Chapter 52 - Eating Popcorn While Watching A Fight
Chapter 52 - Eating Popcorn While Watching A Fight
Dawn came and Nile got off from the thick tree branch.
As it was still early, Nile did not eat yet and decided to take a stroll first. In any case, he might get lucky and encounter a zombie or something.
After walking for a while, Nile noticed a small house in the distance.
No, it can no longer be described as a house because it was more like a wreckage. It's roofs are torn, and the walls are in pieces.
Nile approached the wreckage warily and observed it closely.
The wrecked house is small, and it got even smaller as there are missing walls and other parts on it.
The wrecked house is made of a different kind of wood. It looks like a storm had just passed by based on the wreckage.
As Nile did not notice any abnormality and there were no zombies in that wrecked house, Nile decided to put the matter at the back of his head and continued his stroll.
Nile is getting farther and farther. He noticed that the sun is already rising in the east.
Day 5 on the Apocalypse, Nile's progress on getting stronger is fast, but because of the limited resources or zombies to become strong, Nile is anxious and is not satisfied with his current level.
After walking for a while, Nile realizes that the houses are more sparse than usual. He scourged his memory and realized the reason for this.
Ulhi Village is a place where people rely more on farming to make a living. In particular, the local products of Ulhi Village are their sugarcane plantations.
Because of that, you could only see a few houses on Ulhi even including the hamlet's under it.
Nile thought that it was a problem. There will be fewer zombies in this village, he needs to hurry and move towards the next village then.
Nile walked and a while later, he arrived at an intersection road, this road is the Main road used to access in order to reach the town easily. The other side of the road is connected to the next town.
The Town of Daan was at the left side of the road, so Nile turned to that area and walked again.
Each side of the road is covered with tall sugarcanes, it was at least twice as tall as Nile.
The sun was rising and Nile felt a little tremble in his stomach. Nile took a biscuit and dried fruit packets on his Storage Space and continued walking as he ate his breakfast.
Nile is busy savoring the somewhat sweet and sour taste of the dried mango when he hears a commotion on his right.
Because of the tall sugarcanes, Nile could not see what it is, but based on the sound, there seems to be a fight going on?
Nile got curious and decided to take a little peek.
He drew out his Katana and slashed the sugarcanes on his way.
The sugarcanes are not yet to mature, so he did not waste his time harvesting them for food. He just finds it strange though that these sugarcanes are so tall. They seem to be also a lot sturdier.
'Are sugarcanes really this tall and tough? Strange!' Nile thought as he continued to slash the sugarcanes in his front. While doing so, he will take a piece of the dried mango and put it in his mouth.
After slashing, Nile arrived at an area where the sugarcanes had fallen down. It looks like a tornado suddenly dropped around this area and vanished immediately after the havoc.
But Nile already knew that this was not caused by the tornado. The real culprit of this messed up scene is the two figures in the middle.
In the middle, a carabao and a huma-, no, a carabao and a zombie were having a fight.
Nile stood there and gaze at the two. They did not notice him and continued their fight.
Nile shrugged his shoulders and sat down.
As he was still not full after eating one packet of biscuit and dried mango, he browsed through his Storage Space and took a packet of Popcorn in it.
Nile opened it on the top and grabbed a handful of it. He then put three pieces of popcorn in his mouth and ate it. His eyes never left the two fighting in the middle.
After popping the popcorn in his mouth, Nile is surprised by the taste of it. He took a glance at the packaging and realized that the popcorn was named Pettle Corn and it has a spicy barbeque flavor on it.
Nile is satisfied as it was his favorite flavor. The Pettle Corn is also a pricey item back when the world is not yet infected by zombies.
Nile stared at the two while putting popcorns on his mouth from time to time.
'Eating popcorn while watching some fights is really enjoyable.' Nile nodded his head in satisfaction.
Normally, if Nile saw a zombie, he would immediately kill and collect its Apocalypse Virus.
But Nile did not do it and instead waited to the side. It was because there is another factor that he needs to take care of. That was the animal that the zombie was fighting.
The Carabao!
Five days had passed since he transmigrated, but this was the first time Nile had encountered an animal. Aside from the huge maggots, of course.
He is not sure if the carabao is a zombie or not. He also had to take note if the carabao had mutated in a strange way or another.
If he interfered, what would happen? Will the carabao also attack him? What if the carabao will join hands with the zombie and attack him? Are they still the domestic animals that are used by farmers to plow the field? Have they become infected? Or have they mutated?
Those were questions that keep on popping on Nile's head as he watches the fight while eating the spicy barbeque flavored Pettle Corn.
Based on the System previously, all beings that have a brain or nervous system have been affected by the First Virus.
But Nile had this question, so had the government also given the second virus to the animals? Pets must have been given the second virus, but Nile had doubts about other animals that are not kept as pets. Especially the wild animals.
Just how much money did the government spend for this reckless project?
Just like the humans, the pets who consumed the Second Virus must have also felt the attack on their brain by the Apocalypse Virus. Their chance of survival? Nile did not know.
Nile continued to enjoy, I mean, Nile continued to observe the fight and noticed that the zombie is having the upper hand.
Nile estimated that the zombie is already a Level One° zombie with considerable strength. If the carabao also has a Level, then its strength is also at the Level One°.
The carabao thrust its horn to the zombie. The zombie faces the attack head and hugs the carabao's neck.
It then twisted it a little and then the carabao started to kneel. It was panting heavily, and it was clearly exhausted.
As the carabao's body could not take it anymore, it lay down and allowed the zombie to have the opportunity to smash the carabao's neck without restraint.
Dong!
Sounds of metal or bone being hit echoed.
The carabao is starting to lose its consciousness.
Because of the strike, its head move in another direction.
It was at that time that it notice Nile sitting at the side while nibbling into something.
"Mooo!"
The carabao lets out a weak mooh as it glance at Nile with an exhausted and pitiful eye.
A flash of reluctance and plead could be seen in the carabao's eyes as it started to turn white.
If the eyes could speak, the carabao's eyes would surely say,
"Help me, please!"
