unfinished works before he 'died'?"

"Yes. He does have several unfinished works like the study of souls, the Lost Technology, and the path for the 6th generation. There are many theories and possible answers that came out after his death but none of them was proven. There are still many parts that others need to polish. Why did you ask?"

"I remembered before that there was a rumor telling that when Aeolia was studying the mysteries of the soul, he learned its connection with Mental Waves. He was also about to be successful during that time but his resources were cut off. He couldn't continue the critical part of the study so he sets his eye in a particular lost technology that would give him resources for his future research. Years after that was his death."

Wallace only stayed silent as he knows that his father wasn't done telling the story.

"What do you think will happen if automatons can make products imbued with magic formation and arrays? Do you know what country has the highest numbers of automatons?"

"It should be Maja." Wallace answered confidently. During the international competition, the representatives of that country had all used humanoid automatons. This made him curious as he learned that the country had prioritized the creation of the automaton as additional power due to their small population. Each magician in a mage battalion must have at least one or more automatons following beside them.

"Correct. Their automatons numbered in 450,000 last year, compare it to our country who only has 20,000 combat automatons. Some of them might even be trash. Just the number of their automatons were scary enough. What do you think will happen if they were capable of fixing themselves or creating themselves using their knowledge in magic formation and array?"

"That's going to be tough on their enemies."

"Yes. That is what everyone thinks so too. You know that Aeolia likes to share his research with the world right? Like the 4th or even the 5th gen mana artifacts..."

"Hmm... I understand." Wallace said. His father was clearly hinting at the danger of his study. Their country who doesn't have automatons as the main source of military power doesn't want to further strengthen the other's source of power.

Wallace wasn't sure about the political dilemma going on but he was confident that studying Mental Waves was the correct path.

The problem now was how he could make the automatons possess the unique Mental Waves that were required to make magic formation and array.

This is where Miya's help came in. The key was his Divine Sense.

The skill he received from the Pathfinders wasn't just a simple probing skill, it is a Soul Art. It was clearly proven when Miya, who doesn't even have a strength of a combat magician, was capable of sensing his Divine Sense.
