Chapter 381 The World In Chaos
Chapter 381 The World In Chaos
One decade later:
POV A new secondary antagonist:
The tall, smooth castle walls towered atop the steep cliff, forming an impassable barrier. Runes and magic circles engraved into the wall's base faintly glowed, giving it a mystical look.
The imposing towers reached into the sky, their black shadows blocking the moon's and stars' shine.
Houses, villas, and paved streets stretched in all directions, surrounding the cliff and the castle.
A player stood in the unlit and empty side alley, a few metal plates gleaming under his cloak.
'The former royal castle. Truly a fortress worthy of a king. Today humanity will take back the old capital.'
The dragon was gone for more than a decade, either dead or deep asleep. It was their chance to act.
The masked woman by his side nodded, "I hope you will succeed. We need to expel the monsters ruling over humanity, once and for all."
He didn't answer. Instead, he drew his blade, its long and blade shimmering in the moonlight.
'I was right and he was wrong... yes we humans are not perfect and fight for resources. However, we always unite to fight against a common foe, humans of our two worlds don't have to fight. Instead, we should unite and fight against the true dangers of the universe.'
A disgust filled his entire being as he remembered the portion of players that went berserk, blinded by their greed for power and fear of repercussions. Yet, they had their own country now, the Earths Player Federation.
'With this, our faction will also have its own land.' He, the commander of the Human Alliance, couldn't help but feel pity and anger at all the fools greedily fighting for their own personal gain while slaughtering innocent humans.
'These fools, they made it all harder, but there is still hope. We, humans, should stay together to defeat the powerful monsters.'
He didn't believe they would fight as he was sure there were common and dangerous foes like demons that would unite humans of both worlds, and this night would prove it to the world.
'Humans of the two worlds fighting side by side against monsters.'
His cloak fell on the ground as he fully spread his eagle wings on his back. It was his duty as one of the few level-two-hundred players to lead.
"Attack, for humanity!" He flapped his wings and launched into the sky like a fighter jet. His sword radiated in calming, blue light, and more and more sounds of wings joined him as more and more players rose into the night sky from their hidings.
Their swords, spears, and staffs glowed on the black canvas of the night like stars.
The sturdy shapes of the fortifications quickly grew in size as they closed on.
Lights flashed all over the sky, and dozens upon hundreds of arrows and mana bolts descended upon the castle. The blasts reverberated through the city as all the mana bolts dissipated upon impacting the sturdy walls.
Bells resounded through the night, and dozens of armored humans of kobolds swarmed the walls amidst the rain projectiles, falling one by one.
"Faster! Faster!"
'This is our opportunity! No one expected this attack and their defenses are down. If we can take the castle now it will be the symbol of new hope!'
Right beloved him, an army swarmed the main road from the side valleys and rushed straight towards the outer gate. Their weapons clanged, and shouts shattered the silence of the night.
"For humanity!"
"Kill the monster usurpers!"
'Haha, humans from both worlds fighting against monsters! Everything is as it should be! We might be from different worlds, but in the end, we are all humans.'
Fireballs launched into the sky from the walls, accompanied by clouds of smoke and steam.
Instantly the entire sky looked like it during a new year festival as explosions of mana and fire filled the sky, and fire and sparks rained down.
Hundreds of blue, glowing bolts of mana descended upon the castle and dozens of huge fireballs shot from the towers and walls again and again.
In the meantime, far away:
POV A new primary antagonist:
The sky shone, flooded by the bright and pure white light. A demon's black, shadowy form fell like a meteor, its fiery wings extinguished, and a giant sword of light sticking out of its heart.
With a bang, it crashed upon the ruins of a city, shattering and crushing the buildings as if they were just children's toys. Thousands of red eyes lit up in the ruined city and looked at the sky, flickering with fear and terror.
"You have been banished, Marquis Zacharias. Burn in hell where your sinful soul belongs!" The angelic voice ringing with clarity and purity descended upon the world, and all the fire was extinguished, and the darkness banished away.
The hordes of the lesser demons fighting with armies of humans and angels squealed and screeched as they dispersed in all directions.
The rays of light rained down upon them, and their bodies burst into motes of black smoke and red fire.
Humans all looked up, their hearts filled with reverence. However, they couldn't see anything as everything was flooded by the light, turning the sky into a sea of heavenly radiance.
The angel's eye swept through the ranks of humans, 'No, my work is not done.' They could feel both good and evil in the hearts of the humans below, 'It is not my duty to punish them in life. Their judgment will come in their death.'
However, the angel's hearts exploded with fury as their eyes stopped at a priest standing far behind the ranks of soldiers.
'However, the church of Light is my responsibility! Preaching about the great god of light while being corrupted. Evil infected the institution that should be pure! It must be resolved!'
The angel's voice, filled with holy fury, made the humans fall to their knees, "Mortals, I can feel your sins! They are a stain on this world! The church that was supposed to serve the glory of the god of light is corrupted and rotten. However, matters of mortals shall remain in the hands of mortals! So rise for the second crusade and purify your own house of sin."
The bright white light turned even brighter, and the energy seeped into all the soldiers on the ground, making their eyes glow with fanaticism and zealotry.
"Go, it is time for inquisition! Go and punish the old clergy! The church of the god of light must remain pure and strong!"
'These demons... why have they appeared? And how they kept the gate open for so long? It took more than a decade of war for the gate to lose its power. There must be some evil scheme behind this.'
