Chapter 90 End Of The Expedition
Chapter 90 End Of The Expedition
The dragon stood on top of a tall stone pillar above the lake. His clawed legs were firmly dug into the flat top, and his draconic eyes were unfocused, looking into nothingness as he read through the system log.

Condition: Infuse your voice with mana to order lesser draconic species and scare your foes!
Effects: A voice of a true dragon, when powered by mana, works as a medium for magic. It can contain encoded information and have unnatural convincing powers. However, its most powerful property is the power to give magical power to words as it is the voice of magic.

You met a hidden condition to unlock a hidden racial ability: [Noble Dragon Aura LV 1]
Condition: Radiate magical energy out of your body to pressure other beings.
Effects: Terrifying aura radiating out of a true, noble dragon. Applies pressure to surrounding beings in a radius of 50 meters, weakening them or freezing them on the spot. The effects' strength depends on the affected's willpower and their relative strength to a dragon using it.

'It looks like I already used both of these powers before, but I just wasn't conscious of it.'
Vesuvius kept reading through their effects repeatedly, confused over their vague wording and lack of solid numbers. He had already gotten used to the lack of numbers with some of his abilities, but he was extremely puzzled about the very vague and confusing wording of the effects of the first ability.
'Magical power to words... it sounds self-explanatory, but it is so vague that it can mean so many stuff. And the worst thing is that the information from the system on how to use this skill contains only information on how to properly infuse my voice with magic... which I already knew how to do unconsciously, likely due to my dragon instincts or inheritance.'
Hearing commotion on the ground, the dragon turned his gaze from the system and looked towards the ground.
Two remaining winners already logged in, a crowd slowly forming around, asking for a ride or bombing them with questions.
Seeing that, the dragon opened his mouth and spoke, "Once more, well done. I shall leave now. I have duties that require my presence!"
Finally, with that, the last objective of his mission to escort his expedition was accomplished.

Not waiting for the player's response, the dragon spread his massive wings glittering with gold covered in glowing fiery veins, launching from the stone pillar under him. The pillar under him cracked as his powerful legs pressed against it during his launch. His massive armoured body shot towards the sky, quickly reaching the clouds above him.
With his wings wide spread, he flew back towards his lair, the landscape under him quickly changing back into the tall snow-covered peaks.

Vesuvius felt his magical energy decrease, his eyes focusing on the tree in front of him. He kept waiting, his hope diminishing with each passing second, but nothing happened.
'Well, it definitely isn't working in this way... I guess something like that sounds more like a god-level power... Well, maybe I should visit that wyrm? I have a few questions for them... No, I just need a little bit more power before that, maybe after I get my runes.'
Vesuvius knew that he couldn't keep delaying it forever, but he couldn't help but try to avoid that feeling of being oppressed by the immense force radiating out of the ancient wyrm.
POV Alesia:
The small elf was lying on top of a soft and fluffy fur from a giant bear with her stomach downwards, kicking with her legs in the air. Her heterochromatic eyes were focused on a large sheet of paper in front of her.
Dozens of symbols connected with lines littered the sheet, creating complex diagrams. Alesia's eyes suddenly fell upon one specific character.
Suddenly the small elf jumped on her legs, excited as she squealed, "That's it, this is the source of the interference!"
Runic enchanting was complex art. One couldn't just slap a bunch of runes on a weapon. Each rune was filled with magical energy that could either interfere or resonate with other runes, so one couldn't just focus on the individual effects of specific runes or rune words. One had to always look at the whole picture.
"Grrr!" a quiet growl came from behind the elf, sending shivers through her body, but it quickly subsided as she turned towards its source.
The large beast that dwarfed her was lying in the corner of the room, glowing in a weak orange light that radiated out of magma-filled crevices in the black armour of the beast. Lightning occasionally flashed around it, making a flash of bright light.
'Still... what are you?' Alesia felt conflicted about not knowing what that beast was, 'You look like a wyvern, but you have elemental properties like a drake.'
Before she drank the dragon's blood, she would be shivering in fear just from being in the same room with such a monstrosity, but now she felt only excited.
Her eyes focused on the beast as her mouth curled up in a large smile, her eyes visibly flickering with magical energy.
"Come, give me your claw. I want to try a few more things." she grabbed a sharp-looking chisel made out of shiny pitch black metal from her belt, her intention entering the beast through a connection of their blood.
The beast took a step back, a sudden feeling of distress entering Alesia through the bloodline link connecting them.
"Don't worry. This time, there will be no explosion. I promise!"
The smile remained on her face, 'It is so nice that he left me this one until I get to the main course.'.
