Chapter 991 The echoing bang
Chapter 991 The echoing bang
[OP: ]
A non-peaceful battlefield.
Some children fighting with swords and shields on one side and some children fighting with spears and arrows on the other.
Some were relentlessly using magic with no sign of remorse for the victims that fell to their spells even though they were people that they had known for a while now.
Big weapons were being used, though they were not siege weapons.
The students can use anything that they had on this battlefield but there were criterias, and there were also rules that they had to abide by if they didn't want to get disqualified by the teachers.
This was a real battle simulation so practically anything that could happen on a battlefield was allowed here. However, formally, ethics of all individuals fighting in a battle had to be in their places.
The students had to learn what they can do on a battlefield before they can learn what kind of rules they can break, or what kind of rules there even were exactly.
Given that, almost anything was allowed on this battlefield for now as long as it wasn't too unreasonable or was too much for the other teams.
All teams were divided randomly, but the criteria that they were divided under made sure all teams' overall power value accumulated to zero.
Some teams were obviously too strong while some teams were obviously too weak.
It was a fact and not even the teachers denied it.
However, while some were strong and while some were weak, at the end, there was no team that was overwhelmingly stronger than the other team.
Be it Zoe's team or Eon's team, all teams were divided in a way that at the end, the last remaining teams would have equal chances of victory.
The goal was to reach the centre of the field but to reach the field, they would have to defeat the other teams.
Holding their position in the centre for a minute was necessary for a team to be considered the victor.
And it wasn't going to be easy with the way the teams were deployed.
"They are doing surprisingly well."
"Some of them are. The others? Not quite as well as them."
"Not all of them have fought like this before."
"They are still taught to fight, right? They just have to fight without an arena or a supervisor.
Or, if they can't even do that, they should just use their brains."
Some of the teams had set aside people who were secretly approaching the centre while the others were fighting.
Most of them had concealment abilities that they could have used for this, however some of them were just too fast and didn't need it.
Aside from that, there were countless other tactics that they could use for their battles.
And many were using it, despite their lack of powerful individuals.
Captain Alpha's team was a great example of that, but he wasn't the only one.
Many were doing it, and many were doing it really well.
"Captain Zoe is quite something as well though. She had a judgement of a hundred years old."
The teachers of these students were all looking at them from afar, watching them in all the sides, seeing how they were fighting, how they were judging various situations, how they were countering things, how they were operating, as well as what their thought process was when taking each of the actions that they took.
And the captains of these groups were the centre of their attention. They were powerful and they were great leaders for most parts.
They selected the best individuals that they needed for each of the roles and they did well in most of the other areas as well.
They fought and they led their teams with their own special characteristics, something that was a fulfilling sight to their eyes.
"People call them the Prodigies of the golden era for a reason alright."
Be it Carla, Alf, Prince Claud, Mia, Or even Xlor or Jen. All those prodigies were special individuals who knew what they were doing despite this being most of their first time experience on a battlefield.
Not only were they doing well in either leading their groups or being the spearhead making paths for their teams, they were also making way for their team with the help of the artificial help that was provided to each of the teams to see what creative things they could do with them.
Their experience from their past battle experiences, along with all the tactics, techniques, and strategies that they had learned in this class as well as their other classes mattered a lot, however, what was the main factor in this one or any of the wars that happen around the world was the judgement ability of the leaders who lead their groups.
If the leader was incompetent and there wasn't any actual leading figure that couldn't handle the team well, then there would always be problems with even the most powerful teams with the most competent individuals.
It was the leaders' job, not commanders and not anyone else's to lead their units to victory.
Most others could not do that and that was the main reason behind their failures. Tia was a great leader but she was still not as ruthless as she needed to be to use all the individuals in her power to bring out most of their potential.
But, she was good with handling the individuals that she knew closely or was close with. She was strong individually but, her unique Crimsondust was the main factor that, despite her lack of ruthlessness, made her team as ferocious as Zoe's.
However, on the other hand, though Zoe was not as powerful of an individual as Tia or anyone else on her team and mostly was a Creator with more brains than strengths, she wasn't the friendly, cheerful person who greeted everyone with a hello on this battlefield.
She knew what she had and she used what she had as well as any veteran would. She was ruthless with her orders- though she still gave them with a smile on her face.
She took each of the factors into account before doing anything, but she did those mental calculations quicker than even the mage prodigies that were smart and sharp.
There was no doubt in any of them that she was a one of a kind genius that had appeared like a comet out of nowhere after she created that Ancient tree model during the first festival.
However, there were more layers to her than the an onion, and each one of those layers were only going to be uncovered through big events like these…
That much these teachers knew already.
"Hmmm."
Though…
"I don't see what Lucifer and Uriel duo might be up to though."
They were in for a big surprise right now.
-Bang!
"Hmmm?"
They had known how strong Rein was and they were surprised by her performance until now.
Being able to be a hurdle for a team as strong as Quin's was no small thing, and they admired her for her tactics and techniques.
"Did anyone hear-."
-Bang…!
"…!"
"There!"
"Over there!"
"Oh! No! Look…! Everyone! Look what just happened!"
But they didn't see Lucifer anywhere ever since the battle had started.
He wasn't the leader of their group and he was nowhere to be seen either. So they thought as an (Ace) he might be doing something fascinating like always.
And they were right.
"Is that a sniper?"
"He's… an archer, right?"
"Is… is he using Aura?! Where did he get that thing?!"
"What the hell is that?! Did you see how he eliminated Xlor with just one shot?! That's insane!!!"
He definitely was doing something fascinating.
In fact, he was doing something so fascinating that even the vice headmaster was stunned right now.
"That's a weapon of war… everyone."
The distance was more than twenty five miles. He had shot someone with simply his condensed Aura and with a weapon that fit all criteria of a battle, just like the battle suit that Newtine had been using since earlier.
It was just like a simple sniper rifle that was used in many shooting games, but it looked nothing like a sniper rifle that they knew.
-Bang!
"A weapon of war."
Vice headmaster Oddfird was not stunned by the power of the weapon or by how it defeated the last three individuals that it had been aimed at.
What surprised her more than that unbelievable weapon or its unfathomable range… was the individual that was using it.
"He's an archer alright."
The other teachers of this common class had not seen their vice headmaster smile like how she was right now often.
This was rare. It indicated the mixture of her excitement and enthusiasm, so this was perhaps the first time in a very long time that they were seeing her smile like that.
"And he knows his weapons."
That weapons… she had not seen it before.
A sniper that can shoot someone with enough power to kill them instantly before them realising it, before anyone realising it was not something that existed in their world so, it was obviously something otherworldly.
She wanted to try it as well.
As someone who had used almost all weapons that existed in this world and had master all of them, this new weapon was something that not only piqued her curiosity, but the complicated way of using it, the precise Aura control that it required, the precise breathing that was needed to maintain one's posture while using it… even the very posture that absorbed the heavy shock that was released on each of the fire.
It wasn't like swords, it wasn't like battleships, it wasn't like war machines, it wasn't like magic armors, it wasn't a pistol either.
Eyes, breathing, and concentration.
Along with brains to calculate all the variables in the environment to adjust the shot in a way that it wouldn't make even a slight mistake…
She wanted to learn more about that weapon.
-Bang!
And just like those echoing bangs that perhaps everyone on the battlefield were aware of by now, she also wanted to bask in the tingling sensation that followed after pressing that simple trigger…
