Chapter 604 - Why Is It That I'm Always Compared to Slimes?
In response to Aoi-chan’s request of improving her golem magic even more than before, Kuro’s name was brought up. Aoi-chan also knows Kuro, so she’s easy for her to talk to.
For the time being, I’ll talk to her when Kuro visits tonight……
[Heck, didn’t Kaito-san receive that book from Kuro-san?]
[Eh? That book?]
[Yes, among the books Kuro-san wrote, there should be one about golem-making in it.]
[……Come to think of it, I did receive lots of books from her……]
The book that Alice is referring to…… is not the Eating Tour in its Entirety Guide. When I told Kuro what I thought of her Eating Tour Guide, telling her how interesting and useful it is, she gave me copies of other books she had written…… about 500 copies of them.
There are many books on magic theories that I don’t understand at all, and I haven’t gotten very far with them but…… I think there really was a book about golems in it too.
After Alice mentioned that, I opened up my magic box…… and found a book titled “Understanding Golem Magic”. There are three of such books in my magic books, one being for elementary level, intermediate level and advanced level……
[Are you talking about this?]
[Yep, that’s it. I think there should also be two magic dolls-related books among them…… but I think you should focus on Golem Magic for the time being.]
After checking with Alice once, I handed the book to Aoi-chan, who was looking at me with expectant eyes.
[Then, here, Aoi-chan.]
[Y- Yes! Thank you! I’ll be borrowing it for the moment!]
[Kuro-san’s books are very rare. There aren’t many of them on the market……]
Receiving the books with a happy smile on her face, Aoi-chan immediately started flipping through one of them…… starting with the one labeled “advanced”.
Opening the advanced level book first without any hesitation, as expected of Aoi-chan.
Like that, after reading the book for a while…… Aoi-chan muttered with a trembling voice.
[……T- This is amazing. A- As expected of Kuromu-sama…… I wonder how she thought of such amazing and beautiful magic formulas……]
Seeing Aoi-chan mutter this, looking as if she saw something shuddering, Hina-chan and I looked at each other before we peered into the book from behind Aoi-chan.
However, I have no idea what she’s talking about. It looks like there is some kind of complicated magic formula described in the book, and there’s an explanation added to it but…… It’s too complicated for me to understand.
[……Hina-chan, did you understand what she was talking about?]
[……I don’t understand it at all. I mean, is there even anything beautiful with formulas?]
As Hina-chan and I tilted our heads, Aoi-chan closed the book once, looked back at us and spoke.
[……Errr, if you imagined it as a painting or a piece of music, you would be able to easily imagine why I said such a thing. Even if two people use the same kind of paints or the same sheet music, there is a huge difference between noobs and professionals…… one looks like random doodles while the other is art!]
[I- I see…… So, Aoi-chan, are you going to be able to use that technique?]
[It’s absolutely impossible for me. The current me is bound to blow up if I try using such a complicated technique. I don’t have enough magic power to use it anyway.]
I might be digressing but…… magic formulas are magic power sketches drawn with a person’s imagination. The more complex the magic formula is, the more difficult it is to use, because it will only work if you remember the magic formula and are able to draw it correctly.
Of course, all of it would be useless if you don’t have enough magic power to activate it……
[However, it’s very informative! I’ve also read some things in the elementary and intermediate level now, and they’re also awesome books, carefully written in a way to help guide you in leveling up your Golem Magic!]
[I- I see…… Errr, d- do your best.]
[Yes! Kaito-san, thank you very much! I’ll do my best and master all the things written here…… and become a splendid Golem Wizard!!!]
H- Hmmm…… Her passion for Golem Magic is really tremendous. Aoi-chan is actually a really hard worker, so I think she’ll learn at least the elementary level pretty quickly.
How should I say this…… It seems like the distance of combat power between me and my kouhais are increasingly getting larger and larger…… Well, they look happy, so I guess it’s fine?
As I was thinking about this, I felt a small tug on the sleeve of my clothes. Turning around, I saw Hina-chan meekly looking at me.
[……Hina-chan?]
[……Kaito-senpai, errr, are there any books written about Body Strengthening Magic?]
[I- I think I’ll be able to find some if I search for it…… but could it be that?]
[Please let me borrow it. I’m not very good at studying but…… I would also be frustrated if I just kept on losing all the time!]
[……G- Got it.]
Is her athlete blood getting roused to action? Anyway, it seems that Hina-chan has been lit up. Seeing my kouhai trying to get stronger and stronger, I felt that my pride as her senpai was somehow being stimulated.
[……Hey, Alice.]
[What is it?]
[If I said I wanted to be stronger, just like my two kouhais, how would you respond?]
[……Well, “with humane methods”, it will be a bit difficult.]
[……Am I really that untalented?]
[No, well…… A- At least, you’re stronger than a slime?]
[…………………..]
Dear Mom, Dad————— I was happy to see the growth of my two kouhais, but at the same time, I felt sad about my own lack of combat talent. I mean, lots of people have already said such a thing————— but why is it that I’m always being compared to slimes?
