Chapter 1170 Tank's Sly Plan

Chapter 1170 Tank's Sly Plan

Tank gritted his teeth as he prepared to collide with the Alpha. The energy coming from the Alpha had increased compared to before, and the energy was only growing thanks to the connection the Alpha had with the rider, which somehow made both of them stronger and stronger. The aura of Alpha had grown more menacing, and more dangerous, and from the looks of things, it was not going to go down at all.

Tank charged at the wolf, bracing for the impact while channeling mana toward the shields, fully aware that this was going to be tough. Wolf, on the other hand, took a step back while his chaos flames flared brighter as he channeled his energy into a concentrated attack. His body was surrounded by a fiery aura as he prepared for the attack, his flames swirling around him as he stared at the Alpha.

He knew that he would need to hit the wolf hard and fast the moment Tank gave him an opening, he needed to make sure that the attack was devastating, that it was enough to inflict a serious injury to the Alpha and make it easier for them moving forward in the battle.

'Just a few seconds, that's all I need.' Wolf thought as he focused on gathering his flames. He knew that he couldn't just go all out right now, that he had to be careful as the Alpha would notice him gathering his mana to deliver a powerful attack.

This was a powerful Tier VI monster, one that was probably a Mini-Boss, which meant that usually, multiple Tier VI combatants were needed to take it on. The rider was even more powerful, not enough to be called a 'Boss' ranked monster but definitely stronger than a regular Mini Boss.

As Tank charged at the Alpha with his shields placed in front of him. He was running forward, but unlike what he usually did, he was not using his [ Bull Charge ] skill, instead, he was using his defensive skills, creating several shields in front of him that were going to be used to weaken the charge of the Alpha.

The Alpha growled, sensing the challenge from Tank. It lunged at Tank, its claws slashing through the air with terrifying speed and power, breaking the first shield Tank had summoned with ease. It broke through three of the six shields Tank had put in place with what seemed to be ease, barely slowing down or losing its offensive might as it approached the fourth shield floating in front of Tank.

Suddenly, the shield, as well as the other two shields, moved.

They scattered, moving to the side, allowing the Alpha to arrive in front of Tank with ease, confusing the wolf for a moment, as well as Wolf, who had no idea what Tank was doing.

The Alpha arrived and struck the two shields, a powerful shockwave reverberating through the entire forest as the ground shook and cracked while Tank fell down on one knee while holding his shields that were now being pressed against him.

His arms felt as if they were going to break at any moment, his chest had a ton of pressure on it as the Alpha's claws were pushing down on the two shields. Tank struggled, his knees were starting to buckle from the overwhelming strength and weight of the Alpha, and the face of the Alpha was now close to him, merely half a meter away.

The stench of its breath was almost unbearable, the razor-sharp teeth that were on full display horrifying, and the cold eyes that stared into Tank's eyes made his blood run cold.

And yet, he smiled, even though the Alpha was close enough to open its massive jaw and bite his entire head off, he smiled as he made it get to the position he wanted it to be in.

Suddenly, the three shields that had previously moved out of the Alpha's way moved again. The Abyss Shield, the Rock Shield, as well as the weird mana shield that was made out of multiple smaller hexagonal shields also moved.

The hexagonal mana shields arrived first, suddenly slamming into the body of the Wolf from all sides as the small hexagonal shields all separated from one another.

Right after that, they all changed form, instead of being shields, they were now in the form of horse shoes, and they quickly struck the legs and the neck of the Alpha, slamming down into the ground with immense power, forcing the Alpha to actually lie down.

Still, it wasn't enough to hold the Alpha down as it struggled, slowly lifting and breaking the mana shields that were holding it down.

That was why the Rock Shield came next, slamming into the back of the Alpha before solidifying and turning heavier and heavier, a special trait of the shield that Tank rarely used. In this situation, however, it was perfect. The shield caused the back of the Alpha to crack slightly as the monstrous wolf growled in pain and anger until the final shield arrived, slamming onto its neck from above.

The Abyss shield slammed down, and a terrifying aura came over the Alpha as the power of the abyss washed over it, causing it to weaken.

[ Shield Prison ]

It was a newly developed skill that Tank had learned during their battles in the arena as he observed multiple Guardians do similar things. Unlike how he used his shields, mostly just to defend against attacks and weaken them, they were all more creative.

Of course, that mostly came from the fact that they were individually weaker than Tank, didn't have a weapon as strong as his, and they had to struggle and find creative ways to fight their opponents and help out their team.

One thing about being in a team full of monstrous individuals was that you could brute-force your way through many challenges that you were going to face, which would impede your growth and creativity with your ability and skills, something they had all noticed after fighting in the arena.

The [ Shield Prison ] that Tank just used was not at its full strength thanks to the fact the Alpha had broken half of his shields, thus it would not be able to hold the Alpha down for a long period of time, but it was enough.

Wolf was already in the air above the Alpha, his flaming sword exploding with flames.

Previously, flames were coiling around Wolf, and his aura had steadily been rising, but not to a large degree, because he didn't want to alarm the Alpha and have it realize what he was planning on doing.

He was patient, placed his faith on Tank, and continued steadily and stealthily channeling mana to his sword, actually forcing the flames to not only be as compact as they could be, but also sending a large portion of them inside the sword, which was where the chaos energy was located.

By feeding the chaos energy his flames, a ton of chaos flames was produced inside, and the chaos energy had started running a bit rampant, but luckily for Wolf, he already had some control over it, thus he was able to prevent it from leaving the sword and betraying his plan.

The soul inside the sword helped him a lot as well, even though there was little individuality left in the soul. It could no longer be called the soul of their previous enemy, of the leader of the Order they had annihilated, it was now just an empty soul that barely knew what it was. Still, it was friendly toward Wolf, and would help him control the chaos energy when he needing it.

With the Alpha now down on the ground, unable to move, Wolf didn't need to hide his power.

His sword exploded with red flames, causing the air in the entire area to turn dry and the temperature to increase by a large margin. The aura of chaos spread out, causing the wolves and hunters to feel immense pressure, and even the rider that Reign was still fighting against looked at him in shock.

The mere fact his wolf was down on the ground while such an immense power was about to strike it meant it was in mortal danger, and the rider quickly tried to attack Wolf, pulling his arm back in an attempt to throw his spear at Wolf, only to suddenly groan and freeze as a sword went through its abdomen while a hand grabbed his wrist.

"Can you really afford such distraction now?" Reign asked the rider, blood flowing down his face and left arm which held the sword that he stabbed through the abdomen of the rider.

He had not been having it easy against the rider and had been injured more than once while barely managing to inflict any injury on the man, but now, thanks to Wolf, he had finally been able to get an opening and inflict a wound.

Black lightning suddenly flickered around the sword before it was discharged, harming both the inside and the outside of the rider's body.

The man roared in pain and quickly punched Reign in the face with his free hand, but the damage had already been done, and the opportunity for him to intervene in the battle the Alpha was waging had passed as red flames rose high in the ground after Wolf's sword was swung.
