Chapter 66 Diversion
Chapter 66 Diversion
?Roman staggered to his feet, his once proud and menacing stance now replaced with a hunched and broken face. His nose was a mess, with broken teeth scattered on the ground, and he struggled to contain the urge to howl in agony.
Despite his reputation as a formidable criminal, he had underestimated the sheer power of the woman before him.
Lyka, however, remained calm and collected. She knew that victory was never guaranteed until the battle was won, and so she kept her guard up and waited for the perfect moment to strike and end the fight once and for all.
Her breathing was slow and steady, and her eyes remained locked on him, watching for any sign of weakness.
Finally,
Her sharp eyes caught the moment when Roman lost his balance after standing up, and she immediately seized the opportunity.
"This is it!" She exclaimed as she launched herself at Roman once again, her speed even faster than before and the wind circulating in her hands even stronger.
Roman sneered as she approached, feigning weakness in an attempt to catch her off guard.
As she closed in, he steadied his stance and braced himself for impact. He took her punch head on, but this time he was more prepared and didn't go flying from the force of the blow. In a split second, he opened his arms and attempted to hug her.
But Lyka was too skilled to fall for such a ploy.
"Hmph," she snorted, jumping upwards to dodge his embrace. She was a highly trained martial artist, and had predicted his move. Using her momentum, she spun in the air and delivered a powerful kick to Roman's head.
The kick landed with a sickening thud on Roman's cranium, causing his vision to go dark and his balance to falter. She seized the opportunity and unleashed a flurry of deadly punches, each strike aimed to end his life.
"Aggggh" he growled in pain
Roman's overconfidence had been his downfall. He had believed himself to be unbeatable, but now he was facing the full force of Lyka's fury. He felt true fear creeping into his heart as he realized the extent of his mistake.
Lyka showed no mercy, raining blow after blow on him with a ferocity that made him tremble. Even as Roman's skull caved in and brain matter spilled onto the floor, she did not stop. She knew that werewolves were known for their great vitality, so she kept punching until his entire head exploded in a shower of blood and bone fragments.
In that moment, Lyka looked like a vengeful goddess of destruction, and Roman's mangled corpse was the proof of her power.

The Wayne Building's fifth floor underground was a labyrinth of steel and concrete. A woman in her thirties, standing at a towering six feet with lean body and striking beauty, broke the eerie silence.
"Roman's life signature vanished," she said with a sense of urgency.
"Don't worry about him, Nika. He was nothing but a criminal used as bait." Her companion, a ruggedly handsome man with jet-black hair and a chiseled jaw, spoke in a thick Russian accent,
The duo belonged to the Wager Mercenaries, they're the secret team with a mission to retrieve crucial research files from the Wayne Corporation. Their client had offered a whopping two billion USD for the job, and the mercenaries were willing to go to great lengths to create a diversion.
"Are you done hacking the door, Hector?" Nika asked impatiently.
Time was of the essence, and they needed to leave the place quickly. Both Nika and Hector were supernatural beings, but their powers relied more on stealth and not brute force.
"Just a few more seconds, and..." Hector trailed off, his fingers furiously typing on the keyboard.
Finally, the mechanical door slid open, revealing a stark white room with several people in white lab coats lying unconscious. It was Nika's doing. She was a dream eater, and her powers allowed her to incapacitate her enemies by invading their dreams.
With a sense of purpose, the duo rushed into the room, determined to retrieve the files and get out of there as soon as possible.
Hector sprinted towards the laboratory main computer , his laptop clutched tightly in his hands. With his fingers flying across the keyboard, he connected his device to the Wayne Corporation's main system network.
Hacking into an entire network was a time-consuming task, but Hector had a specific target in mind. Their client had provided him with the exact folder he needed to retrieve.
As lines of code filled his screen, Hector pressed buttons with incredible speed. The corporation's anti-hacking system fought back, but he was no ordinary hacker. He was a supernatural being with a talent for deciphering codes.
After just two minutes, he had bypassed the system and accessed the coveted file. With a single click, he began downloading the important data.
But as he read through the contents, something caught Hector off guard. His eyes widened, and he almost choked.
"Project X"
It was a phrase he never thought he'd see again. A shiver ran down his spine as memories of his past flooded back. Hector knew that this information was far more valuable than their client had led them to believe. It was time to regroup and discuss their next move.
Hector's heart pounded as he yelled out,
"Let's go! The alarm will sound in just seven minutes!" He took off running with his laptop in hand, and Nika followed closely behind. They knew they had to get out of there before it was too late.
The underground laboratory was massive, and it was swarming with guards. But Hector had mapped out the entire place, and Nika's powers made quick work of any human who dared to cross their path.
As they weaved through the corridors, the tension in the air was strong. Hector's mind raced with the information he had just obtained from the Wayne Corporation's files.
"Project X," he muttered under his breath, knowing that it was a matter of great importance.
