Chapter 997 What's the point then?
[Eon's POV: ]
Quin and Rein's fight went something like this:
Rein started the assault first, with Quin taking a defensive approach at first. Then, she used her water spells to offensively attack her.
Rein cut down all those spells with her Mana, finding their exact cores and destroying them in a way that was unforeseen to the student on this battlefield.
She was defector cutting down spells, and that too without even using any Aura.
She was using it in a way that was simple, but at the same time, just too complicated to execute in reality, but, Quin knew the opponent that she was fighting was no normal person so she continues on with her offensive while maintaining a firm defensive stance.
She did not have any great Damge dealer left anymore so she knew her defeat was inevitable, so she was dragging that fight out so that the rest of her team could at the very least get as much points from the teachers as possible before they all go down.
I was already fighting captain Alpha at that time so that aside, the rest of the people here were also engaged in a fight.
She and her were the only ones fighting in their own areas right now, and though both of them were water mages, as Quin knew, unlike her, Rein had more battle experience with her scythe than her magic experience.
She was not only much older than her, she was also very good with her weapons even when she was hiding a good amount of her skills.
There was no doubt she was going to be defeated, but before that happened, she used every last bit of tricks that she had up her sleeves to buy as much time for the others as possible.
'She used her spells, she used her magic tome, she used her skills, she even used her elemental spirits, the Advanced spirits that not many people in this whole wide world possessed.'
They were her grandfather's last gift to her, so she cherished all her spirit friends as everyone from the spirit summoning class knew, but she wasn't the only one with spirits.
'Rein called out Clover and the two of them fought together.'
Clover was a spirit. Even though the only thing she had done until now was to help others recover their fatigue and boost up their stamina, she could do much more than someone close to the elemental queen of water.
'She could use the element itself in small pieces and create distractions for the opponent.'
With Rein's abundant Mana, Clover could actually even interfere with the elemental Mana of the opponent if that was of the same element- something the others had never seen until now.
'It was a new trick that her mentor taught her, and it was much more than just that. She had not yet mastered this trick so she was still in the process of mastering it.'
But when she masters it, as we know, she will be able to directly control the water element around her.
She had progressed quite a bit with that, but there was still some good progression needed, and she was working hard to achieve that mastery every single day.
'She had Clover dominated the battlefield, defeating Quin even after she had shown all the cards she had right now.'
The two of them devastated a third of the battlefield, so she finished up the battle, and now… she was standing beside me.
"Captain Zoe."
She was on my right side while Eula was on her right side.
My left side was empty since Ball was defeated by the others, but the captain of our group, the person that actually gave out most of the orders under my command, was on my left side.
"Vice captain Lucifer."
The two of us were the only ones left now. The entire battlefield was almost empty now.
Those who were left here were either just camping out somewhere or had already given up on the battle completely like Jen and her group.

The rest were defeated and, since I don't want to fight anymore, the two of us were standing before one another. Ready to discuss what we were going to do now.
"So… how do you want to go about this?"
She was giving me an option here.
We can both decide to forfeit at this moment and neither of us will be the winner, or we can tie and we will both bet the winners. But that would be too boring so that was out of question already.
Aside from that, since both sides are extremely exhausted already, there's no point in fighting.
'She knows I'll go to any length to win this battle so even if we fight, her group wouldn't really be of any help to her.'
Yes they still have a better group, yes they are still in possession of those powerful artifacts and the mech that they had created.
I understand well how she would also go to great lengths just to win this battle since her victory would also be a great thing in my eyes.
But, we were standing before one another with Rein on my side and with the rest of our family members eliminated.
'We can do a few things here now. But, she knows fighting directly isn't one of them.'
That's the reason we are standing before one another right now.
That's actually the main reason the rest of the people on the battlefield had also stopped fighting.
"You know what? After thinking a little about this, I have a perfect way to settle this situation."
Two groups fighting against one another will be disadvantageous to both of us. Not fighting will be boring, so the only thing that's left is fighting, but a fight that doesn't involve the entire group.
"Think about it… wouldn't a fight between the representatives of both the groups be a fun thing?"
We can send the weakest of our members and they can fight against one another, we can send people from a certain role and they would fight one another.
She might also propose that the two of us fight against one another and I would certainly accept that as well.
If she wants to fight against Rein, that would be fine with me as well.
"Fight of representatives… that's exactly what I was thinking~!"
It was a common thing among the regional conflict groups. They would fight one another first and then select a representative that would fight on the behalf of their entire community.
'It was a tradition among many of the low intelligence species actually. Orcs especially were fond of fighting against one strong individual rather than a group of weak people that they can simply slaughter with their big weapons.
"Oh, you know what Lucifer? Why don't you and I fight? It will be fun that way as well~!"
She was saying it cheerfully, but she was suggesting that a captain of the team should fight an Ace of the other team.
It was the same as a management member teaching in the graduating class, and that too about a topic that they had little knowledge about.
But, everyone here knew that the real person that was ordering the entire team around, giving order to not only Eula who had taken down the most individuals in this battle simulation class, but also to the rest of the people that were part of our team, while fighting against people that were as strong as them, or were at least famous for certain things, or while dealing with the matters that were beyond the job description of even the master strategists.
'I know I'm praising myself a little too much, but that's not what I was talking about myself.'
They were thinking about all this, and they were the ones who understood how I was the one behind everything that was happening here.
'From the loud bangs at the start that killed some of the key players of this battle at the start of the battle itself, the one who was shooting arrows of various kinds from all around the battlefield, and the one who kept an eye on almost everyone and everything going on around here…'
I was the true captain of this team so, even though I have fought against captain Alpha and Tia and many others, fighting against Zoe was not something that I minded at all.
'In fact, this was beneficial for the Wisdom phoenix.'
And many of the captains present could see that as well… just that they wouldn't really have any other choice or argument to oppose this.
'This was going to happen and it was decided already.'
So, I nodded as well and gave Zoe a warm smile of my own.
"It would be my pleasure, Captain Zoe."
The rest of them knew how we were using this chance to add in a few more points to our house's score that were already dominating the score boards.
But, as we both knew, just that much wasn't going to be enough.
'The first term exams have arrived already.'
We will soon be giving the toughest exams of our lives until now, and that will bring most of the houses much closer to us.
'It's going to be a test of all kinds of aspects of the individuals of all the houses.'
And, since we are comparatively the weakest when it comes to the overall growth of the house, we know we will have to prepare from this point onwards.
"Well then…"
We needed this.
So, we weren't going to listen to any of our partners or teammates… at least, for this time.
