Chapter 1215 Face To Face (3)

Chapter 1215 Face To Face (3)

"Brace yourselves."

A short warning, spoken in a calm, low voice that one could easily miss. Nonetheless, Marigold and those who were more or less in tune with Kyran's thought process knew he was the one who said those words and the meaning behind them.

[Everyone, get ready to retreat!]

Marigold telepathically ordered the mages with her. Following her words, all the mages with her took out a scroll from their space ring.

CRASH!

Soon after they took out the scrolls, the cracked domain crumbled with a resounding crash. As if they had already practiced it and that the crashing sound was their cue, they activated the scrolls in their hands simultaneously, and light enveloped them in an instant.

"GUH...!"

The combat and regular mages loyal to Estrid, unaware of the meaning behind Kyran's warning, were unprepared for the magic pressure that assaulted them soon after the dome collapsed. They were forced to the ground, and those who were already injured and were barely keeping their wits about were knocked out cold in an instant due to the pressures' overwhelming effect.

On the other hand, Marigold and her people disappeared soon after being enveloped by the light. Apparently, the scrolls they took out were teleportation scrolls, which they prepared for them to escape to safety.

"..kuh!" Kyran coughed up a mouthful of blood and nearly fell to his knees without True Void's assistance. As for the coughing up of blood, this happened because he still suffered a backlash for forcibly collapsing his domain just before Deus destroyed it.

"Get your act together, Void Halfling!" True Void told Kyran as he countered the magic pressure, now assaulting them in full force, with the disappearance of the Void Domain.

"Move!"

True Void had barely recovered Kyran's bearings when Ruin pushed them aside.

It was a timely save, though, as a concentrated magic attack swept passed the spot where they had just been standing.

"GAAAAH!"

The combat and regular mages under Estrid who failed to protect themselves from the magic pressure got swept by the concentrated magic attack and disintegrated in the blink of an eye.

"...!"

Fooom!

"...ngh!" Kyran gritted his teeth and endured the pain that wracked his body as he moved out of the way once more. This was because Deus had released a follow-up concentrated magic attack aimed at him.

"Ugh! This is bad! And I mean, this is seriously bad!" True Void started to repeat himself, which showed how much panic he was in.

However, Kyran could not be bothered by True Void's panic because Deus decided to focus on him rather than Ruin. By now, Deus was already aware that Kyran was the real Void Master and that Ruin only acted as a decoy to lead them around.

Not wanting to be fooled again, Deus completely ignored Ruin, and he aimed at Kyran. He also did not care about the Crepuscule Clan members lying around the floor and struggling from The Emperor's magic pressure.

"Ignoring me won't do you any good~"

Seemingly unamused by Deus's decision to ignore him, Ruin targeted him. Though the strength of his attacks was reduced because of The Emperor's magic pressure, he could still aim concentrated magic attacks at Deus. Red balls of light with red sparks flying off from the edges formed around Ruin's hands. He threw them toward Deus, aiming to distract the latter so he would miss at attacking Kyran.

"Azaloth!" Deus ground his teeth in annoyance and aimed one of his hands at Ruin.

Deus had been sending out concentrated magic attacks at Kyran with both hands so he could maximize his energy output. Still, with Ruin's constant interference, he could not even focus even one attack. He did not want to use a single hand when aiming at Kyran because it would reduce his magic output, but if he left Ruin be, he would not even be able to attack.

With this in mind, Deus would rather reduce his magic output so he could deal with Ruin and Kyran at the same time than not be able to attack any of them at all.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Deus and Ruin exchanged concentrated magic attacks one after another. However, the former was also busy aiming at Kyran with his other hand.

Alas, dealing with the two alone was a real challenge to Deus as he failed to land a solid hit on them.

"Come on, Void Halfling! Teleport! Or warp! What are you waiting for?" True Void kept urging Kyran while the latter continued dodging Deus's attacks.

"..."

"...!"

Seemingly sensing something was amiss at Kyran's insistence on staying behind, True Void thought of a possible reason and felt his blood drained out of him— not that he had any blood to drain in the first place.

"Can't you teleport or warp? No way, right?"

Just as True Void said, Kyran realized that he could not teleport. It was probably limited to his skill because he just saw Marigold and her people use a teleport scroll. But even when Kyran tried warping, he also could not do it.

At first, he could not teleport or warp to safety because he could not circulate his magic energy inside the Void Domain. But now that the domain was gone, his continued inability to teleport or warp meant something was preventing him from casting them.

In the first place, Kyran did not need any incantations to teleport or warp. He was not even using any magic array. All he had to do was rouse his magic energy, and he could teleport and warp. Warping was a little special, with him having to summon those purple discs, which acted like a portal of some sort that he could step on to go from one point to another.

"VOID HALFLING!" True Void seemed to have already lost his composure as he shouted in fear.

BOOM!

In a way, True Void's scream served some purpose because Kyran managed to dodge two concentrated magic attacks that Deus fired in his direction in succession.

Deus sneered as he watched the Void Master struggling to evade his attacks. He might not be able to see the latter's expression because of the dark purple armor it donned, but he more or less knew that the latter was already aware that he could not use his annoying 'teleport' and 'warp' skills.

"Did you really think we'll allow you to use your skills and escape again? Looks like you have been looking down on us," he taunted, evading one of Ruin's attacks and sending one of his own at the latter and the Void Master.

"This magic pressure is not ordinary— it belongs to The Emperor. It is foolish of you to underestimate it."

"...! Tsk, so that's how it is!"

Ruin finally noticed something and clicked his tongue in annoyance. He looked toward Kyran, who barely dodged three concentrated magic attacks that Deus aimed at him, and shouted, "The whole plane is already in a Pseudo-Dimension state! Once that guy arrives, the magic pressure will turn into a complete Dimension!"

Kyran frowned at Ruin's warning. To be fair, he already had an inkling that it might have been the case. But having someone else confirm it did not make him feel any better.

"SCROLLS!" True Void shouted at Kyran. "Use a scroll like those guys!"

True Void referred to Marigold and her people's use of teleportation scrolls as soon as Kyran collapsed his domain.

"I can't."

"What?"

"Hahahaha! Impossible!" Deus gloated at them. He suddenly stopped moving and spread his arms as if to show their side's dominance over the situation. "Right now, you will not be able to escape your fate this time."

"Stop trying to act cool! Aren't you just sitting on another guy's high horses!" Ruin snorted derisively at Deus's pathetic act while aiming a massive ball of red lightning at him.

Meanwhile, Kyran felt a little annoyed at the mention of 'fate.' He did not know why, but whenever he heard someone from the opposing side use that word, he felt like they were talking about the Fates themselves.

The massive ball of red lightning zoned in on Deus's direction. However, as if to mock Ruin, his attack slowed down even before it could reach midway, and its size slowly decreased. It then disappeared entirely without even reaching Deus.

Seeing this, Kyran, Ruin, and True Void knew their hope to escape had long gone.

This was not a foreboding because soon after Ruin's attack disappeared, the magic pressure that assaulted the whole plane intensified to the point that all buildings around them were crushed to bits. Even the wall, along the array formation that separated the inner city and outer city, was leveled and destroyed.

For the first time in a while, cold sweat trickled down Kyran's back. He looked up, and just in time, a figure, enveloped by a blinding light, descended.

"Finally...."

The figure muttered, yet his voice reverberated, humbling every existence in the plane.

"...It is so good to see you face to face, Void Master."

The Emperor had finally arrived.
