Chapter 97 Chaos On The 102nd Floor

Chapter 97 Chaos On The 102nd Floor

Drakos laughed maniacally. "You think numbers matter?" He swung his sword with such force that, when Krael blocked it, he was pushed back fifteen feet.

His boots skidded across the stone floor as he came to a halt after sliding a few more inches backward.

[ System Notification: Krael takes -5,200 HP. HP: 10,800/16,000. ]

"My arms… they're shaking," Krael muttered as stared at his trembling hands.

If it didn't dawn on them before, it finally did... this player was insanely strong...

Lyriss darted into the fray, moving like a shadow as she weaved through the group. She targeted Liana, the mage.

[ System Notification: Lyriss uses Silent Strike.Critical Hit! Liana takes -9,000 HP. ]

[ System Notification: Liana has been killed. Respawned outside the dungeon. ]

She was killed in a single strike.

"Damn it!" Zeyra cursed while trying to catch Lyriss with her daggers. "You'll pay for that!" But Lyriss was too quick, disappearing into the shadows before Zeyra could land a hit.

Meanwhile, Orlma raised her staff, chanting in a low, melodic voice. The room darkened as a massive magical circle appeared beneath the group of six--now five.

[ System Notification: Orlma casts Abyssal Bind. Targets: All Movement reduced by 60%. ]

"Shit, we're slowed!" Dren yelled while struggling to move. "We're sitting ducks like this!"

This made matters even worse for them.

Drakos capitalized on their vulnerability, charging straight at Felix and Vyn, who were still recovering from his earlier attack. With a single swing, he cleaved through them.

Krael, Zeyra, and Dren regrouped, trying to form a defensive stance as their faces contorted in utter disbelief.

They were by no means weak since they were the second to arrive at the last floor, yet they stood no chance against this trio.

"Stay behind me!" Krael barked while activating his defensive skill.

[ System Notification: Krael uses Shield Wall. Reduces incoming damage by 50% for 10 seconds. ]

But Drakos was relentless. His sword glowed brighter as he swung it forward with unparalleled force.

A wave of red arc cut through the air...

[ System Notification: Drakos uses Infernal Surge. Area Effect Damage: -7,000 HP. Burn Damage: -500 HP per second for 5 seconds. ]

Zeyra fell to the ground as her HP bar drained rapidly. "I can't… keep up…" she muttered before collapsing.

[ System Notification: Zeyra has been killed. Respawned outside the dungeon. ]

Dren roared in anger, swinging his massive axe at Drakos. "You bastard!"

[ System Notification: Dren uses Berserker Fury. Critical Hit! Drakos takes -600 HP. ]

Drakos grunted while staggering slightly but quickly recovered. "Finally, someone with guts!" he sneered.

Despite Dren's valiant effort, Lyriss appeared from behind and landed a decisive blow.

[ System Notification: Lyriss uses Assassin's Mark. Fatal Hit! Dren has been killed. Respawned outside the dungeon. ]

Krael, the last remaining member, glared at Drakos. "You're nothing but a madman!" he shouted before charging forward with all his strength.

But Orlma raised her staff, casting a final spell.

[ System Notification: Orlma casts Void Spear. ]

A purplish glowing spear materialized from mana and shot forward at astonishing speed.

All Krael saw was blinding purplish light before he was engulfed by the attack.

The group of six was gone with their loot scattered on the ground.

Drakos sifted through the loot in frustration. "No key. Damn it!"

"Are you sure they didn't have it?" Orlma asked calmly.

"If they did, it would've dropped," Lyriss said, leaning casually against the wall while cleaning her daggers. "Maybe we missed something on one of the upper floors."

Drakos growled as he paced in front of the sealed door. The intricate carvings on it seemed to mock him. "We need that key to get through. If we can't find it... We'll be stuck here."

Orlma stepped forward while examining the door. "Perhaps there's another way. But for now, let's go back and retrace our steps."

Drakos clenched his fists, barely containing his bloodlust. "Fine. But if I see another party, I'm not holding back."

The trio turned and began their ascent.

...

...

Meanwhile August and the others descended carefully onto the 102nd floor.

Their boots crunched softly against the gravel-like surface of the narrow pathways. Unlike the massive, sprawling floors they had traversed earlier, this level was cramped and suffocating.

The walls seemed to press inward, glowing faintly with an eerie green hue from veins of mana-infused stone. The atmosphere was tense; they were close to the end, and they all knew it.

"We're almost there," Aria's tone held a mix of excitement and exhaustion. She adjusted her staff and cast a wary glance at the surroundings. "If we clear the 102nd floor, the 103rd floor is just up ahead."

"Good," Drask grunted with his massive axe resting over his shoulder. "I'm ready to get out of this cursed place. My stamina potions are almost gone."

"Let's be prepared for what's ahead... It probably won't be easy," August stated.

His enhanced senses as an assassin kept him alert to any signs of danger. "The final floor hmm..."

As they advanced, they dealt with a few scattered beasts along the way. These creatures weren't as formidable as the enemies they'd faced in previous floors, but they were still strong enough to keep them on their toes.

After some time, the group turned a corner and froze. Up ahead was a massive clearing, lit by glowing orbs hovering near the ceiling.

The sight before them was utter chaos—a bloodbath.

Three separate parties were locked in combat with spells crackling in the air, blades clashing, and arrows whistling through the confined space.

The ground was littered with loot and the bodies of fallen players who had either respawned or simply given up.

"Looks like a battlefield," Torin muttered while drawing his bow.

"No kidding," Aria's eyes narrowed. "What the hell is going on here?"

Viora's soft voice broke through. "They're probably fighting for the passageway to the 103rd floor. That's the only logical reason."

"Of course they are," Gareth grumbled while raising his shield. "What a waste of time and energy."

The moment August and the others stepped further into the clearing, the warring parties stopped mid-fight, turning their bloodthirsty gazes toward them.

"Great," August muttered. "Now we're on the menu."

One of the leaders, a seven-foot-tall berserker with a scar running down his face, pointed his axe at them. "More rats trying to scurry their way down! If you're smart, you'll turn around now."

"Or," another voice chimed in—a rogue from another party—"you can drop all your loot here and save us the trouble of killing you."

Aria stepped forward while pointing her glowing staff forward. "We don't have time for this. Stand aside, or we'll make you."

The rogue smirked. "Big words for a mage. Let's see if you can back them up."

Before the situation could escalate further, a booming voice echoed from the passageway ahead.

The ground trembled slightly as the trio from the 103rd floor stepped into view. Drakos, Lyriss, and Orlma walked forward, silencing the clearing with their ominous presence.

Drakos's blood-red armor glowed faintly, and his sword rested lazily on his shoulder, but his eyes radiated with insanity.

"Everyone, shut up!" Drakos bellowed. His voice carried an air of authority mixed with unhinged aggression. "I'm not in the mood for games. Whoever has the key, hand it over now."

The berserker leader snarled, stepping forward. "Who the hell do you think you are, barking orders like that?"

Drakos's deranged grin widened. "The guy who's going to kill you if you don't hand over the key."

Before anyone could react, Drakos dashed forward with incredible speed.

His sword glowed crimson as he activated a skill.

[ System Notification: Drakos uses Crimson Cleave. Area Damage: -8,000 HP to all targets within range. ]

The berserker barely had time to block, and even then, he was sent flying back several feet, his HP bar dropping significantly.

[ System Notification: Berserker takes -7,500 HP. HP: 2,500/10,000. ]

"Are you insane?!" the berserker shouted, struggling to his feet. But Drakos wasn't listening; he was already charging at the next target with bloodlust.

The rogue tried to retaliate, throwing daggers at Drakos, but Lyriss intercepted him by slashing the daggers in mid-air.

[ System Notification: Lyriss uses Shadow Veil. Invisibility activated. ]

"Where the hell did she go? Damn it! I'm supposed to be able to see her!" The rogue yelled while spinning around frantically.

[ System Notification: Lyriss uses Silent Strike. Critical Hit! Rogue takes -9,000 HP. ]

Lyriss's dagger stabbed into his blind spot from an unexpected angle, causing the rogue's eyes to widen in disbelief.

In the next instant, the rogue crumpled to the ground, dead.

"We need to move now!" Aria hissed amidst the chaos. "If we get caught up in this, we'll never make it to the 103rd floor."
